Anons of /hg/ riddle me this:

You are looking for a .22lr handgun, a pocket pistol, something that is very compact. You want a threaded barrel for your suppressor. You want this gun to be good for plinking and good for sticking in a pocket of your camping backpack or bug out bag. You plan on using high velocity rounds because you have another .22 that likes them.

What are some of the first things you want to look at in this hypothetical, if you're a revolverfag that doesn't know much about guns in this caliber and size.
>>
>>65351309
>You are looking for a .22lr handgun, a pocket pistol, something that is very compact.
Pocket pistols don't normally come with threaded barrels for obvious reasons.
>>
>>65351329
I was thinking it might have become more common since the tax on cans dropped, and I would like one gun that does multiple things than two for the separate purposes, honestly.
>>
>>65351285

Oi.
Thinking about changing the p08 for a p1/ postwar p38 because im too lazy to reload.
>>
>>65351309
I wouldn't at all since there are like four pistols ever that aren't revolvers (plus the 0/22) that can even handle feeding .22 LR reliably due to it being rimfire. The rest sounds like a funny meme but also counterproductive. Smith CSX in all fields other than the barrel part and that's a 9mm.
>>
>>65351338
Rimfire really isn't that popular for self defense, so your options for a modern pocket gun are already slim. For your case I recommend the TX22, its a full size handgun but its extremely light and comes with a threaded barrel adaptor.
>>
>>65351309
The smallest 22lr handguns with threaded barrels that you'll find are the beretta bobcat 20x and the walther p22q. Though neither is really good for concealing in a pants pocket, per say.
>>
File: 90s kid stuff.jpg (970 KB, 2000x1333)
970 KB JPG
>>65351309
Beretta 21A Covert is like the only one unless you drop at least one of those requirements. But it needs very spicy ammo because it has no extractor, and it only holds 6 cartridge clips. Also don't carry a .22 for any kind of defense. If you intend to use it to plink nasty when you're innawoods carry on

Minus the threaded barrel the smallest RELIABLE .22 you're gonna find is probably the Third Bay Ounce but it's expensive and weird and it takes over 9,000 seconds to reload. Equally small but super reliable is the Ruger LCP .22. The next smallest probably Walther P22, it's pretty smol and can be reliable with the right ammo. Bigger than that and you may as well just get a Ruger Mark or Taurus TX22. Also, the TX22 Compact seems to suck so probably don't consider that even though it's smallish
>>
>>65351280
>Why not put a comp on a slide that fits?
The comp is frame mounted, somewhat like the old muzzle stand-off devices from Botach. These are a bolt-on comp that requires no new barrel or slide and requires no extended or threaded barrel so they are 50 state legal. The comp portion just sits in front of the muzzle.
>>
>>65351353
>Though neither is really good for concealing in a pants pocket, per say.
It's really not about concealment so much as it is weight - ounces become pounds, after all.

It's a single stack 10 shot .22 in a medium-large format that comes in a gorillion variants. In its default form it's relatively mediocre but the aftermarket ceiling is high. It's good but even the Lite versions aren't all that light, and they all cum with magazine disconnects now

You should also consider Federal HST 147, particularly if you’re price sensitive. It sometimes gives me some vertical stringing at longer distances, but it always performs well in gel tests.

if I'm carrying 115gr hollow points in a particular gun, should I be training with 115gr round nose instead of 124gr?
>>
>>65351739
Doesn’t really matter, because the powder charge will be different, so you’re still gonna have point of impact shift. I recommend 124 gr training ammo because it’s comfier than 115, though.

Maybe I just need to train drawing more or dress differently, but I feel like I'm unable to quickly draw from appendix. I know it defeats the point but does anyone open carry appendix? Not a fan of carrying on the hip for open carry because it's just uncomfortable

Try it out, everyones body is shaped differently so you may find it works best for you, and what works best for you is what you should be doing.

>>
>>65352495
Open carry on my hip is uncomfortable, appendix is fine.
My problem is that I have a difficult time quickly drawing from appendix with my shirt I suppose. The gun is a PX4 compact. Whenever I draw my shirt gets caught between my hand and gun, which is why I had the thought to just open carry

This is the answer 100% of the time, for all of us. For our chonky friends, I would probably just go ahead and recommend a strong side carry in the 2 to 5 o'clock range. Tends to work out best for the chonk brothers I've known.

