Drop. It fucking sucks. How do you even manage to make a "boron carbide" plate at 6.1 pounds? RMA's alumina is lighter.
I know, I know, lol
But still. Either get 4601s, get 4800s, or get a tungsten stopper from Adept or Gilliam.
>>
>>65145948
Looking at the stitching, it's comparable to an original 6094A. I think it's fine desu
>>
>>65145969
Spartan uses unpressed mystery meat PE because they're cheap. Going off Buff's vid the boron carbide is also a slate gray and it should be darker, so I'm guessing impurities or it's B4C-SiC mix. Stops M2AP at 3,300 conditioned, which is nice. Loses to M993 at 2,850 so it still suffers from B4C amorphization.
It's stronger than the 4601, but it's worth keeping in mind Buff's an affiliate and Spartan comps their affiliates VERY well, so treat his test as best case.
>>
>>65145979
China... wins.

From what I've seen, when they have legit examples to clone from, they can make indistinguishable copies. Also Shekkin is reasonably well regarded.

There's a new King Kong of .338 AP on the market gents. Introducing XM1224 HAMR, replacing .338 Norma M1162 aka Nammo AP529.
>The XM1224 HAMR program is a significant advancement in precision ammunition. No commercially available .338 caliber projectile could provide the terminal performance needed to replace the legacy anti-materiel M107 sniper rifle with its larger and heavier .50 caliber ammunition.
>To deliver the required terminal performance across a wide range of targets at extended ranges, PdM Small Caliber partnered with DEVCOM AC to leverage Picatinny Arsenal’s fully integrated, in-house design and fabrication capabilities. The infrastructure and cutting-edge equipment enabled rapid build-test-build cycles to rapidly meet requirements. The XM1224 HAMR projectile stands as a testament of the synergies between JPEO A&A and DEVCOM AC at the Army’s Center of Excellence for Guns and Ammunition.
Specs are unknown other than the round's name is Hybrid Anti-Materiel Round, it's tungsten core, it outperforms M1162, is very accurate, and it's supposed to equal legacy .50 BMG APs against a variety of hard targets.
If you wanna pop Level IV at extended range without just using explosives or aiming around the plate, this is your ticket provided it falls off the damn truck.

>>65146166
>it's tungsten core
They're going to make about five of them before they realize that they don't have tungsten and that their dwindling supplies are better used elsewhere. Even the Russians, who have way better access to tungsten and have a pretty retarded military bureaucracy, have moved away from tungsten small arms ammo, because it's a very finite resource and tungsten fragments are militarily more effective.
The US Army needs to figure out how to fully deplete uranium or develop advanced steel-core AP. Instead they're wasting everybody's time with this shit.

Agreed. I find it telling that in spite of Russia having developed new APs beyond 7N37, such as 7.62 7N51, .338 7N49, and some new 9x69mm, there is no chatter among foreign legion dudes about getting plates to stop those threats, or even vehicular armor, past the initial 7N37 scare of 2014-2015.
With how people CONUS nerd out about mere M993 plates, despite the statistical improbability of actually facing off against that round, you'd think people on the only battlefield on Earth with 7N37 going around would be shitting their pants. They aren't.
>because it's a very finite resource and tungsten fragments are militarily more effective.
You wanna pop wide coverage soft armor? That's how you do it.
>The US Army needs to figure out how to fully deplete uranium or develop advanced steel-core AP. Instead they're wasting everybody's time with this shit.
They already had depleted uranium sabot 7.62x51mm and .50 cal in 1970. It's real nasty shit. DU isn't used in small arms AP anymore for environmental and toxicity reasons, which I think are super lame. The .50 cal APFSDS/DU I think was good for over 50mm RHA.
>develop advanced steel-core AP
Not happening. You hit a ceiling quick with how good you can make steel-core AP unless you just brute-force with .50 cal Mk263. See how after eighty years there's no better commercially-available steel .30-06 or 7.62x51mm AP than .30-06 M2AP.

Ah yes the secret M3AP.
>>65146988
I remember there being talk of a "wartime exception" in the XM1184 contract where a DU version was allowed, so the M7 could use a DU AP if the chips were down.
Similarly, I see no reason why the same can't exist for XM1224. A depleted uranium AP in the 300-350gr range out of a steel-case, high pressure .338 Norma like that would be phenomenal against hard targets.
>>
>>65147256
I just want DU #4 shot for hitting waterfoul harder than tungsten. Filling up our waterways shouldn't be a problem if DU powder is fine for our in theater warfighter.
>>
>>65147269
Son... DU is less dense than tungsten. It's only a better penetrator in most cases because it's pyrophoric and self-sharpens.
>the self-sharpening thing in theory means DU may actually be inferior against emerging future ceramics and resulting very-high-level body armor.
There was a self-sharpening tungsten alloy called "Liquid Metal" in the mid-00s that had some experimental .408 and .375 Cheytac APs made with it which should be superior to DU Staballoy, but it never went anywhere.

Is the "inner belt" removeable from the outer so you can change it to a different belt or are the straps that the buckles are attached to sewn directly in?

Does the tegris help with rigidity and support?

Right now I use an HSGI Suregrip belt and I rest my ruck on the buttpack trying to use the web/rig belt like a hip belt for the pack. The issue is that the HSGI suregrip like most "tactical" war/battle rig/web style belts is just a flat circle (like time) and doesn't have any hip contour, or structural rigidity like an actual backpacking pack hip belt which effectively transfers the weight of the pack around the hips. The belt just rotates/tips downward in the rear and I find myself hiking for miles resting my rifle on the front belt buckle trying to tip/rotate the front of the belt down and the rear of the belt up to prevent the sag and to support the weight of the pack (and get it off my shoulders/traps).

