>>
Bill Drill V2 is to add a target transition inbetween each 2 rounds. Trying to keep the same speed as if it was a single target, while smashing the trigger you transition to the next two targets. You start out with the targets basically touching and then space them further as you get better at this drill. 5-7 yards, this is speed drill.

Check out my new pocket pistol, boys. I used to carry a 380 or 32 (ACP & H&R Mag) pocket pistol, but after having babies and therefore being responsible for their safety too I thought I may need something more serious and with the hollow points I picked I’m getting around 930 foot pounds of muzzle energy out of this 3&3/4” barrel.

>inb4 not a pocket pistol
It literally fits in the front pocket of my Ariat work jeans. It’s a pocket pistol.

Unless you have a suppressor on or a particularly long slide, front serrations just don't seem like a great idea because they invite the operator to place his hand near the muzzle (see rule 02 of gun safety). When I manipulate the slide, it's usually to reset the trigger during dry fire and I prefer to use the rear sights and grip frame for leverage. For cartridge checks, I feel the extractor for protrusion if there isn't enough light to see the chamber crevice.

The correct response is to invalidate the state constitution, dissolve the government, break them up into territories and make them reapply for statehood. That's part of being a state, your constitution and all laws MUST align with the US constitution due to the primacy clause. State governments that continuously and flagrantly violate that should be stripped of their statehood until they can behave.

The correct way to avoid the meth addict, fentanyl fiend, neighborhood nigger, and localized latinos is to drive something beat to shit, ugly as hell, with disparging bumper stickers (shit box edition, turd max, please hit me so they total this fucker, etc) and out of state expired plates. Nobody fucks with something like that. You could be rolling around with solid gold bars under the seat and nobody would give it a second look. Especially if you have some gas station food wrappers on the front floorboards, spare clothes and a blanket in the back, and a few obvious second hand books and old newspapers.

I took the 2" King Cobra to the range for the first time today and it went really well. I absolutely need to work on my revolver shooting, but I improved throughout the day and I definitely got some ideas for dry practice. I shot a variety of ammo from 130 grain .38 Special FMJ to classic 158 grain .357 Magnum JSP. All of which performed well (on paper), but I think I actually enjoyed the 158 grain. 357 the most. I thought I was about to drop the damn gun on the first cylinder, but I was one handing it by the end of the day. I suddenly understand the appeal of overpowered hand guns.
I probably won't carry it much, but if I do it will be with Hornady Critical Defense 110 grain .38 Special because I don't think the 135 Grain .357 version is really worth the recoil for practical use.
Thanks for reading my blog. Any thoughts or advice on revolver shooting or ammo selection ect would be appreciated since this is my first revolver.
>>65296530
On a related note, something that I think a lot of people overlook in the caliber debate is recoil impulse. I really like the way a small .380 pistol feels when shooting. Same with an .30 caliber AK or a .357 Magnum snubby, apparently. .22lr is nice too, but it can be quite fun to have something a little more substantial in your hand.
Also, if you are talking about a defensive handgun, center fire ammunition is generally accepted to have more reliable primer ignition.

Im reposting this as a question about good .22 platforms to purchase to train on. the walther .22 is on sale at turners right now but the idea of reloading 10 round 22 mags sounds like bullshit.

Im getting a .22 handgun and maybe another rifle in LR since my marlin 60 isnt exactly the best to train on

and I doubt Im gonna get good at fundamentals learning with a ruger wrangler in SA

any .22 for training suggestions?

You honestly don’t need a 22 to learn fundamentals, it’ll get you a lot of live fire in, but you can learn a lot of fundamentals just dry firing a normal gun

You say Turners, you're in Caliphoney? If so why is 10 rounds a Walther-specific problem

Anywho I don't recommend the 22X, it has a weird grip and a weird trigger, most of the mags on mine stick on release and it won't work with hardly anything but CCI Minimag which sucks because I bought it to silence. Also the P22 is quite small to be a trainer

nta but porting is not really effective, especially for 9mm
you're just venting gases, there's not a meaningful amount of mass being expelled and not a large area being acted on
Porting probably reduces muzzle flip by like 5-10% depending on the design of the ports
9mm is also just not a very energetic round. 147 +P would probably give you better results, but it's not going to perform the same as something like a ported 10mm
compensators are a different story because a well-designed compensator both adds weight and allows more shaping and leverage to the escaping gases
>>
>>65297246
>nta but porting is not really effective, especially for 9mm
Uhhh, yes, and no. Depends on the style and location of ports. The V style ports along the barrel work better than the chamber at the end of the barrel.

