ive met a few who are so adamant about only purchasing in-person. Stubborn, they go out of their way to only buy things if they can hold it in their hand and see it with their own eyes. There's people like that today I suppose. Its like my other buddy, who I had to convince Japan exists outside photos. Eventually we all ended up flying over for a vacation and only then was he convinced. Are they really that surface-level experience? Like, yes dude, you can buy and enjoy AR15 as an American citizen. They are not illegal.

My only red dots are two Aimpoint PROs and a Comp M4, and I’ve got an EOTech XPS2. I’ve had them all for the last 12-15 years and have never bothered upgrading to a smaller dot. Am I an idiot for sticking with the old red dot/holo tech I already have and not getting with the times? Are these optics obsolete in the days of modern reliable chinkshit cheap micro dots?

Hypothesis:
For gas operated action, as you open port to increase total energy allowed through port the force vs time curve gets spikier and sharper. While total integrated area is enough to operate action reliably, recoil impulse gets correspondingly spiky and peaked. On the other hand, longer dwell time or longer "effective dwell time" due to a high back pressure suppressor allows for smaller port to let same total energy through, but that is over a longer period of time so force vs time curve is more mellow and gradual. Result is comparatively smoother recoil, less punch and spike. Less shit like charging handle unlatching (big think... issue was previously solved with omega... but then I opened port to increase total energy because effective dwell time of faguar way less than Omega... and LO still not even getting reliable lock back, but spiky impulse overcomes max force spring and latch can handle) The irony (and cool thing actually) is that what we have is a situation where high BP can is actually smoother recoil and operation cycle than low BP can. The distinction between total energy in an operation cycle being distributed over a longer period of time vs shorter
Changing the peak impulse values

Thoughts? I can return Faguar turns out to Silencershop for store credit.

Also does anyone know of a basic bitch 17-4 SS HT 30cal suppressor, hub compatible, K length (sub 5.5" OAL no mount) large diameter (1.6"+) that is aggressively quiet (high back pressure) and say sub $600?

I'm aware of:
Rex Silentium MG7k
Liberty Anthem K2

I'm sure there are more.

>Tasteful rifle
Certainly better than most.
But give him -1 point for running a lens cap on his fucking flashlight, and another -1 for not running lens caps on his optic.

Lens caps on optics at least have some degree of practical utility in regular civilian application.
The only civilians running lens caps on flashlights are the try-hard faggots that fall for the memes and buy bullshit shilled by guntube beard oil salesmen.

You either commit to the LARP delusions and run GRAVY-SEAL levels of bullshit accessories until your rifle weighs 25lbs, or just take the sensible path and simply don't put completely unnecessary bullshit like flashlight lens caps on your rifle. Fence-sitting and half-arsing just makes the end product worse than either extreme.

As the one responsible for bringing light caps back, they are somewhere between "perfectly fine" and "essential equipment".

Just the other day I was doing some UAS shit and caught a fellow observing with his m300 that was functioning as a signal mirror.
>Lens cap on a dot
Ehhhh not really?
Even if he trips and gets OREO® McFlurry® all over his lens you can simply occluded optic shoot like an original aimpoint in the seconds it takes you to lick off the delicious vanilla reduced fat ice cream.

1. The post from 2008 is not about carbon
2. I never claimed it started on the earliest dated post I shared, in fact the opposite
3. I said I knew you wouldn't acknowledge my posts, which I'm correct—you didn't even read them or at least not thoroughly.
4. The thesis was that you are just a single link in a seamless chain tracing back quite far as you yourself pointed out, just another blip.

But yeah, you can have credit for inventing specifically using a T2 cap with a piece of tape to solve your specific pou problem which means it's a totally new concept.

>Turkish doner steam engineshit

The aeolipile, the Architonnerre, the pressure cooker, and water powered steam engines all lead naturally to the vacuum, the piston and cylinder, and all THAT to the commercialization of the steam engine.

So I guess in this analogy you are the Jew who tried to monetize a popular field expedient solution to several problems, and solving more as time goes on.

None of the posts from yesteryear have anything to do with reflection. They are all carbon or ND related. None of the modern products on the market do anything for carbon or for ND. They were never popular because it wasnt an issue people were concerned with. People are concerned with reflection, hence the light caps being popular now. This popularity is a direct result of a2posts. You don't understand this and are upset accordingly.

Do you need a diagram to understand the difference?

It was so popular that you can produce a single photo of it vs thousands upon thousands of them sold in the time span since that a2post. I mean surely the "civilian nvg" was increasing during that period but why did it pop back up around the time of several posts and videos?
> It was never gone.
One forum post every 5 years is truly the same as thousands of caps.

