What's up with mec gar glock mags? Yea or nah?
>>
>>65023888
I once was checking out some gun store in the middle of nowhere PA and saw a used Browning BDA. I asked the only person behind the counter, an old man, if he knew anything about the gun and he said "It's metal" and walked off.

Before I left, I hear a customer ask for ammo as he was going hunting and the store owner said they don't sell ammunition "due to the liability".

What the fuck does that even mean

>>
>>65023935
They lack the Glock overtravel stop so be careful when using them in a 19 or 26 or aftermarket frame. There was a fiasco when using a aftermarket everything Glock with a trigger tech trigger, slamming in a magazine would cause the gun to go off. The trigger tech trigger was to blame mostly.

For the new 15 round slimline Glock mags it seems that MecGar is the OEM manufacturer of them. Okay not really seems, it’s 100% confirmed from the ones in the wild.

So I had my 1st IDPA match yesterday and absolutely had a blast. What is a good revolver to use for IDPA for fun? You can only have 6 rounds for revolver division so would a New Model 10 Smith be a good option or shoudl I go with a Ruger GP100? Maybe a Taurus and spend the difference on some speed loaders? I really prefer a 3 inch barrel.

>The fact that the average person can tie their shoes is a fucking miracle
The era of shoe-tying is coming to an end. In the 1970s and 80s slip-on variations of shoes that were traditionally laced started to catch on, you can thank Vans for that. Since the early 2000s though it's been snowballing aggressively, and now slip-on/laceless/hands-free footwear dominates in nearly every category. Running shoes are the last major hold-out, boots are "competitive". Exceptions are made primarily as a style choice, lots of sneakers now have fake laces just for show. When you see zoomers with laces it's because they're wearing Nikes, and the untied laces are tucked behind the tongue, or they've been replaced with fakes. Shoe-tying, wife-beating, cigarettes, machine guns, a lack of AIDs, it's all boomer-speak now.

yes actually I think you would see some real benefits with a partial underlug Model 10, it's the only .357 that doesn't come with a full underlug or a top rib as far as I know. Those are really bullseye/target features that don't help for idpa. 3" python might have a slightly better double action.

>>65024432
Hoppes is actually the worst oil I've ever used honestly. I ran it for over a year on parkerized steel parts and it basically did nothing to prevent corrosion/rust at all. it seems like a good oil when you first lay it on because it spreads nicely and the excess wipes off easily, but it dries super quick if it doesn't run off first. I think it's mainly meant for blued guns. I wouldn't put it on anything knowing what I know now, for friction areas I'd rather use clp or rem oil if I didn't have lucas oil

>40s&w
What're the selling points for .40, anyway? I always hear the debate between 9mm and .45 (and maybe 10mm for woods), but I barely hear .40 get brought up nowadays.
>>
>>65024501
From my local .40 fanboy? Mostly that lots of LEO use it, even after the FBI abandoned it, and some people really like using what they use. In my experience, it doesn't give you anything 10mm won't do a bit better, or that 9mm isn't already basically doing.
>>
>>65024501
>What're the selling points for .40, anyway
It's between 9 and 45, but it doesn't matter as much as it's an indicator of panic buying - 40 sits where it was because no one is shooting it, it fell off.

Slide is getting caught on the guide rod flange. I replaced the main recoil spring, still happening. Anyone deal with his before? Would just replacing the recoil assembly take care of it? Kahr wants me to send the whole thing in, but I don't want to deal with all that.

>>
>>65024748
Radius the inside end nut of the guide rod, you could do it to your gun inside the guide rod hole, but a guide rod is easier to replace than a slide. Just a slight angle with a dremel and clean up with sandpaper will do. Like change it from this | to this \

Berettas have proof marks that tell the date of manufacture.

https://www.bluefieldsports.co.uk/blog/dope-5/beretta-italian-date-marks-8

The proof mark for Cheetahs are usually on the trigger guard. For example, this fuddbroker Cheetah has a proof mark of "AI", which translates to 1982.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1165997865

For 1976, the mark is "AB". So look for a Cheetah with AB on the trigger guard.

RCBS, Hornady, Lyman all good. Lee single stage presses aren't bad, but they won't have the longevity of more $$ presses. I like Lee dies for certain things like factory crimping or .003" undersized dies for getting "Glock bulge" out of range pickups.

