Nothing's stopping you from posting about whatever gear you want to post about.

>99% convinced that this guy is either an RMA or Highcoom shill, tbdesu. What works over on Reddit doesn't work here, faggot.
Agreed. That RMA paid guy (you know who I'm talking about) who used to post here is, frankly, a parasite and bitches / moans when he doesn't get access to a forum for discussing armor. This is exactly on brand for him.
Alternatively, it could be Yushi trying to rebuild his rep and he knows he's burnt reddit by not delivering and making shit up.
>>
Remember when we used to get cool write ups and bios and the various guys that would post here along with their gear setup and the reasons they made the choices they did? I member. Now all we get are infographics and AI generated skirt pics. Sad
>>
>>65373182
>doesn't refute anything and just makes shit up
I miss bunkbedguy too man but I accept your concession.
Alright, let's talk about something other than armor. The same dude on ebay has been selling dozens of LA-12 GLIS 200mW laser dazzlers for actually reasonable prices, for over a year now. He just got more in.

Shit, way to shred credibility.

My argument is you're a gaywad and that I think it's cute that you get so butt fucking offended by anyone mentioning they don't like armortism. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I miss Gargantuanon and /k/oko. They'd make you eat dirt and drink toilet water.

>I miss Gargantuanon and /k/oko
You've formed parasocial relationships with anons long gone. That's sad man. Move on.
>>
>>65373202
Also, I never implied the Protechs were chinesum. You just shill chinesum here now because lmao. The fact that I distinguished the price of the Protechs should've been clue enough. The fact that you're trying so hard to "discredit" me just makes you come off as more of a homo. Not a great look. But go ahead and spend the day defending your honor.
>>
>>65373209
Me personally? Three times and every time it's been framed as a last ditch option, which it is. They suck but they're cheap.
There's some other guy shilling them in other threads but it seems to just be a shitpost.
>>
Maybe we dont need a zombie armor thread thats just one guy posting.
>>
>>65373210
>parasocial
I don't think you know what that word means anon. Do you think conversing with me now is a parasocial relationship? I used to talk to those dudes all the time, even was in the /gq/ discord a for a little bit before I deleted my old account.
>>
>>65373212
>while shilling for $35 chineseum that I wouldn't recommend to Tyrone let alone /gq/. How many times have you posted about the $75 Protecs?
The above is you. Yes, your argument about the "Protecs" given plates are a pair directly implies they're Chinese. I see that one hit you in the shin.

How about we actually discuss some shit? I just got an NP550 in the other day. feels great. Sizing is a bit odd if you want over-ear earpro, pads are okay, but the protection is... nice. Also the 3.8lb weight doesn't feel that bad.

This thread is off to a wonderful start.

Alright, time to repost some new used shit.

New shit from Hudsongunner:
Sets of LTC 23600 Level III all-PE plates, 3.3lb a plate or so, $150/set. 10x12.
https://tacswap.com/post/6a0cbc89cb28e70aaf794321
Highcom 4S17s in nominal 10x12 (more like a 9x11) and 8x10 (teeny!), $160/set. Single curve.
https://tacswap.com/post/68253d60ad08104afb221e29
Point Blank IC34s, old-school III/IV dual-rated plates that need good IIIA (basic won't do) to meet either requirement. No drop! $150/set.
https://tacswap.com/post/68e71ab4ffc5f7cdd369781f

Protech 2014G standalone bare minimum IVs remain $199/set. 2120-5s are now $216/set, standalone III or 6x M855A1 at 5.8lb each 10x12.
>>
>>65373275
>he's still being baited
no hope lmao
>>
And here is the Adept Emperor's test report from two days ago for anyone curious. It's standalone IV, 4.6lb for a supposedly legit 10x12, and stops M2AP with sub-30mm BFD. Going rate is probably $3k-3.5k a pair. It's been out a few years as part of Adept's secret LE / military lineup but SHOULD be available this coming month! Also your daily reminder that all armor companies have secret LE / mil products except maybe RMA. I think Gilliam actually has a secret plate or two, even, and that's a dude in his garage.