My wife has wanted to start carrying but wants to start with 22. Shes willing to move to larger calibers once she gets comfortable with it but thats where she wants to start. Whats the best self defense 22 handgun for carry? I was thinking maybe a revolver to offset the 22 reliability issues since you can just keep pulling the trigger, but I am open to suggestions.
>>
>>65353074
.22 is not a good carry caliber. If she's uncomfortable with pistols, I'd say get a plinker .22 pistol and her just practice with it until she's comfortable.

If this isn't an option, then another anon hopefully knows a good model.

Just bought a Maadi Helwan Brigadier, it's one of the Interarms imports, which I'm told are closer in quality to the original run than the later imports from Navy Arms and Century. I like the old school 80's aesthetics, especially the horizontal ridges on the grips. I don't mind that it's only single action and has a lower mag capacity. I spent $380 on it, and haven't had the chance to fire it yet. Am I retarded for this impulse buy?

StopBox? But honestly you can probably toss it on the concrete a few times and it pops open, it’s a purely mechanical lock so it can’t drain its battery and not open. It’s TSA approved if you use their additional cable lock. It’s light weight. It’s more of a retention device than a safe or a vault.

I used to sell them to unsuspecting people, telling them how great it works and I have 5 of them at home (I have zero). With some practice you can actually open it super fast, there’s about 81 different combinations for its buttons. Would be very hard for a kid to open and not hard for you to open. Unless they start bashing it.
>>
>>65353116
Not that bad. I think there’s a guy who makes upgraded locking blocks (wear item on the 92 style guns). People say they are very mechanically accurate.
>>
>>65353154

22LR is not so great for carry. If you want to get a 22 for her to start learning on, fine, but I wouldn't get one that is a carry gun as it wont be much of a target gun to learn on. e.g. a Ruger MkIV is easier to learn to shoot well than a Ruger LCR or LCRx.

Alternatively get her a heavy target centerfire 9mm that soaks up recoil, so she can learn to shoot centerfire. A 9mm 1911 is easy to shoot, as will most heavy metal framed 9mms.
>>
>>65353074
Foids are so retarded
>Uncomfortable with anything but .22
Besides terminal ballistics, how is a .22 different from carrying a 9x19? Does she think an effective self defense caliber will nuke the ground she's standing on? Psychologically what is different? Both are handguns, both shoot bullets. This infuriates me

>>
>>65353237
It's a nice size from carry, not rimfire, tip-up will be easier if she has weaker hand strength, and I think .32 is fine for self defense. When you say Bodyguard 2.0, are you talking about the S&W Bodyguard revolver in .38 special? Or, and I assume this is the case, the M&P semi-auto that's 9mm? I have a buddy with an M&P 2.0 and it does have gentle recoil, but it's also a bigger, heavier gun, and not one I personally would want to EDC. But I prefer a pocket revolver, so it just isn't my style in broad strokes. I don't think my girlfriend would be comfortable with something so bulky as an EDC though, she keeps an LCP on her.

I’ve flown a bunch with a gun, probably the best way to do it is:
>everything in one pelican air 1615 case, clothes, gun, everything
>buy high quality locks that are very difficult to cut like Abus
>stick an AirTag in the case
>roll of tamper tape, like $8 on Amazon
>pack with gun on top
>wheel your shit to oversize
>print out the federal rules
>ask for firearm declaration, they’ll have TSA check your bag most likely and give you a card to stick on top
>close it, apply tamper tape, lock, zip-tie, photograph
>send it on its way
>track your shit with the air tag
It’s miserable but the only thing satisfying about it is the thrill of knowing TSA can’t legally look through your shit, and at your destination if you can’t find your luggage, you get to loudly say “WELL IF YOU CANT FIND IT THEN THERES A LOOSE GUN IN THE AIRPORT. THAT SEEMS DANGEROUS! YOU DONT KNOW WHERE MY GUN IS?”
>>
Once when flying from Houston to Philly I had a loaded PPK mag in my bag that I had completely forgot about. The TSA people at Hobby weren't shocked in the least lol, they said I could check it so I did that.