NTA, not a reloader but researched it from the perspective of reloading pistol calibers

The more money you spend on a nice press the more ammo you make. A fancy progressive press does multiple tasks per lever pull, single stage presses you only do one stage.

I was going to buy the Dillon Square Deal since it’s designed specifically for pistol calibers (straight wall only) and you could get it in a package with all the accessories for a specific caliber

No.
New reloaders are way more likely to fuck up with a progressive setup than a single stage.
Get the fundamentals down first, then go to a more sophisticated press.

Boondock is such a mid wit, the military's special purpose ammo is Hague compliant because the copper jacket persists into the cavity instead of exposing the lead. This bullet construction improves accuracy because the weight's shifted rearward for a more level orientation in flight so terminal expansion is plausibly incidental to the ballistic properties of M1153.
>>
>>65025933
Imported Glock clones should be cheap. The Echelon was made for high margins, it was made to be a rip-off. Buy the RXM, or really buy just about anything else because the Echelon is so overpriced it puts you in the range of numerous other perfectly good guns that aren't made by HS and weren't designed to be a "more profitable replacement" for older models.

Echelon starts around $540 though I think I've seen as low as $500. The RXM starts at $400, APX is around $340, the FN 509 is under $500, a CZ P-09 Nocturne comes in around $500, P-07s are even cheaper, the P365 exists, an M&P 9 Shield comes in around $400, you can get a G43, G43X, G17, G19, or G45 at or under $500. That's without getting into the weird or cheap stuff, there are a LOT of guns on the market for at or under $500.

Brass that doesn't polish right, doesn't fit properly in the shell holder, doesn't pass a chamber gage after resizing, needs trimming for 9mm or .45 (I have so much I just put over length ones in my scrap bucket) or splits in the case mouth expander. I don't time it to the hour, but casually working on it it would be over the course of a few days.
I deprimed, sized and cleaned the primer pockets of over 5,000 .45 Auto cases and that took me most of season 1 of SG1 across a few days. So like 14hrs-ish. About 6 press presses a minute, one every 10 seconds because I'm watching TV.
Doing the math and assuming priming the brass takes about the same time if I'm slowly doing it, I estimate 500rds would take me around 7hrs on my single stage press at a casual rate. And that's all while paying partial attention to watching TV.

They come in .45 Auto weights, but I think they can be used in .45LC if you want to load it in a levergun tube mag on account of the flat nose.
However, I also think they're meant to punch paper like a semi-wadcutter could, but it's an FMJ. SWCs I don't think can be jacketed due to the shape. And you can't fire lead or plated through a ported barrel that isn't countersunk. I got these in 185gr and 230gr to shoot through my ported P220 barrel with 231 powder to make fireballs.

At what point is ammo too much? like literally causing issues with your subflooring or joists. Especially if you store it in the same room/area.

Assuming you go by the recommended load for square feet based on normal housing standards, if it is a closet or something would probably not be as much as you think.

Plus 45ACP and heavier rounds weigh more than smaller rounds.

Would be a good Gemini question probably.

How many rounds is "enough"? 10k per caliber? 20k per caliber? 2k per gun? Obviously normies might only have like a few boxes, so maybe 100-150 per each gun. Assuming you train and shoot maybe 1k rounds a month per caliber, or at a minimum a few hundred a month, youd need to restock 1k rounds every other month to maintain maybe.

Especially since there is money saving. People saying reloading is retarded are themselves retarded. People saying you must reload or you are retarded are also retarded.

This is precisely why military and law enforcement used to be super anal about having manual safeties. It takes time and effort to try to raise the average competence of an organization, and there will always be retards who can't be helped. So it's often just easier to make it more difficult for retards to not hurt themselves than it is to make them not retarded.

Anyway give me a 17 or 19 with a manual safety, Glock. Weren't you fucks already looking into it during the MHS trials?

Fact. I'm just so used to having trained with a manual safety that not having one feels wrong. It would also probably cut down on the shitposts about Glock leg, but that's not something I really care about.

You're too poor to afford 1,000 rounds of ammo. You wouldn't even know what to do with it if you saw it. Probably cum your pants and run away shidding and farding and crying. It's too late now though. The beginning of the end has already begun.