Wouldnt be a BB chimpout without a constant stream of straw grasping.
>>
Some more cool specific examples I guess:
>During the Vietnam War, "tunnel rat kits" and early military flashlights (like the angle-head TL-122) were often carried. Soldiers frequently used red, blue, or IR filter caps over the lens to preserve night vision. To stop accidental glare or light leaks, they would wrap the flashlight bezel with 100-mph tape or electrical tape, often poking a tiny pinhole through it so only a sliver of light could escape.
>While not weapon-specific, the military concept of using physical caps to control light emission dates back to World War II. Convoys used slotted, opaque blackout covers on vehicle headlights to navigate stealthily, proving the tactical need for physical barriers over light sources.
>ARDs as a concept establishing military doctrine of physical accessories to prevent reflection
>Section on Camouflage (Shine): "Shine is the reflection of light from an object. It can be caused by smooth, polished surfaces such as a watch crystal, glass, shiny metal, or plastic. Anything that reflects light must be covered or removed. Blending with the background is impossible if any part of the soldier or his equipment reflects light."
>Because early tactical weapon lights (like the widely issued SureFire M951 or early Scout series) featured bright aluminum bezels and completely unmasked glass faces, they directly violated this mandate if left exposed during daytime operations.

natural progression, man

>produce a single photo vs one trillion shitposts bro
it's not one forum post either but several different forums I posted. Again I cannot help if things weren't archived.

Light covers on firearms
You assert they were so popular that there is nobody ITT could possibly be responsible for their revival. These assertions lie mainly in less than a half dozen forum posts with a single photo. If it truly was something people were doing, let alone at scale we would have the evidence. More posts, more photos and shit even more products. But none of that exists, surefire doesnt even make a solid cap, they only produced colored filters to function as filters at the time. I know this because I was literally painting over surefire blue covers for the initial attempts and having an issue finding one that would fit a 600df vs older 600 heads the filters were designed for.

nah. China actually has some basic shit made now. I dont see why people just dont use scope lense flip ups or some basic plastic covers. The concern was reflection shining back at IR or similar lights when your enemy is pointing at you. I have an arisaka inline scour pro mount for the 11.5 but in order to get it flush with the front of the rail, it has to go on over the gas block. Would it be better to place it 1 slot back to keep it over the rail or shouild I put it 1 slot forward as a cantilever over the suppressor? It is the triangle design so it shouldn't bend easily

Thats impressive, should have done a corset cover if you were shooting that fast
>>65359850
Sounds like 5.56 but a little backpressure bump. Might want to o-ring the top cover at a minimum and maybe a KNS piston. Real issue is the balance of the AK, they dont really do well if they are anything but the super short variants.

Honestly I wasn't even dumping that hard - I was shooting groups for about an hour, no problems, but the barrel was hot... Then I finished off the last half of my last mag shooting like 1 shot every 1-2 seconds and saw it smoking after like 5, but the time I dumped about 5 more it was really smoking - fucking stunk. Set it down, then noticed it was fucked up when I went to pack up.

I just took the biggest shit of my fucking life, unironically lost 5 lbs just like that, wtf.

I tried to get the Action Bronson New Balances but they sold out in like 2 seconds. Had em in my cart, but i paused like 2 second to make sure my shipping address was correct, by the time I hit purchase, I got the Out of Stock error modal. FUCK

So i'm doing this little gig in a range and i'm inspecting some guns. I'm not an AR afficionado, what would cause keyholing on one ? Flash hider too dirty and / or loose, barrel rifling shot up ? I only see those two.

those russian ARs that use the AK mags and the G rails look really cool. If I had more brain damage id build one
>>
A houthi just flew over my house!
>>
>>65362298
Dogshit ammo or barrel shot out. Loose muzzle would probably only cause inaccuracy. Another major thing to check might be barrel nut installation and go/nogo gauge.
>>
>>65362302
Is that a chrono attachment on the muzzle? Never seen anything like that
>>
>>65362320
Ammo is decent and doesn't cause issues with virtually any other rifle in this range. The weapon concerned is a fuckass M&P.
>>
>>65362285
Wow I thought it was cool at first but nvm

I just got an upper in the mail where the box was abused like crazy. The thread protector got dinged up, is there any risk the barrel got bent or any other damage I should be aware of? Like I can visually see it's not fucked but should I have any concerns with it not shooting straight?
>>
>>65362435
Not really no, but if you are really anal you could contact who you bought it from with pictures and ask if they’d accept a return/reship for a different one. Worst case the threads got scuffed and would be obvious by looking at them.
>>
>>65362435
If you don't see anything out of shape with a visual inspection, it should be perfectly safe to shoot. Put a zero on it and start finding out.

>>65362520
They're such great guns. Guy at the range this week had an A300 and it was pretty sick, too, I couldn't really tell a difference shooting it. How do you like that farrowtech mount? Nice that you can keep your stock rear iron with it.
>>
>>65362498
>>65362520
Wait, I still haven't. Just realized the rifle is the same tint.
>>
>>65362532
Only put a handful of shells through an A300, but it definitely seemed most of the way there to the 1301 as far as function and feel go.

Farrowtech mount has held up well. Had a T1 on there for a while until I repurposed it.
>>
>>65362534
Nah it's the factory ODG one, rifle is just painted a similar color
>>
>>65362543
Wouldn't it be more efficient to store the extra shells upside down? Pull down, push forward into the tub
>>
>>65362584
More efficient...maybe? Those elastic shell holders only have so much tension though and you're likely to lose some shells to bump-assisted gravity, especially when they get into the last half of their service life.