Noob here, when shooting target focused with both eyes open do you just have to accept that there's going to be a ghosted image of the gun to the side and ignore it or are you able to train your eyes to completely get rid of it? I get the same thing with red dots too. Even using the tape occlusion method where I'm able to properly transpose the dot over the focused target I get a 40% opacity ghosted image of the gun to the side.
>>
>>65353356

Yeah, I was like "oh shit" when he pulled it out, to his credit he wasn't phased at all.

Another time I was leaving annual training when I was in the reserves, I used my assault pack as my range bag as a civilian and when flying out of Minneapolis it kept hitting for gunpowder residue and they kept searching, repacking, and resending it through the x ray machine. They finally found a spent .45 casing in there and just threw it away.
>>
>>65353371
Seconding this. Bodyguard 2.0 is basically the perfect gun for girls. Just make sure to give it a look over for QC issues like the feed ramp and sights being off to the left on seemingly half of them in existence. Just feels (both shooting and ergonomics) like a 9m thats been shot with a shrink ray and chambered in 380. Love this thing for lazy/no pants carry. I'm still trying to justify spending more than the price of it itself (200 cut + 300) to mount a 507k. Those shitty dovetail mounted dots have horrible QC and are ugly af.

No, it doesn't. You just haven't been told that you're supposed to do most of your gripping with your support hand. There's a reason every single competition shooter that's worth a shit uses essentially the same grip.

What's the appeal? Is it just muh 2 world wars? Are the triggers really that good? If straight pull is so much better than hinge triggers, why don't precision rifles use them? This don't even a shit post I just have never shot one and don't get it at all

It's from anticipating recoil or not pulling the trigger perfectly straight back. Very common.

Deviant Ollam, despite being an extremely weird fucker, has a great three part series on YouTube about how to fly with guns, too
That’s where I learned most of it
>>
>>65353446
1. Highly adjustable ergos.
>Grip too wide/narrow? Get smaller/larger panels.
>Trigger reach issues? There are at least 3 different trigger lengths to choose from.
>Grip panel doesn't have enough real estate for your support hand? Arched mainspring housing pushes the back your firing hand out of the way.
>Not to mention undercuts, beavertails, different sizes of magwells, extended safeties, etc. etc.
2. Best trigger on any auto pistol ever.
>Straight back trigger pull is the easiest to master by far. There's a reason why almost all beginners shoot better with a 19/2011
>Single action means it can be made to do literally anything. Heavy, light, rolling break, crisp break, whatever.
3. Institutional knowledge.
>Gunsmiths and hobbyists have been working over the 1911 platform for well over 100 years. Accurization is very well understood process.

Can I please be shilled a reliable rubber grip tape, please?
I would like good grip while also not an uncomfortable kind of grip.
I've had stuff slip out of my hands before. And I'm not sure what rubber grip pattern is best.
>>
>>65353446
to add to the other post
1. There is something mechanically very nice to the 1911 swinging link action and the hammer. The recoil spring + hammer spring of hammer fired guns make them shoot nicer than strikers but there is something really good about the 1911/2011.
2. The triggers are really that good. Precision rifles have such short travel and light weight they don't need them. Rifle actions can have the trigger behind the actual action so the triggers can have really nice geometry, even a mil spec AR-15 has a nice trigger compared to handguns, pistols you have to do all sorts of weird geometry to get around the magazine being behind the trigger and action to be right above the trigger.

They're just really nice.

Go shoot a Staccato at a range if you can, the Staccato is the "standard" for 2011s (formerly STI, they are the creators of the 2011 so they're legally the only people who can call their gun a 2011, others have to say "1911 Double Stack" despite being the same thing). It might be dirty and beat to shit though, they do need more "maintenance" than other guns.