>>
>>65297510
>is a .380 even a viable caliber for self defense??
Yes, absolutely. I really like Horneday Critical Defense for carry ammo in most calibers and especially. 380 acp. The only real downside is that it .380 is a little more expensive than 9mm for range ammo, but it is about the same for defensive ammo.
The best gun in .380 right now is almost undisputedly the S&W Bodyguard 2.0. It is right between the LCP and Shield size wise and about the same price as the Shield. The upside to the Shield is that 9mm is the cheapest centerfire practice ammo because it's the most popular.
You should probably go try some guns out at a rental range if you can, but you should at least pick up a few in the gun store.
You can also use Handgun Hero to bench race pistols, but it isn't nearly as good as holding the damn things.

If price is a concern of yours, consider that the difference between the upfront cost of the firearms doesn't matter quite as much as the average long-term cost of the ammo if you actually shoot a reasonable amount. Right now, 380 is ~10 cents more expensive per round than 9mm for standard range ammo, and hollow points can be around 2x as expensive. Also consider that my girlfriend dislikes shooting my kahr cw380, but she hates shooting my fn reflex. But women always seem super finicky about finding a gun that they like to shoot. They always seem to have trouble understanding that just because a gun feels comfortable in their hand, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will feel good to shoot. Your wife may be different, idk. The best thing for you to do would be to take her to a range and rent a few guns for her to try before you go spending money on something, hoping she will like it. I found that the best way to do things was to have my own concealed carry handgun that is tailored specifically to me, and to also have a bedside handgun that works for her and me equally. That being said, 380 is absolutely a viable self defense cartridge. Plenty of people throughout history have been killed by 32 and 25. You just need to understand that it has shortcomings compared to modern 9mm loadings. 380 out of a short barrel often struggles to achieve adequate penetration and expansion simultaneously. Some people forgo pursuing expansion entirely, in favor of proper penetration by just carrying fmj. Some people accept that they're paying extra for hollow points that may end up not expanding at all, but believe that a chance of expansion is better than a 0% chance. So you're giving up potential ballistic performance for lower recoil when choosing 380 over 9mm. There is no correct choice. You just have to research, experiment, and find what works best for you.
>>
>>65298012
Keep training. All the work you do with the dot applies to your skill with irons, you will become a better shooter having learned how to use a dot. Honestly it teaches you in ways irons cannot.

>>
>>65297510
Everything this anon said is accurate
>>65298104
But I will add that pretty much anyone who isn't a combat professional or totally drugged the fuck out is going to stop doing whatever they are doing if you shoot them with basically any caliber. Most ammunition testing is done to law enforcement standards, which well exceeds99.9% of civilian use cases. The key difference is that the piggywinks need to apprehend someone after they shoot them and you just need to run away.

I'm totally an operator. I operate a fork lift from time to time.
>>
>>65298342
Why the fuck do you want straight blowback
>>
>>65298342
>straight blowback
Why? I get there aren't many options for threaded .380s but that's an odd desire.

Anywho probably not just because there are so few threaded .380s that large. I think you'd be better served by a 9mm using 147gr with a bit more recoil but far cheaper ammo. But if a P365-380 or such is too small, yeah the BOX is probably the choice. There is an XL version of the P365-380 tho, not sure about threaded barrel availability
>>
>>65298342
There's nothing wrong with straight blowback, per se, but it isn't ideal for suppressing. Essentially, the breach can open and release propellant gas early and can minimize the sound suppression. At least in theory. I haven't seen any empirical testing but that's what the Fudd lore is anyway.
It's basically the same line of thought that says suppressing an AK is useless.

It’s not great, it’s hard to tell if you are making defined grouping. I prescribe that you should dry fire, where the gun is unloaded, and you just practice pulling the trigger without disturbing the sights. The gun should not move when you pull the trigger. Do this and ideally every round goes into the same hole in live fire, it’s hard to do with iron sights since they aren’t very precise but it’s possible.

This is one of the oldest targets on my phone.

I potentially bought a DIY build SVI Infinity (they sold bare frames for a short while) thinking it was a genuine high end build. Still pretty cool though. The slide to frame fit is not what I expected from an INFINITY but with a new grip, refinish, this thing will be sick. Don’t know what I’m going to do for the optic cut though.

