just like some people can't get close to a school...some people can't buy guns...
>>
Let's say you accidentally shot yourself in the leg on a draw at the range and there is arterial bleeding (it's spurting out hard).
At what point would you opt for wound packing with quick clot gauze vs using a tourniquet? (I.e. how proximal would the gunshot have to be to make packing your best option) Is it right at the crease between leg and hip? 2 inches below crease? Or what?
Obviously you can't tourniquet a trunk or pelvic wound but can you tourniquet a leg wound an inch above it?

>At what point would you opt for wound packing with quick clot gauze vs using a tourniquet?
if there isnt a tourniquet or you cant make a tourniquet work for whatever reason
id try tourniquet if it seems like its an option, if its high enough you dont think it works then you just start packing and/or putting pressure on it
you just have to make the best judgement call you can
if someone is bleeding from an artery there is a very good chance they are a goner if you do nothing, at least trying you are increasing their odds of survival
you will also make a call very quickly once the adrenaline kicks in, isnt the same but i sliced my hand open pretty good with a kitchen knife because i was retarded and drinking while carving up food, i remember that i barely felt the pain and didnt even think, it was like autopilot and and i was making decisions within a few seconds and got my hand wrapped up tight, drove myself to the ER, and had my phone staged ready to call 911 in case i felt like was gonna pass out or got too woozy to drive
i knew i wasnt going to die & the reality kicked in that hard, i imagine it would only even stronger if you knew it was life or death

Bro thinks it's still the 1980s, it takes literal hours for tourniquets to cause tissue necrosis. Unless you're backcountry backpacking with no way to call a helicopter you're not going to run into any issues.
>>
>>65359914
>>65359972
The range I go to is 45 minutes from a lvl1 trauma center so I'll probably just bleed out in the ambu I even if I tourniquet myself right away. Would a 911 operator tell my wife I love her and im sorry if I requested it while bleeding out in the phone or would she only hear my message if she got the call recording?

Dumb question.

What's everyone's take on modifying out-of-production guns? Not anything antique or military surplus or obscure niche guns or anything like that, but for example guns like: Gen 1-5 Glocks, CZ 75 variants that are discontinued, HK p2000, Sig P2022, Walther P99 and PPQ, just general purpose handguns that are common/were common in recent years but are discontinued.

I have a CZ P-01 Omega that I'm debating on getting milled for a red dot. I know the P-01 is still in production, just not the Omega variant anymore. Am I retarded for second guessing on a handgun that's isn't necessarily a collectors item?

>>65360240
>Mounting the optic directly on the 22 barrel
See >>65359595 they did it first, I have 6k rounds or something through that
The only thing that concerned me was wall thickness, I didn't want to weaken it let alone blow through into the bore. The barrel is already screwed to the locking block mount thing >>65359662 so I measured the depth of those holes at 0.143" and the total wall thickness at 0.172". So I aimed for 0.130" depth to give even more wall thickness than the factory threaded holes. It's probably safe but I'll find out soon enough
>>
>>65360261
Now that's unbelievable
>>
>>65360190
Because they engineered them to be like that.
Its not hammer fired so you dont have the water slowing the hammer causing light strikes.
>>
>>65359539
A Glock 26, 19, 17, and 43x pretty much can serve as a "one and only handgun" in my honest opinion.
Especially the 19
>>
>>65360261

>>

>>
>>65360308
I haven’t chopped a Glock frame, but I’ve cut up tons of Kydex holsters with dremels. I’d go that way.
>>
>>65360320
do you use a wheel or bit? i've used bits before on other projects and mangled it which is why i'm leaning towards doing it by hand
>>
>>65360325
I use the disk to cut, and then the drum to clean up the edges. If you’re scared about fucking it up, maybe you can practice on one of the spare backstrap inserts, or an RXM frame or magpul VFG or something. Also, you should know that realistically, it’s not gonna come out looking factory perfect. It will be functional, but perhaps a little ugly. That’s what you sign up for when you do these little bodge jobs.
>>
>>65360278
>Because they engineered them to be like that.
>the thing is the way it is because of the way it is
No shit, I'm asking what specifically they did that makes the barrel not explode from additional stress. How the firing pin works has got nothing to do with it.
>>
>>65360260
Personally I wouldn't make any permanent modifications, and would instead try to find something that can be removed as if it were never there, but that's just me and my purist autism.
>>
>>65360357
I feel like theres something your missing. Most guns will fire underwater, once.
As long as theres no airpocket somewhere and the ammo isnt something that expands when fired the barrel will be fine.
The issue is usually cycling the next round or not firing at all cause the primer wasnt hit with enough force.
>>
>>65360260
All those listed examples I would do without a second thought. Rarer guns only if I'm going to be carrying it and there's no modern close alternative. I would totally mill your p-01

at six feet deep the water pressure due to its weight/mass is less than 3psi, which is fairly trivial out the barrel for something capable of launching a 9mm piece of lead over 1100 fps
I would think the density of water compared to a gas would be more of a problem, not the pressure. Or the cavitation could damage the barrel maybe. If a torpedo can yeet itself out of a flooded tube I don't see why a bullet couldn't if it had enough oxygen to combust.