I would never recommend a new S&W revolver, but after working over the action of a 986, it felt pretty similar to a Spohr I got to handle. The Spohr is nice, but I don't know if it's $3000+ nice, and a problem with all of the commercially available high-end European revolvers is they're just meant for target shooting. At least Spohr makes a 3" model, but it weighs more than any comparable model from S&W or even Ruger. The Korth Sky Marshal was probably the coolest European revolver sold in the USA, but it had such a short production run that it basically doesn't count.

I was tempted to include my Mark 23, it's cool and all, but I can't say I wouldn't sell it some day. It's worth more than I paid and it's not a bucket list gun anymore like a long barrel Mateba.

>>65025741
This. I have a reloading setup for rifle rounds but I'm not going to waste time reloading 9mm. I MIGHT reload .357mag some day, but I go through ammo so slowly with revolvers that it's not worth it now.

>>
>>65027355
>nearly 28

So 27? I have 8 right now. I haven't counted everything I've ever had but I've sold most of what I've owned because a lot of it was just getting to use it and then deciding it wasn't worth keeping vs trying something else. Notable examples of this include
>Luger P08
I overpaid because it was my first bucket list gun and it was nowhere near as fun to shoot as I expected. Felt great in the hand, very meh trigger, had some reliability issues.
>various sig, beretta and HK full sizes
Just didn't do it for me. P226 was probably my favorite of these but I really had no use for it since I never carry a full size and I have an SBR for home defense
>G34
in the end, it was just a bigger glock
>P229 in .357 sig
Fell for a meme.
>G20
Fell for another meme glock
>P320
Kind of ashamed of it, but it was cheap. Wasn't very good and I dumped it immediately when they started making the news to minimize my losses
>PPK
The most memed gun, muh james bond, what a fucking turd
>Hi-Power
9mm 1911 but worse in every way

Upcoming guns I will inevitably overpay for and sell out of disappointment or boredom
>XR9S
>Semi custom 2011
>P7 (unless someone lets me shoot one first)
>C96
>Model 500
but hey, at least I got to rent a deagle instead of buying one and being disappointed.

Revolvers can also be exempt from the roster through single action exemption.

>buy gun
>convert to single action

>convert back to double action

Basically any revolver is fair game except snubbies, since single action exemption has an overall length requirement, which most snubbies are too short for. So for snubbies, you have to get C&R.

>And what 38 snubby?

Please help. I'm all over the fucking map. For modern 9mm handguns... I currently have a Tactical Toblerone APX and a Sig P365X with a Holosun 507K X2 on it. For some reason I've been thinking I want 2 more guns. A DA/SA with external safety for nightstand/home defense duty that I could later throw a red dot on it and use my X300U. Second gun I've been trying to convince my self of anything other than a Glock 19 MOS. However I fingerfucked a Gen 6 and other than the grip angle which I know I can learn.... I like it. I checked out the PDP compact and was unsure but liked the trigger. I really liked the PDP full size 4.5". What are the current recommendations here? Suggestions for a DA/SA? I feel like I should just get a G19 Gen 6.

>>65028112
The DB9 is similar overall, a little longer/taller but skinnier. Sits in the hand a little nicer than the PM9 but that's not saying much, they're both very small.
>>
>>65028135
Oh nice, no app needed! That's perfect!
>>
>>65028112
Hows the trigger on Kahrs? I wanted to get a PM45 a while back, but could never find the model I wanted in stock. Can you restrike with them?
>>
>>65028148

>>
>>65028140
Thanks. So it's still totally viable as a pocket 9. Cool. Seven rounds of 9mm vs ten rounds of 380, I don't know but 9 is pretty good.
>>
>>65028150
It's different, you'd either like it or hate it. It's a smooth consistent pull, not too heavy, and there's no wall. It just breaks. The worst part is that the trigger needs to be let out all the way to reset it. You can get used to it, but you'd like it or hate it.
>>
>>65028165
I'm a revolver guy so I could see myself liking it. Nobody stocks them locally so I can't find one to feel the trigger. I always wanted a 45, but I exclusively carry J frame sized guns and the Kahr is the only pocketable 45 that I know of that has any sort of reputation for being reliable.
