Still looking for info/advice about making synthetic stocks at home. Fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin, foam, that kind of thing, not nylon.Previous: >>64933822
>>65030580Fiberglass bondo would be the easiest or printed in parts. Honestly though, why?
I've carried in the sauna almost daily for a couple years. I've learned they carry ammo gets degraded and sketchy after about 2 months. I carry a .380 with Precision One ammo but quickly realized that it degrades a bit faster than most. Haven't had a squib yet, but it's enough to cause malfunctions. .380 is cheap enough and I don't carry expensive loads so it's not bad switching out 15 rounds every month or so. Some european .380 fmj rounds are sealed and last 3-4 months. Is it possible to seal primers and bullets or is this all done prior to seating the primer/round? Anyone have a good sealent brand?
How do you make sure your homemade stock doesn't trigger an ATF raid? I've heard of people just asking their gunsmith to shorten the barrel to 18.5 inches or something and the gunsmith calls the ATF because "if I cut it shorter it would be a short barrel shotgun"So I can imagine an "overall length" problem if you make your ownI would just buy something at brownell's, safer that way. No reason to ruin your life just to save $35
Who makes cheap or clone AR-15 sights that actually work. The only one I've ever found was a clone of the Magpul gen 2.Have even tried some Daniel Defense clones and they're no good unless you're sighting over 100+ feet.Yes, yes I know you are supposed to sight your rifles in a lot further out. If I want to shoot anything that far out I'll use a scope I have. Primarily just have indoor ranges to shoot at. I like shooting iron sights as it is skill practice.
>>65031023>I've heard of people just asking their gunsmith to shorten the barrel to 18.5 inches or something and the gunsmith calls the ATF because "if I cut it shorter it would be a short barrel shotgun"That sounds like nonsense. How'd that crap make it past your bullshit filter?>So I can imagine an "overall length" problem if you make your ownI don't see how that could even be a problem. Making a stock is a lot of work. It won't come out too short by accident, the only way you'd end up with a gun that was too short (OAL) would be to deliberately make a braindead-short stock and stick it on a gun that already had a very short barrel to begin with. You'd have to work hard to make this a problem, it's not something that would just happen by accident.

>>65031040>How'd that crap make it past your bullshit filter? He's the bullshitter. Probably a glowie trying to discourage legal DIY.
>>65031066Wouldn't a glowie encourage you to do sketchy shit so they can make an example of you?
>>65031023the atf doesnt just do raids by word of mouth, they need a legitimate reasonsadly, those "legitimate reasons" in certain states are word of mouth but only if you're in a red flag law state or whateverthe way they usually get people over things they've heard is if you're at that gunsmith's store and he invites the atf in to have you answer questions before they fuck off after realizing you did nothing, or they (extremely rarely) go undercover and ask you to sell or build them something illegal, which you're retarded if you do
>>65031076They employ a variety of tactics.
>>65031040>>65031113also they can just knock on your door to ask you questions, but if they have no warrant which again they wont without evidence, you can tell them to leavethey will try to pester you into giving them permission to come in and talk or see your shit though
What is everyone's favorite 22lr ammo especially for hunting/plinking vs punching tight holes in paper
>>65031037you shell out the 60 bucks for a set of real magpuls or you take any random pos + superglue and make them non adjustable.the issue with cheap airsoft sights is they fall apart and they dont hold zero. glue fixes both of those issues.if you actually want adjustment pay the money for real parts.
Hey, looking for a 22 bolt gun that's decent. Planning to put a can on it and feed it mostly sub sonic 22, my goal is to be able to take game as quietly as possible in a survival situation. I see video of subsonic 22 taking dear with good shot placement, so that would be my plan. Any recommendations?
>>65032342Also, would 22 mag be a better option? I've never shot subsonic 22 mag but id imagine it would be close to 22 as far as sound right?
>>65032342T1x is better priced than cz and will give you better build quality than cheaper options.Savage g is the best if you just want cheap.
>>65032388They all are kinda cheap so I guess I'll go with the best quality, I do want to keep weight down since I'll be putting on a can and if I ever had to use it outside of larping if imagine I'm gonna be carrying it for a while along with a lot of other gear.
>>65032424Yeah stick with cz and tikka then.I'm having my own bolt action shopping for a target/small game gun but 223 now lol. After market is limited on the cz and t1x but the oem chassis is light and good enough on both so it is whatever still I would recommend you handle both to see which ergos you like more for the optic you want to mount.
>>65032447Almost want to do a 300blk bolt gun, and still might but just how quiet a bolt action 22 can be is insane
>>65030787I have a localish place that has a better selection of resin varieties I'll use, then figure out fiberglass mat sourcing.>Honestly though, why? There's a stock I really like but the only copy someone has made for the rifle I want is made of ply which is heavy as fuck. Also like $700 for a $500 gun. Plus it comes from Eastern Europe, so god help me after shipping and import, etc. Without a scope I'd be looking at like $1500 for gun+stock all for a super heavy stock that doesn't look quite right anyways; I figure it's a good a time as any to learn fiberglass. Also once I learn then I can teach others how.>printedMeh, as a mold, maybe.