Lesser guns
>Springfield Prodigy or otherwise called the Springfield Poverty
>Kimber 2K11, similar quality but lesser build quality (uses MIM components instead of billet)
>Kimber Warrior DS, budget version of the 2K11 meant to undercut the Poverty. More classic 1911 build than a 2011 (bushing barrel, GI guide rod, internal extractor)
>Tisa/MAC DS, they are turkish guns. Good base for modifications
>Alpha Foxtrot, literal who manufacturer
>Live Free Armory, Apollo, literal who company but somehow makes a 2011 for under 1k in the US that doesn't shit itself immediately
>Dan Wesson DWX, not actually a 2011 but similar enough, different action but 1911 trigger
>Sig P211, not actually a 2011 since everything is Sig proprietary but is basically a 2011 but nothing is parts compatible. Real 2011s are nearly 100% parts compatible with each other and even 1911s since 2011s use the same slides, barrels, hammer/fire control, everything except the things that need to be wider for the double stack magazine.

Better guns than the Staccato
>ATLAS, very high end production gun
>Nighthawk and tons of other custom builders where builds can be personalized. Too many to list because you'll probably never see them at a rental range, where I think someone ITT has shot an Atlas at a rental range.

The straight pull doesn't matter, the attributes of the trigger do. And they ARE shared with very good rifle triggers too. Short, light takeup, a hard wall, an extremely crisp break, and super short reset. These are all innate to a 1911 trigger, though some will have a little creep or grit due to slop or a firing pin block. It takes a lot of special attention to match almost any other handgun's trigger to a bone stock 1911 trigger. A basic bitch 1911 trigger is already equal to or beyond the maximum sunk-cost potential of most other handguns. Couple that with very low recoil for caliber and it's clearly a winning combination

Go shoot one dawg

>trigger is very nice, great
>slide to frame fit is nice
>optic plate is held on by 2 tiny ass screws
>everything I want in a carry/duty 1911

The 10-8 masterclass is basically a TRP but with 10-8 parts and modifications

Your wild bunch class might mandate classic 1911 styling instead of modern

For me, a Springfield Loaded and a Staccato P represent solid "service" or "duty" grade pistols that represent each platform pretty well. They're reliable and accurate enough for most uses. From there, you're spending quite a bit of money for refinements, improvements and more attention to detail.

I throttled back on my 1911 game, back down to a Springfield Loaded circa 2014 or so. Found it checks most every box I would like checked on the 1911 front.

I had a very finnicky 2011 almost two decades ago. Always loved the idea of them, but it was definitely part of that class of gun that required a lot just to achieve baseline functionality for a day on the flat range. Between the gun and the mags, I was frustrated enough to sell it off. The Staccato P reignited that spark and after watching trustworthy folks deem it reliable and seeing the mags come from the factory ready to function...I bit. Very content with that decision, has been a great gun. You still have to pamper it on the cleaning and lubrication fronts relative to something like a striker fired duty gun, but it has been far from finnicky and it doesn't get too sluggish going a couple thousand rounds with only additional lube applied.
>>
>>65353595
Any of springfield's sub-$1000 offerings are solid choices, especially with springfield's lifetime warranty for the original purchaser. The trp has a couple of extra features over the other "lesser" options, but it's not worth the ~$500 price increase imo. Not to mention the trp is getting very close to dan wesson prices. Dan wessons are great, but you have to ask yourself if you're really getting twice the gun when you're paying twice the price. If that's what you truly want, and you can afford it, then go for it. But the operator is a good choice, especially if you shop around.

P220 style hood locking instead of 1911 lugs, some sort of linkless barrel for the lower lugs

1911 style trigger, 1911 style safety, but does not actually use 1911 parts. It shot like a 1911/2011 but I wasn't in love with the ergos. I like grip safeties, you can hold the gun in a way to not activate the grip safety for holstering or unholstering administratively.

.380 ACP is an automatic caliber ( ACP stands for automatic colt pistol), .38 could mean .38 Special +P usually which is a revolver caliber and is basically 9mm power if not a little weaker.

.380 ACP < .38 Special +P < 9x19mm Parabellum

The issue with the DWX is that it'd overpriced by about $500 retail. With being such a standard contender in the 9mm market, they've kind of pigeonholed themselves into a weird grey area of being simultaneously too expensive to be desirable

The bodyguard 2.0 shot the hg-qual-7-26 pretty well with the exception of the final smallest tombstone which trailed left with each shot into the other tombstones. I didn't one hand the picard's button, I never shoot one handed and didn't want to absolutely fuck my target up

Do you not like the m&p? The hellcat is fine, just as snappy as the g43x which others are happy to ignore the snappiness of. The issue is that the shield plus, bodyguard 2.0, and vp9cc, CSX-E and HK cc9 are all better tinygun options and with the exception of the vp9cc can all be had for around $300-450 if you hunt around.