No, a plate is roughly like a B8 but a little bigger

it does do high vis from black sights to white target, black sights on black target is kind of aids IMO

Its hard to judge without knowing how many shots each group was intended to contain, since the ones off the plate are lost in the backer. But from those groups, even if you were shooting twice as far, you'd be hitting torso which is far more accurate than any opp's likely to be

Honestly better than most handgun owners in the US but of course there's plenty of room for improvement. What's stoppin ya from getting in more range time? It's not just round count but through frequency that you will earn improvement. Go regularly and try to work on something each time you go. You will be astonished at how fast you can potentially improve

>>65298890
Cause you don't need em. Where applicable, a manual safety is the ONLY control a lefty absolutely must have bespoke for your mutation*, everything else you can do effortlessly with your index finger or slingshotting

It doesn't really matter. What do you like? I primarily use these two. I like the Champion grids for zeroing, they're cheap as heck at 30 cents and each one gives you 5 discrete zones plus you can aim at the intersections and terminations of the red bars for even more groups before having to change targets. B8s are classic, a lil more expensive, but ubiquitous for comparison with others. Or just use Dollar General picnic plates with cheap circular sticker labels in the middle, works great

I like baker targets if you're buying in bulk. They got great prices and the high vis paint ones really do well around dusk for the folks who shoot outdoors after work, adds like 15-20 minutes to the range trip in the fall which matters if you get off at 4 or 5pm. I order like 200 once every couple years.

>I find that my left targets are easier to hit than ones on the right.
Weird question but have you confirmed that you are using your dominant eye? I had the same issue back in middle school with church league archery before I figured out I was right handed but left eye dominant. To test it just hold out your pointer finger and cover something like a light switch across the room. Close one eye, then the other and see which eye open matches what it looks like when you have both eyes open. That's your dominant eye. That may help, but honestly just dry fire will improve your groups immensely and doesn't cost a dime or force you to leave your house.

I like the PA micro prisms and don't see anyone else doing it well, happy to be reccomended something better though.

I like having a vfg for hog hunting, I found with my AKs it makes it easier to maintain a ready position and still be relatively relaxed on multi hour treks and figured I should get one for my ar too. Not all of us just shoot paper.

Good LMT burn ngl, but I like mine and have no problems. It's definitely heavier than other builds but I'm used to AKs so it's light in comparison.

I dont see the need to break out my surefeeds for a short range trip, but next time I'll break out the good stuff just for you buddy.

Pressure switches are genuinely retarded. Nobody has ever said "ah man I wish I could activate my light faster, that would make a big difference!" But my buddies with tape switches ND their lights like all the time. Just added weight with only cost and no real benefit.

Anyways post your AR set up and sidearm

>>65299572
I like it! Haven't got a chance to really put a ton of miles on it yet unfortunately but it has padding where it matters and does what I want it to do. As with everything I'll need to use it for a couple years before I could give a real educated response but for the short time I've used it I dig it. For sure beats some of the slings I've used over the years.

Get some snap caps and look of some videos on dry fire. I absolutely promise you that 6 to 8 hour of solid investment will get you at least combat effective.
>I went boomer mode and used plates for targe
Nothing wrong with that. Maybe use a file dot or shoot-n-see in the middle as a reference point.
You can probably hang 4 or even 6 targets in that area. Load 5 rounds, shoot them all at one target, observe, reflect and do ot again on another target.
This os an extremely simple skill to learn. I believe in you anon!
I mean, even women can do it.

It's a Stoeger-Park-McNabb "bucket" target, an IPSC silhouette narrowed to where your sights would track. It was my first ever attempt at a faux Bill drill (drawing from the holster isn't allowed at that range), shooting faster than one round per second.

Oklahoma had weird laws. Would work when I was on my buddies land but not at the Lexington WMA I usually hunted at so I didn't see the advantage compared to just getting set up just before dawn and then if I didn't get anything treking around the WMA. Anyways, curious about any micro prism options you know of outside of PA.

Pro tip for yall, pineapple salsa really helps make hog meat more tender since it can get a bit tough. Makes some great tacos.

Far as cope COG's go, PA is good as it gets. Micro prisms are pretty niche so I don't imagine there'll be competition for PA any time soon.

It's cheaper because it's popular. My .25 ACP is way smaller than 9mm but it costs twice as much. It's only a little bigger than .22 and is insane in comparison. That's how economics works, dude.

>>65297510
Every caliber is "viable" for self defense, depending on how you use it and the situation. Unless they're high on meth or something, people are going to react to A. being shot at and B. being hit by a bullet of any size. They might not react too much if it's a smaller round, but they will feel it. Since you're going to be carrying, you want to go for stuff like JHP (or the other stuff people have been suggesting) along with some heavier grain FMJ. Just remember to practice with it. And, yeah, .380 is going to be a little more expensive than 9mm, and maybe harder to find depending on your area, but it's not insanely expensive.

>>65299047
I already have one. A Raven Arms MP-25.