Each Protech XCAL LP is a promise. It is two hours at a dead end warehouse job. It is a promise that your life is life and certain death becomes less certain. To delay the inevitable is the most efficient use of your time in this fleeting mortal coil.
To purchase a Protech XCAL LP is to potentially get pussy, because a dead man in this violent world gets no pussy. Each Protech XCAL LP gives you the opportunity to spread your seed. A Protech XCAL LP delays the inevitable and prolongs the opportunity to smack that ass, to use your bone as the weapon.

Think of your future unborn children. Think of the promise of days saved by the most affordable plates in the world. Think of the women you have yet to meet. Think of the pussy. Think of the Protech X-CAL LP.

Buy some plates asshole two plates is less than the new COD.

LTC states themselves on the spec sheets the 23707 is 9.6x11.75, but the 8x10 is curiously 8x10. The nominal sizing weight reduction games are played by everybody, even Ceradyne, unless contracts demand precise sizing.
Even then, the 23707 is 4.2lb. Much heavier than Hesco counterparts.
>is hesco also not a bullshitter company who’s plates frequently are undersized or overweight?
3811 and 3814 have nominal sizing issues. Hesco is however usually honest that the 10x12 is in fact 10x12. See people complaining on reddit those don't fit in SAPI M platebags because they're too wide.
>overweight
No not really. The weights are honest unlike RMA and TacScorp for examples.
>nobody’s completely honest in this industry.
That's for sure, but Hesco at least tries with their civilian lineup and doesn't half ass it like LTC.

>>
>>65373558
Even Tencate isn't clean mayne. They were Shotstop's supplier for actually NIJ cert plates and knew about their games, plus they never disclosed those 20 hit Level IV LIBA plates had gaps between pellets big enough M855 could sneak through.

If the bad guys have rifles, and they do, plates are the last line of defense. They also enable no-selling most pistol threats which soft armor generally won't do.

side soft armor or side hard plates?

CONUS, on a tac team, trying to build a proof of concept to replace our current set up of shitty mystery meat 10x12s and concealable iiia panels in a sucky carrier.

FBI data suggests far more piggies are shot anterior than posterior. using local data from the past 30 years, a limited sample size, it’s 100% anterior. explosives being such a rare threat conus, Im starting to reach the conclusion pushing more rifle protection forward facing is the correct choice over full soft armor coverage.

I know we could get a balcs carrier or a proprietary cut and get a lot of soft armor coverage, but I see more and more teams moving to plate carriers with some soft side panels.

if that’s acceptable, would it not make more sense to give up my 4-5 o clock, 7-8 o clock soft armor for hard plate rifle protection on my obliques?

>>65373560
what do you think of the hesco l110 side plates?
>>
>>65373703
>>65373717
Bless will look into. Might let me keep some of my casino money.
>>65373784
I think it boils down to practicality for me. Performance is undoubted. What is likelihood of occurrence where you know that you may get shot at and in these scenarios will you even have time to don the armor? A proactive vs reactive thing where most scenarios I can think of are reactive. Also, if you have early enough warning of a scenario that you may need the armor, do you have early enough warning to avoid the scenario entirely? I’m not sure of the answer and even if it can be applied universally.
>>
>>65374011

My main use for them outside of LARPing is when the local idiots start shooting into the air on holidays like the 4th and New Years. There's a slim but nonzero chance one of their shitty durr JSPs or something will come through my window, so I slap on my PASGT helmet and plate carrier until they drunkenly pass out early in the morning. It's a yearly ritual for me.

>side soft armor or side hard plates?
Side soft armor is going to have higher coverage unless you use specialty flexible rifle armor like DragonSkin, Verco, Hexar, FRAS (blegh), etc. On the other hand, soft armor is USELESS versus rifle threats so if you're primarily facing rifles, then plates it is and must be.
> Im starting to reach the conclusion pushing more rifle protection forward facing is the correct choice over full soft armor coverage.
That is the trend, especially when dealing with active shooter situations.
>would it not make more sense to give up my 4-5 o clock, 7-8 o clock soft armor for hard plate rifle protection on my obliques?
If you're facing the enemy, yes. If there are concerns about them getting the drop on you or you getting flanked, which shouldn't be the case since you're on a team, then consider wider coverage. You can get larger side plates. Largest I've seen other than running XS SAPI-family in certain carriers is 8x8 but 6x8 is the most common "large" size.
>what do you think of the hesco l110 side plates?
Not bad but Hesco is very wishy-washy on whether the L110 counterparts the L210 or the L211 and old stock is thus going to reflect the L210, which is not M855A1 rated and will get blown through by .308 threats outright. The 3110s counterpart the more robust III+ 3411 and are a safer bet, but are thicker and heavier.

