Ben's take on Staccato. So if they are mid, what is a 2011 that is good? Or is that reserved for the 4000 dollar range?

FN is liquidating it’s 509 stock and many places are selling optic cut full featured models for sub $350.

Imagine buying an rxm or crusty PD trade in glock with no optics cut for $400. Or worse that guy with a bersa tpr9. Shit buying a $600 gen 6 glock is highway robbery

>>65414165
The best 2011 for the money is sig p211 no contest
>>
>>65414165
Staccatos don’t have the best triggers or fit. Their decision to make the standard size 4.4 is polarizing, Ben prefers the 5 inch standard size that the 2K11 and other 2011s use for their full size model. The 2K11 is at a better price point and has an external extractor. You’re paying for the brand with the staccato. One of the things that I think soured Ben’s opinion is one of his gun’s had a bad slide stop, they replaced it, but mentioned that they had a batch of bad slide stops: they knew they had bad parts but waited for customers to complain. It could be that not all of the batch were bad and only a few were out of spec, but waiting for customers to complain is a bad look for a duty pistol. I don’t remember how Glock handled their bad RSAs but I also remember it wasn’t perfect.

Ben Stoeger is also very cynical since he’s been shooting for a long time and probably has a million rounds through handguns alone.

I think the staccato is the standard that all other 2011s should be compared against still though. Obviously because they’re the most prominent and also they hold the trademark for the term “2011”.

My first ever gun was a Hk 45c and with awful newb shooting form I was still scoring hits at 10 yards. It’s probably the smoothest compact .45 ever and can hold ten rounds while being small.

MPAs hardly qualify as a “budget” option. They may not cost as much as an Atlas, but they cost more than every Staccato except the XC. Personally, I don’t even care if they shoot well strictly because their 2011s are the ugliest fucking handguns I’ve ever seen. I know that shouldn’t matter, but it does. Buy the CO2 version, the one that can shoot airsoft or .177 pellets, it doesn’t matter. Buy 4.5mm styrofoam beads to act as wads. Plug the rear, pour in table salt about 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch fill, then push in the other all the way to the salt to cap the load.

You now have an easily reloadable salt gun that obliterates house flies and other flying pests. You can use rock salt and or a heavier load if you’re shooting wasps, the table salt fucks up their wings but you need multiple shots to kill them otherwise.
>>
>>65414407
I'm genuinely shocked they haven't made an updated version by now. Call it the PX4X or something stupid. A grippier grip texture and a native optics cut along with a trigger kit based off the Langdon version would be ideal. Doubly so if they make it so you can swap the slides from fullsize to compact and the frame won't be gapped up

A range I hit in Atlanta often makes you use their range ammo for any rentals so that you don't sneak in any reloads, but their range 9mm is shoddy ass whoeverscheapest reloads. Had 3 not go off in a box one time. Surely if reloads blowing up guns was as big of a worry as folks say they'd use WWB or something.

Speaking of range rentals, tried the 2k11 target side by side with the DS Warrior and Staccato P. The DS Warrior is noticably budget and probably the worst 2011 I've shot. Not a bad gun, but the trigger and muzzle flip are both bad for a 2011. The staccato felt like it had a better trigger but the 2k11 shot better groups in both my hands and the /handguy/ I shot it with. The kimber also handled recoil better, absolute joy to shoot.
>>
>>65414654
It’s not talked about because it’s not truly revolutionary and customizable like a p320 and doesn’t have the normie appeal and staying power of glock.

The 9mm one is aluminum. Not sure why they did that. Bumble shartsman said it noticeably flipped more than steel frames while not being that much cheaper.

Your opinions of the 2k11 match alot of other people, the 5 inch 2k11 is better shooting than the ~4.5 inch Staccato P.

I like mine and so does everyone I have try and shoot it. LAPD put 20,000 rounds each through 2 randomly picked 509 pistols and they both made it 20k rounds without parts breakage or stoppage.

Everyones got different taste in guns of course but if you prefer a more aggressive grip texture you should try picking up a 509 next time you're at the gun store. For $350ish they're a steal.

Shit that would explain the drastic difference in recoil. Thanks for the info. The DS Warrior really wasn't a bad gun it just was bad in comparison, if someone wants a budget 2011 the prodigy is still the way to go. Springfields have their lemons but when the DS Warrior is at it's best it's still worse than a Prodigy.