If you want .45 for carry then yeah, but their new line of micro 9 comes well regarded. The vp9cc may be the best micro striker 9 on the market. You could also get a vp9k or sk dependent on what you want. They'll eat any 9x19 you put through them

In 6,000 rounds on my TX22 Competition, one time I saw the optic dot flickering. I touched it and it was burning hot. I had just magdumped like 10 mags in a row with a silencer. That's the one and only time I've seen it happen, and the optic is fine. That gun has a mortise and tenon connection to its optic plate, my temu plate just touches on two thin lines, it's like 1/20th the contact patch, so I imagine it will be even less of a problem

Glock literally sold gun rights down the river and capitulated to california gun grabbers. They made big news about discontinuing the gen 5 in favor of gen V which you "can't mount a switch to" so people flocked to stores to buy the uncucked gen 5s, then when stores sold out of gen 5s glock released the gen 6. Depending on how charitable you would like to be to a billion dollar business it was either a scummy business move designed to manufacture a panic buying situation to sell their old stock before the new gen dropped OR a consession to California's and New Yorks attorney generals to avoid law suits around switches and possibly get the gen V on the california roster.

Literally just baking soda. If you are carrying a gun next to baking soda, universally known as a cutting agent for coke and a ingredient in crack, you will at best have a long conversation with a cop and at worst be arrested. Acid attacks almost exclusively happen within the arab community and within that community 8/10 of those acid attacks happen to young women. If you're a young arab woman posting here from Dearborn Michigan welcome habibi. If you're a white man stop being a fucking retard and plan for things that may actually happen by carrying stuff like narcan or a tourniquet.

This randomly popped up on the side of my youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwF0gmLhHPg
Apparently his Glock 23 went off as he was drawing from the holster without his finger on the trigger. Obviously there's many examples of this when holstering itself but I don't think I've seen one drawing from the holster.
Is there actually a way this can happen or is this guy just an idiot in denial?

I realized the other day that I've been reccomending the Insane Kydex Creations holster to folks on here as they make holsters for all sorts of obscure and uncommon gun/light combos, but never really side by sided one with the same gun. I just got a QVO holster for my 509c so that I can see if IKC is a good holster option for most people or just the only good option for some people. So far the QVO seems to hug my leg tighter than the IKC, which makes it more comfortable when I sit and maybe more concealed but also a bit less comfortable when I'm walking around. I'll run around with my friends new puppy tomorrow and see how that feels with both.

>>65362430
Hope you have a good range trip. How was mounting an optic to the 509c? Were plates available, and how many options were there? The $430 optics ready 509c on Locked and Loaded has me considering grabbing a second and tossing a dot and apex trigger in it. I got two holsters now after all, would be a shame to waste one.

Yeah man, 2011s work some kind of magic where they make you a better shooter just by using them. It's really cool to see guys try one for the first time and get the hype. One of these days ill downsize my collection and get a 2k11 or something
>>
>>65362504
It came with a bunch of plates but all plastic I think? And none for the 507k. I got the apex tactical plate. I never did the trigger because I heard that if you change the trigger without using the apex jig there's a chance you break the frame (poor design etc), so I just got the apex striker, polished the striker channel and polished the block

Assuming you can fix the misaligned sights and check for other QC issues it's the best in just about every important factor, not even close.
Only thing others can do is get slightly smaller so if size is the -absolute- most important thing than you can consider others.

NTA but I have both. Honestly compared to the TLR1-1 HL, it's fine, but there's a couple of differences. The strobe function can't be locked out like the Streamlight. The strobe function also retains its "memory" about half a second or so longer than the TLR-1 HL, so if you're concerned about quickly switching between strobe and constant, this may be of concern if something like that bugs you.

Keep in mind that the side mounting screw sticks out more than the one on the Streamlight. I'm not sure if it's just mine, but the side plate wiggles slightly while attached, even when screwed down tight, though I don't think it's going to fly off or fall apart or anything. The body is also just slightly wider by a few mm, but enough to not allow it to fit in a lot of holsters. It doesn't fit in my PDP TLR-1 holster from Werkz. I don't know about universal holsters like a Floodlight as I don't have one to test.