Are you otherwise confident an SRT is the right call, especially given future hypervelocity ammo concerns a few years down the road, or are you thinking you'll just reassess and re-eval then?
>>65374011
I highly approve of that anon's list. Those 9900Xs perform wonderfully with Buff and for $500 a set cannot be beat. That's less than Militech RF3 Blacks. They are lighter and unlike the Militechs no concerns of cheat ringing.
Granted, they get their ass KICKED by M993 because of boron carbide amorphization failure, but if you need to stop tungsten 7.62 then get different plates. Gillie 8002s are very attractive.
>>
>>65374106
ive actually done a local threat profile based on what we’ve seized over the past few years.

of the ~1200 guns, it’s 12% rifle calibers, with 5.56/.223 being the most prevalent rifle caliber. most of those guns are 16” or 7.5” barrels. even if m855a1 starts showing up in pawnshops at that point, I suspect the performance out of the ghetto blaster arp to be suboptimal.

I dont see m855a1 showing up at “sporting good store” or pawn shop in the next five years, and 10 years from now I can buy new plates
>>
>>65373429
>requires a $400 set of IIIA backers to meet III spec
someone explain how this is /pfg/
>>
>>65374135
ARPs aren't good armor busters unless run against PE plates, so those aren't a cause for concern. My issue with SRTs is that they're easy to brute force by virtue of having a weak backer (this is why they're so thin) and they don't match good ceramic III+ on multi-hit. Future "M855+" will be a problem because higher-velocity 5.56 is the rage now and will only get more common from here. Also it just helps to have the headroom. Baltimore SWAT is rolling VelSys PBZSAs good for M80, M855A1, and BZ API for example. Better to have and not need than need and not have in case a new threat emerges and you're first up to bat.
>and 10 years from now I can buy new plates
And they'll be much better performers. Word on the block is Integris (Tencate) has some very attractive new RF2 models in the wings.

If you match v50s and such you don't have to use Safariland's specific packages. You just have to be damn sure the substitute soft armor meets or exceeds. Compare v50s, special threat testing, and BFD numbers.
>>
>>65374162
>Compare v50s
Has anyone figured out what soft armor they were supposed to be paired with in the first place?
>>
>>65374169
Yeah it's right on the gunbroker listing, spec sheet is second picture. Note that, per the picture, the plate needs a certain variety of panels to stop anything and then a more limited list allows it to stop 7.62x54R LPS.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1193055838
Also I have no clue why Safariland had the NIJ Mark on the spec sheet, this isn't 0101.06 compliant for shit.
>>
Also daily reminder that DocGKR, the terminal ballistics wizard and OG armor dude of Lightfighter, P&S, and other old hangouts, thinks Level IV is dumb and you should either go below (M855A1 + M80A1 if near a military base) or go above and focus on actually modern AP threats.
Gilliam's (chinese) 8002 plate is still $314 a pop, 8.3lb, 1.2", and stops rounds as high as .300 Winmag Swiss P AP, significantly exceeding even XSAPI rating.
https://www.gilliamarms.com/products/model-8002-max-heavy-tungsten-rf3-silicon-carbide-ceramic-armor-plate?
I can't think of any time M993 has shown up in a shooting incident but Doc has access to statistics most people don't so maybe he knows something.

I want to be clear I’m not married to the l110. I recognize I want side armor, I can’t decide what that side armor looks like.

since pistols are 88% of my threats, soft armor does 88% of the job, but rifle hits are so much deadlier that is 88% an acceptable cost? I don’t think so, but a level iv side plate is 3 pounds or more vs a half pound soft armor panel. some of my buddies have the ferro 3ac, and it hugs and supports them like a pseudo-harness. I worry plates will just make my carrier even more front heavy and jab my sides
>>
>>65374204
So based on your statistics you have a 12% chance of dealing with rifle threats. Soft armor is useless versus rifle threats so you're frankly cooked if facing M855 on a bad day at a bad angle.
I gotta be honest, I'm feeling a BALCS setup would be best. You're majority pistol in terms of threat profile, absolutely, but it makes sense to have the ability to add hard armor as needed. You're more flexible if you can do both than being married to hard armor alone. This also enables the use of thinner ICW plates.
You don't need full Level IV unless the more potent rogues' gallery shows up. M61, M80A1, B-32 API, M2AP. They aren't common, really, for now. The bare minimum however is M855 + M193 + M80 for most purposes and SRTs don't do M80 well generally.