Speaking of, shot the cc9 at the rental range today. Left group is the other /handgun/, top right is my first group, right diamond is my second group. All three 7 yards slow ish fire although this gun really ran fast in my hands. Didn't side by side it with any other micro9 but I'd bet it shoots slow fire as fast as a glock 43x or springfield hellcat would shoot fast fire just due to the latter 2 options having such severe muzzle flip.

God I wish this gun wasn't so FUCKING ugly because it may be the best micro 9 I've shot yet.

And here is the arex tactical hg-qual-7-26 attempt with PPU 124 gr. The holes are rougher and I had a light strike. Not sure if thats due to having just replaced the hammer spring for a lighter competition hammer spring or just the ammo being finicky and old.

All in all it was a fun challenge.

He's underselling it, he had a light strike on his reman ammo so he held it one handed for like an extra 10 seconds while he cycled it through to restrike. Me personally I'd get tired and miss with my arm extended holding a heavy revolver one handed, but he absolutely showed me up. Fucker.

Correct. Cartridge naming conventions vary wildly depending on the norms of the time, place and designers associated with any given cartridge. Always be aware that just because two cartridges appear similar in name, dimension or appearance, that does not necessarily mean they are compatible or interchangeable.

Yeah they look good, but if the grip is too short and sucks, no amount of good lucks will fix that. My Dad has a mod 92 SB compact and I had to get magwell spacers so it's doesn't suck as much to hold.

It's pretty sweet, honestly. I got lucky and found a GB listing and got it for MUCH cheaper than MSRP. Even came with the factory box, papers and test round.

It's carryable. The grip makes shooting even hot .357 Mag a breeze and the gold beat sights are really nice

Noblex has a grip of new optics with turboretarded German nomenclature and a typo or something naming two different ones the same thing which makes it worse. The Acro ones have the design language of the made-in-Taiwan model so perhaps they also are. The others kind of have an Osight vibe

I’m getting my dry fire reps in, I’ve done a few thousand dry fires in the last few days. I’m definitely looking at competing in some local tournaments

I didn’t realize how good at was at noticing minor changes in pattern, but my sights are off by about 1/16th of an inch or so for me (just enough that I can see ever so slightly more laser then I should poking between the gap of my front eight post and rear sight post). It’s not even a factory issue, it’s just the way I shoot

It’s weird when I get to know THAT much about my firearm and myself. I definitely enjoy all the additional time I’ve put in

For my duty firearm I put a touch pad on my handgun light, which has a 1,000 lumen light. The idea being when I’m coming out of the holster and I’m death gripping my handgun I’ll end up disorienting an attacker

Can you post pictures of it? I had no idea the warrior DS was bull barrel. How does the reverse plug work?

Red Team Armory has mags for 42 bucks each, they also have shorter 11 rounders. With different followers and springs you can increase the capacity of the 11 rounder to 13-14 rounds. No idea what you can do with the long 13 round body which I think is 155 or 170mm but they call it 140mm for some fucking reason. Way longer than a real 140mm.

Same. I'm not interested in the 3.6, but I am interested in the 4 and 4.5. I was practically sold on picking up a Staccato P, and then these things were announced like four weeks later. Now that the HD line is out, I can't bite the bullet on a P without trying these out first. You've reminded me, I read that a range about 20 minutes from me is the largest Staccato dealer in the state. I'm going to call them right now and see if they've got the HD line available for rental.

Shoot it through my buddies stribog or my FN509c because both eat literally anything I toss at them.

Or just toss it out man you're worrying about such a small ammount of money just by the generic brand mustard at the store next time and youd save more than you lost.
>>
>>65355966
I'm leaning towards the HD P4 now. I don't have giant hands but I hate grips that force your pinky to hang off. Means that conceal carrying is going to be difficult if not impossible though.

What range? If you don't want to give away too much info because doxxing concerns then don't worry about it. A range near me has a few staccatos in stock for rental, sadly not the 3.6.

I do, which is exactly why I have no interest in the 3.6 lol. I'd rather print than shoot a gun a small grip.