For it being on sale for like 40 bucks right now, it's fine. Just keep those small things in mind. For a bedside gun or a plinking range gun, it's fine and it'll do the job.
>>
>>65362581

Ah beans, I have enjoyed my 507k since it works well with my eyes. I have a pretty glaring astigmatism to the point that without my glasses in the dot in donut reticle becomes one giant dot because it bleeds together, and the 507k's small reticle works better for my eyes than other red dots for some reason.

How did you polish the striker channel?

The new magpul LCP is getting some hype from the usual youtube shill crowd, but the literal who youtubers (who aren't getting brand deals or free shit) i've seen review them side by side said they still prefer the bodyguard 2.0. I shoot mine about as well as I shoot most compact sized pistols, and it's laughably small in comparison. Pic rel, here was my monthly /hg/ challenge entry with it. Got a bit left with the smallest tombstone group and button but I did also put two shots in the same hole on the first group. Putting up groups like that at 7 yards with a gun this small blows my mind

I used a Dremel with essentially a one-sided q tip locked into the chuck and dipped it in mothers mag and aluminum polish and just ran it through the channel till the fde coating was gone and it was nice and shiny. It took at least a dozen q tips. If you could find a Dremel buffing wheel with a long enough shaft that would be better.
That combined with the apex striker nickle Teflon coating really reduces friction during the pull. The apex striker is also just way more skookum

I pocket carried an OG LCP for a long time, and have plenty of other handguns for more permissive clothes/environments. But I haven't found anything better for pocket carry out now than the BG2.0. I got the Carry Comp version which is a tiny bit longer. The trigger is good. The capacity is good. The sights are good. The grip is amazing for how small it is. Low bore axis and the comp make follow-up shots sink right in where you want them. I don't know anyone that's regretting buying one. Just make sure you buy carry ammo that will feed reliably.

I carry appendix but I will never understand the people who feel the need to train drawing and reholstering at a blistering speed with live rounds (like this retard was.) Especially reholstering like when EVER will you need to reholster quickly. You can practice drawing with a dry gun and accomplish the same thing.
If you must reholster just take it really slow bend your knees/hips and you can make it so you can ND almost purposefully and who gives a fuck the muzzle is pointed forward.

Me personally my pistol and holster are a single unit. There is no reason to put your holster on and then holster your pistol. They can just come on and off together. You absolutely can do it the other way perfectly safely but I just like to keep as little variables at play as need be. The only time I will have to actually put my pistol back in a holster attached to my waist is in the super unlikely case I've just been involved in a DGU.
>>
>>65362780
>what biological function
It's a function of your diet. Most people lose weight on GLPs because it overrides your body's hunger signal making it WAY easier to eat less than your maintenance calories every day. Sometimes by a tremendous calorie deficit that's almost subconscious. If you don't seriously focus on getting enough protein, you lose a lot of weight from your muscle mass. If you have the same poor food selection habits that got you fat, there's a good chance just eating LESS will give you vitamin and mineral deficiency problems. Being a healthy bodyweight generally outweighs (pun intended) the health effects of minor malnutrition over a short period but you really need to prioritize eating right as a lifestyle change to keep it off and stay healthy.
>>
>>65362805
Unfortunately the general consensus in the online gun world (here, rebbit, insta, youtube, wherever) is that if you worry about an AD while carrying or holstering you're inexperienced and stupid. You should be carrying a Glock with no manual safety pointed at your balls and if that makes you nervous you need to train more. I got roasted asking for a carry gun with a manual safety here months ago and that happens everywhere.

The proponents of this shared delusion will give you a million reasons why it's better, faster draw, easier manual of arms, less reliance on small motor function. But what it comes down to is they've lost respect for the firearm and the damage it can do. And then they start doing the dumb shit you're talking about and it's one bad day until they lose a ball or two.
>>
Realistically if you're nding on draw, your putting your finger on the trigger too soon
What's the rule? Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot
It's not put you're finger on the trigger as fast as possible so you can shoot the instant you cognitively recognize a dot on the target
Or you have a modified trigger and a shit gun, but why would you carry such a gun?
Am I wrong?
>>
>>65362818
It's the post-2019 gun owners. They flooded in, they were addicted to social media before they ever touched a firearm, and their worship of what's trending is obvious. Either that or it's all industry actors creating the trends in an astroturfing scheme.

The military specifies delays so that tracer and incendiary ammunition does not function until after the projectile has already left the muzzle. There is no such provision with novelty cartridges at retail which ignite inside the bore. Use them with an automatic fire or reset module and the risk for chain fire compounds (videoed).