I know that genuine USPSA targets are not easily accessible to most people, but there are guides online on how to make your own out of a 18x18x16 moving box that you can buy from Home Depot for like $1.50. However, I can understand people not wanting to spend time doing arts & crafts shit, when clicking 'print' is so much easier. I think letting people choose between a USPSA target and a 8x11 paper at different distances is a good call.

I am kind of conflicted on the lack of a time limit. While most people do not have a shot timer, one can easily use the timer on their phone and add an extra second to account for the time it takes to bring their hand up from the phone to grasp their handgun at low ready. I think not having a time limit also makes it kind of pointless to have three different sets on stage 1, to have a reload on stage 2, and to have a slide rack on stage 3.

All that being said, every less barrier to entry that you have will certainly lead to higher engagement rates from the general.

How you handle yourself in high-stress, life-or-death situations is determined by things beyond our understanding. You either have the right stuff or you don't, and no amount of training will help you if you don't. The shitty part is, there's no way to know until it's time to act.

Right stuff or not, your hands start shaking and it's really difficult to control. That's why you have to have training because if you don't know how to shoot then you're not going to be able to hit anything in that state. I guess eventually you just stop getting it when crazy shit happens but unless you're getting into fights constantly then you probably won't be able to train yourself out of that automatic response.

>>65414938
Yeah I'm not saying don't train at all, I'm just saying that even if you're a top-tier shooter, you might not have the presence of mind to position yourself correctly, draw at the right time, consider what's beyond your target etc. Defending yourself from a methhead with a knife at 20 feet is one thing, using your ccw to engage a guy armed with a rifle in a chaotic mess of a situation is totally different and requires a bunch of skills that can't really be trained.

the aluminum one is cheaper and half the weight IIRC but still balances very nicely. Without a match length barrel, or a threaded barrel, the gap right at the muzzle between the slide and weight is kind of atrocious and directs blast sideways and towards you

you should get a match length barrel when you can upgrade

my new gun was just glitching hardcore today for the first 100 rounds, what the fuck? at least once every clip, sometimes up to 2 or 3 times, there would be failures to feed or failures to fully return to battery, where i would either have to completely unclog a jam or at least push the slide all the way forward before i could fire the gun. what the hell was that? and before you say some dumb ass wrist shit, the gun was even glitching when i would rack the gun for reloads. the last 50 rounds i did fired totally flawlessly, but i dont know if the gun was fixed or if that was because i started mag dumping the rest of the ammo i had on me as fast as possible so i could leave the range.

The PX4 is the final iteration in Beretta's attempt to modernize the 92. It was apparent in the 90s that the 92/96 was not beefy enough for .40 S&W and that the Military service guns were getting beat up. Beretta attempted some stuff with the Brigadier line which the heavier duty slide is reinforced and the slower slide velocity might mitigate recoil. But as the Border Patrol found out that it wasn't enough; BP Beretta 96 Brigadiers were cracking their frames in 10-15k rounds, but the BP were shooting super hot 155 gr .40 S&W loads.

With the Beretta Cougar, Beretta tried a rotating barrel system, like a rotating bolt in a rifle, to mitigate the recoil of .40 S&W. The cougar was very similar to a 92, aluminum framed, shares some parts. While it did see some adoption, it was losing to polymer striker fired guns. Beretta then converted their Cougar design to a polymer gun. The PX4 is that gun. It came in Full size, Compact, and Subcompact, with the Full and Compact using the rotating bolt. The Subcompact is almost an entirely different gun but does share some parts, it's purpose was to be a smaller compact gun as a police back up weapon that shares magazines with the fullsize.

It uses a innovative for it's time, removable trigger cassette, so the user could theoretically change between DAO, DA/SA easily and also allowed the guns to be repaired super easily with cassettes removed and replaced. Kind of like the new modular FCU systems that guns use but Beretta did not have the foresight to make the cassette the serialized component, it was more of an ease of unit armorer addition.

>>65415371
Get the LTT Trigger bar and it doesn't seem any longer compared to a stock 92. What I have seen is that some people have guns with ALOT of overtravel which contributes to that reset distance.
>>
>>65415371
>>
>>65415275
Well, is your new gun just new to you or is it brand new out of the box? Seems like it could be a couple of things, right? 1) If it was brand new, maybe yeah it needs a couple hundred rounds to break in a bit or 2) if it was used you may have unfortunately inherited someone else's problem.
I've got large hands and sometimes I can get in the way of the gun's mechanics, right? So like I can cause some of the malfunctions. It honestly sounds to me like you could have been doing that, but I'm making that assessment only because you said you fired off the last 50 without failure.
>>
>>65415384
>>
>>65415380
Forgot to mention, the rotating barrel really does cut down recoil. I don't really notice it that much on the 9mm fullsize but the .40 S&W fullsize and 9mm compacts it's very soft shooting.