The range is Uncoiled Firearms in Livonia, MI. I did just call them, and they confirmed they have the entire Staccato lineup available for rental. I'm going to have to drop in there within the next week or two.

I would say it's the most cost effective "correct" 2011 style pistol you can get right now. Modular Ds, purely American made, optics and rail, with multiple calibers it's at least on paper the Toyota 86 of 2011's. Have to actually shoot the thing though, as said earlier the coating is definitely existing put would need some form of refinishing at a earlier than expected date.

I'm trying to clean that range rental SP2022, i've stripped down the slide but i can't FOR THE LIFE OF ME, get that fucking pin (pic related) off even one bit. Said pin holds the firing pin safety and the firing pin in place so i need to remove that shit.

Is it a special pin with some kind of taper ? I swear i've been at it with a solid hammer and that shit is going nowhere, the punch is gonna give up before anything else.

On my model this is NOT a coiled / roll pin. It's seems like a solid pin with a somewhat rounded end on both sides.
>>
Is there a 2011 but in .50
>>
>>65356269
My Infinity 2011 in the OP is in .40. .40 was one of the more popular calibers for the 2011 since it allowed it to compete in major, this was before 9mm MAJOR became popular and it was more easily bought than .38 Super.

There's plenty of older 2011s in .40, but they're often beat to shit and also not very reliable.

You could buy the new Kimber Warrior DS in 10mm and then fit a .40 S&W barrel (Fusion Firearms .40 S&W government bull barrel with wilson nowlins ramp), or just shoot 10mm like a man.
>>
>>65356291
No I fucking looked at doing a .50 GI conversion to a 2011 and guncrafter hasn't done it so you can't.

Perhaps if someone made a .45 caliber glock mag 2011 it would be possible since you could then use the .50 cal glock mags and use the guncrafter .50 cal 1911 slide and barrel. Very unlikely all the stars would align for that build to work.
>>
>>65356289

These are very narrow, model-specific engineering things, not a quality blanket. There just happen to be a lot of them

Yes they're fine. Hell one of my favorite guns is from their worst-of-the-worst years and it's been wonderful

Also, you can just get almost any gun you want cut for whatever footprint you want. Pic related was made 6 years before Sig started doing factory (proprietary) optic cuts
>>
>>65357212
They’re okay from what I hear. I think the older, short extractor is supposed to be better, but the newer milled slide is better than the old stamped one where they had to attach the breech block in with a pin. I don’t really love the SA only Legion guns, and I don’t like the Legion cerakote finish, so I’d stick to the non-Legion guns. They’re still mega pigfat, especially without the EE grips, but I’m a handlet.
>>
>>65357212
>Are they decent or have the metal guns fallen victim to nusig shittiness?
I can't really tell you. Ron Cohen has been in charge of Sig (since 2005) for almost as long as I have been into guns. The Sig forums used to be full of enthusiastic Sig owners cursing all the issues they had with their purchases. Back then Bruce Gray was promising to fix Sig 220 extraction issues with a new extractor that he never actually released. There was a small cottage industry of refinishing Nitron slides that rusted from looking at them. The 220ST that I had back then worked fine however. Sig has likely been up and down and up with the metal framed models for a decade before the 320 fiasco.

The 226, 229 are great guns. I'd take a chance on them if I wanted one. I am not sure on the optic cut compatibility, or if conversion plates needed. Don't get the fancy models (Legion) if they are Cerakoted. Just get the more basic option with the optic cut (Elite) and upgrade (grips, trigger, etc) from there.

AI sloppa for fun but honest question. If HK made a 2011 that took vp9/p30 mags would it sell?
>>
>>65357266
Not as well as a modernized USP would
>>
>>65357266
HK has literally never made a racey gun, so, no, it wouldn’t sell. It would suck.

For the purpose of breaking in a trigger does dry firing accomplish the same thing as live fire? Like if I pick up a new gun can I just sit and rack the slide pull the trigger a hundred times a minute for an hour and break it in?
>>
>>65357349
Sure, but you might as well be actually dryfiring rather than just pulling the trigger on the couch like a retard.
>>
>>65357349
yeah basically
you'd be better served by putting 200 rounds through it and then taking some Flitz to any areas where you see wear on the trigger mechanisms
break-in is different from a nice trigger on a really old gun because break-in is basically fitment of the action by the friction surfaces burnishing against each other which doesn't happen with dryfire
>>
>>65355816
Sure, it might be the better grip for target shooting but it's not a combat oriented.