I'm hoping the tegris and the more anatomical contour of the M-Tac belt might help with this issue?

Any ideas/experience or other recommendations.
Need a belt ASAP. Multiple backpacking trips coming up.

Not unreasonable take. You get actual ruck ergos and capability. It is sorta nice to have the chest clear though, and a war/web/rig belt setup IMO is better suited for larger heavier loads than a chest rig. My current web/war belt rig holds 3L water, 6x AR Mags, radio, coms/earpro/PTT, plus tons of admin room for food, layers, NVGs, etc, pic related. Chest rig can't do that.

Eh, what you're describing sort of assumes that you know with certainty when you're fighting, vs when you're just moving, and or patrolling.

A web rig setup excels at being able to flexibly fight and patrol and do large land movements, without the full encumbrance of a ruck.

not really
I'm sure you don't keep fighting gear in your buttpack, if you had that stuff in a ruck you you would wear the ruck on patrol and drop it in a fight like you would drop the assault pack in your current set up but now you would be less encumbered while fighting because you dropped more equipment

your only argument is that if you had to abandon your pack after dropping it you would have a bit more sustainment on you while you ran away

from what I've seen they're more interested in jammers which are easier to use and have already been showing up at home invasions

Obligatory infographic drop.
Home invasions use the small handheld jammers, they're weak and primarily used to deal with wireless security cameras and cell phones. If they need more firepower desktop jammers are used.
The larger backpack type jammers only show up in South Africa, Ukraine, etc, they're too big to get through customs CONUS.

Lol, speaking of Shenzhen.
I've always been academically interested in the import/export scene for these and other dubious Chinese goods like counterfeit phones and fent.

supposedly a lot of it is coming up through mexico because they're in bed with organized crime in china

Would make sense. The small Shenzhen jammers are small enough they can be man-carried over the border. You could probably do the backpack jammers then but it would require either breaking down and disguising as random electronics or running them in a narco sub / cocaine boat. In that case I fail to see why there aren't rogue backpack jammers in the states already. We should assume there are.
Similarly, there's an old /bag/ urban legend that Russia sold some cartels a decent supply of 5.45 7N39, the heavy-duty tungsten core AP business. Would explain why Doc Roberts has been so adamant in the past about foregoing Level IV plates and focusing on emerging threats.

Only if the jammers are active, and if they're being used for illicit purposes it'll be as cover while a squad of pros is doing commercial break-ins, bank robberies, etc. In other words, not a long time.
The penalties for jammer usage are quite stiff so it doesn't make sense to bust the heavy-duty ones out unless the risk justifies the squeeze - ex you need to block cell phones / UHF & VHF for an entire warehouse, railyard, etc. Overkill for a house.

Scary shit

I also suppose fiber optic drones are going to be unacceptable for use in CONUS by law enforcement down the road, since they leave wire behind, so if clowns needed to screw with police comms and surveillance then the backpack jammers would be handy assuming they have the dB necessary to jam police systems. It can be expected that jammers will improve over time due to battery energy density increases and better thermal management. The jammers also block Lojack, GPS, and other bands so they prevent tracking if bad actors are stoopid and keep their phones in the car / car has a dial home as many new ones do.
Flock cameras obviously can't be jammed if they're hardwired (ditto for all hardwired cams) and would be the backup infrastucture.

Another one.
https://ktla.com/news/local-news/burglars-ransack-sylmar-home-escape-with-300000-worth-of-jewelry-valuables/
This is the "cut the power, jam the cams" technique. The play seems to be wired cams plus battery backup. Security system auto-dials you then the cops if there's a disruption. Response was shit, suspects had nearly an hour undisturbed. If they have that much time then you'll need to harden the shit out of windows, doors, doorframes.
>>65147964
They did their homework. People leave second floor windows and such unlocked all the time. Bars, security film, etc also often are only on the first floor too. Even heavily reinforced crack castles in the hood only do lagged steel security doors with cut down train track frames (iykyk) on the ground floor. If you can get to a balcony you bypass most defenses. Can also be used to get over a fence.
Honestly a collapsing ladder is excellent for urban tactical kit. Even the hobos on /r/vagabond use them to get onto rooftops so they can sleep undisturbed.

Alright, here's something. Yates SOCOM Pocket Ladder.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/137115446265
Haven't seen these before. You're supposed to put the rod in your gun and then use your gun as a tool to hook the hook on something, then you climb up using the ladder after pulling the rod out of your barrel.
It'll get you up eight feet, which is nothing by tac ladder standards but that's at least up and over a fence.

Went to the manufacturer's site and it gets better.

There is a reason all the black and white, cops and robbers movies have and use the expression "second story man". This is nothing new. People forget The Lindbrrgh Baby.

>you can make cheaper
Why even bother? You will never use it. Just buy a collapsing ninja grappling hook for $20. I juslt found my old one (unused) cleaning out the basement. Remember, all this second story man bullshit is larp unless you are an actual thief or an installer. Being an installer, I can offer you a few protips: bring a good hank of accessory cord and tie off you ladder at the top, if you can. Bring a good hank of accessory cord so you can pull up your ladder after you (this can get you to the rooftop of the 2nd story with a 14ft extention ladder). Bring a 5ft step ladder for attic access from the master bedroon closet (worst attic access ever).
>riddle: why do sexually stifled couples keep thier porn in the master bedroom closet?
>answer: shame
Not much of a riddle there.

I've had good luck with a couple different models of goretex Solomons over the last 6+ years. I think they are the Quest 4s and the lighter weight/duty X ultra. Tend to get shitty and funky enough to rotate out before they get chewed up on my end.