Police oriented companies like Safariland and PB won't always post test reports, especially for hard armor. They're listed on the NIJ CPL.
Older model, alumina-aramid multi-curve. Standalone 1", 7.5lb for a 10x12. They are inferior to the Protech 2230, but better than the Hesco 4403 in headroom. They've got a v50 of 3,194ft/s versus M2AP, which is significantly better than the 4403's, which is... basically a cunt hair higher than NIJ required "must stop" of 2,910ft/s.
For comparison the 2230 is 7.5lb 10x12, 1.2" thick, IV AND III rating, and the v50 is a secret number but they got zero penetrations even with M2AP above 3,510ft/s so it's gonna be super high.

Gotta be honest, the Hesco 4403 is facing a tough crowd.

Let the autists seethe, let the twenty thousand plates that do the same fucking thing but oh this one is HECKIN ARAMID be forgotten. Good place to get high coverage soft armor. Their nylon gear isn't really anything special, although that Frankenstein carrier looks interesting.
>>
>>65375359
I'm mostly interested in their AVS 2, primarily because I heard it's the same quality as Crye but it's half the cost for the plate bags and harness system.
I would be getting those, and then real everything else: Crye 2 band cummerbund, Spiritus SPUDs, Shaw placard+admin pouch, Shaw Magnum panel. Stuff some 9900xs (Or ESAPIs if the boomers on Armslist ever respond) and ESBi's in it.
>>
>>65375372
Like I told you last time, faggot, anything made in 'Ukraine' is imported chink airsoft gear. Do you unironically think that quality nylon companies have somehow materialized there since 2022? Or is it more likely that it's fucking dropshippers flipping aliexpress garbage and profiting off rubes like yourself who think it's le combat tested
>>
>>65375399

>Do you unironically think that quality nylon companies have somehow materialized there since 2022?

>who think it's le combat tested
Literally who the fuck said that?
>>
>>65375372
>AVS mod 2
Don't see anything special about it compared to other knock off AVS carriers. Sunsnow and shekkin gears make good knock offs for cheaper. Like that other guy said, most "Ukrainian made" nylon gear is just Chinese anyways. But at least their soft armor is made with good uhmwpe.
>Crye 2 band cummerbund
No tubes?
>Spiritus SPUDs, Shaw placard+admin pouch
Why buy a knockoff plate carrier, but buy Spud pouches that cost 70$ per? If you're gonna chinamaxx go all in.
>>
>>65375339
Look man, it's a Ukrainian company drop shipping Chinese products. Meaning, whatever they're selling them for is marked up from what the Ukrainian company bought them for. At the end of the day, a Ukrainian company is skimming money, selling Chinese gear. I doubt many, if any, people here have any actual experience with them, because they're a cheap Chinese plate carrier. If you're worried you're getting ripped off, you are. Because that's how drop shipping works. If you want to buy a reliable plate carrier, Chinese drop shipping probably isn't your best bet. If you're looking to get a good deal, then yeah, I'm sure it's fine. You're buying a $280 plate carrier, that's been marked up. Just understand that you're buying a $200 plate carrier, and you're going to get a $200 plate carrier.
>>
>>65375406
>Do you have proof
lmao seething already, fucking holol simp faggot. Go to their own site and click 'location' it literally shows a fucking shed in the middle of nowhere which is far too small to be a factory of any kind.
>They're have quality nylon companies for a while now
Literally every single gear video made by anyone in Ukraine features them talking about how all gear is chinese airsoft clone shit and anything legit is price gouged to the max.
>Literally who the fuck said that?
You implied it. The only reason you want to buy gear from 'ukraine' is for some deluded reason you think you're getting quality gear made by people at the bleeding edge of individual gear development. You think that because two nations of 60IQ alcoholic retards are killing each other by the million with drones and artillery that somehow that translates into the innovation of superb tactical nylon gear for you to buy and larp with in the safety of you gay little flyover state