>>
>>65357888
Mk23s go for like 2500 new so I'd guess somewhere around 3000 for a base model with no optic cut and black irons, but if it had paddles it would sell
>>
HK did say for them to make a factory optic cut hammer fired handgun it would cost about 4m in R&D and likely be purely for the consumer market and thus not realistic. Maybe that changes if it's targeting the 2011 market, but 2011 people probably wouldn't want paddles and HK nerds probably wouldn't want an hk 2011 with button mag release. Idk, who's to say

>>

2011 people are 1911 people and they are used to button mag release. Paddle fans are in the minority. Common race guns are what, glocks, 2011s, shadow 2s, etc. I don't think many people looking for a race gun are going to want to get used to paddle after using nothing but button. Ofc I'm assuming that this theoretical HK 2011 is going to be marketed towards comp shooting and not like a "compact" carry gun
>>
>>65358337
>glocks, 2011s, shadow 2s
As race guns get towards more racist side of things, only 2011s tend to remain.

What the guy in the email meant is that he would waste 4 million in the process of making an optics cut slide. It doesn't take 4 million to mill a few slides then test them for 20k rounds and some salt water or whatever their testing process is. Somehow small gunsmiths manage to make new cuts without 4 million all the time

not defending the terrible company but you need to update engineering drawings, update tooling and manufacturing, assembly line space for the new machine, etc. 4 million is insane and likely includes some forced diversity supervisor or some shit to make sure the optic cut is equitable

High up HK likely does not care about the civilian market as all which is a huge mistake since the US civilian market drives firearm innovation. HK will NEVER see a contract for a hammer fired handgun with an optic so there is no reason for them to retool to make it. Probably the only hammer fired handgun to see a new military contract is the Staccato HD line.
>>
>>65358680
It likely includes a horrendous development cycle as is normal in large companies. Iteration after iteration and decisions happening at the speed of 1 meeting a week.

the internal audit to come up with a 4 million dollar cost to update an existing design likely costed them hundreds of thousands of dollars to do

I've been trying to solve the mystery of how a Glock "connector" replacement leads to a binary trigger or seemingly automatic fire. It's known that the cruciform sear will reset automatically between rounds but the "connector" will not until the trigger is released enough for the "bar" to engage it like a pawl and cog. My theory is that the "connector" angle can be adjusted to the point where the "bar" will be driven down along with the sear rather than forward and level.

How much of a meme are drop leg holsters? I picked up a cheap surplus Safariland holster for my M9A3 and X300 and it’s my first time ever fooling around with a drop leg and I’m not sold on it. I have a spare Safariland belt attachment that I can just stick on but I don’t want to write the thing off just because I’m not used to it. Drop legs make sense with plates but for just wanting a holster to carry my Beretta with a light while hiking around is a drop leg too tacticool?

My local pawn shop has an old Colt Police Positive (might be a special, but I can't remember) in 32-20 WFC. It's nickel plated and looks well used with a good bit of the plating worn off. They're asking 300 and it's been in there for like ever. If I were to guess at least over a year.
Is it worth it, or would you say it's a hard pass? Could it be a good otter gun for when they're building dams?

Presumably because they used machined castings instead of billet. Cast aluminum generally has porosity issues if the qc isn't on point checking for that shit. It's also dependent on what specific alloy is used.

Are Beretta M9A3s worth getting with M9A4s and LTTs being a thing? Do they do anything different other than not having a slide cut?
>>
>>65359312
Older. Italy made. Hasn’t been in production for a long time so if you’re on some fuck ass site selling you new M9A3s it’s a scam. Occasionally they pop up used.

Inferior to the 92X RDO, M9A4 internally since those have the upgraded short reset trigger. The LTT combat they sell is basically the same thing as the M9A3 but with a compensator already attached.

You can just put in the LTT TJIAB or just the LTT trigger bar and the match hammer or get the X-Treme S kit from Beretta if you can find it for 120 bucks.