I used to think that this video shows off good shooting but I can see my grip breaking down towards the end, but this is without any grip tape or grip enhancement. It's cringe. I'm shooting 9mm ammo that's loaded to 39k PSI, 115gr going 1300 FPS, quite hot ammo.

Don't discount it yet. I can totally relate to where you're at right now. When I picked up my steel frame pdp I was on cloud nine until i took it to the range and it proceeded to fail out about 10 times in the first box of 50 i put through it - in very similar ways to what you described with your sig. I made sure to fully strip and lubricate it when I got it home. Next range trip I was highly conscious of my hand placement to ensure I wasn't inducing failure. And... I had a few more ftf. But I pushed about 300 rounds through it on that second trip. That was several thousand rounds ago now and I haven't had another failure from that pistol. Hopefully you will have a similar experience and your sig will hum after a little break in
>>
>>65415449
LTT recommends 13# or heavier for confident reliability, I think
I run a 12# with a lighter firing pin spring and it strikes primers fine, no problems in a few hundreds rounds so far
>>
>>65415449
You need to be using one of the skeleton hammers for a higher striking velocity, but down to 13 was considered reliable, but I stick with 14 pounds. Langdon's new optimized hammer he says has the most striking force.

Guns differ, some people say 12 is fine. But they could have THAT gun that is micrometers different and hits that just a little bit harder. Or they only use ammo with soft primers.

Stick with 14 and actually train with your gun to catch it if is one of those guns that doesn't hit hard enough.

Before I got the OPTB, my gun had that. But intermittently. Randomly it would go from super long reset to short OPTB type reset, as if the firing pin block lifter was getting skipped some of the time. I spoke to Ernest about it, he said he's heard that before but didn't have a solution. OPTB gave it a super short reset all the time, so it must have been the trigger bar, or lifter arm.

>>65415411
Butting my fat head in here cause I don't think many have them; it pretty much sucks. It's rather huge, rather fat, trigger sucks, has a really uncomfterble grip (imagine holding an AK mag), safety/decocker is upside down and the fulcrum is in the MIDDLE of the lever not the end, so it's very hard to actuate, sights are tiny, and a very common issue is the rubber overmold on the grip dries up and cracks off

But it still looks rad

Oh did I mention the trigger sucks?

Oh.

>"Texas-based Staccato, the double-stack 1911 gunmaker formerly known as STI, decided that it can do with fewer dealers.

>In a letter that can best be described as blunt, Staccato informed about 200 retailers that “you will no longer be an authorized Staccato dealer effective immediately.”

>The company said the move was “part of a broader initiative to reduce the size of our dealer network so we can provide greater support and resources to a smaller group of partners,” and was not “a reflection of your organization’s performance or the value of our business relationship.”

>The sentiment of the “it’s not you, it’s me” Dear John letter doesn’t really feel genuine, particularly when the company informed dealers that they had “cancelled all your existing backorders” and “will not be shipping any (in-process) orders.”

>Just in case dealers were thinking there might be a chance of getting back together, Staccato asked for the ring back, telling the now ex-dealers “all open invoices shall be paid within (15) days of termination/expiration.”

>Since they were moving out, Staccato also decided they wanted the television, the record collection, and the dog. Dealers were instructed to “please remove all Staccato branding, logos, and any references identifying your business as an authorized Staccato dealer from your storefront, website, and online listings.”

>The “please” was an especially nice touch.

>They closed the letter with a heartfelt, “We sincerely appreciate your partnership and support of the Staccato brand, and we thank you for your business.”

oh. this is like dropping a bucket of hot shit on your dealers and customers.

no wonder Nighthawk made this post: >>65414385

Or:
>Eh, I’m not a huge fan of Staccato in the first place, since the changeover from STI it’s been a downhill slope with their QC, but Shooters Choice has been known as MAP violators and that very well could be the reason behind that. I’ve seen plenty of distributors and dealers get cut exactly like that for violating MTP/MAP
interesting opinion that this guy thinks their QC has gotten WORSE from their STI days. But if dealers were violating MAP which hurts other dealers then them getting this brutal treatment makes sense.

worth a shot. from what I've seen in various expansion tests, PPU jhps always have terrible expansion, regardless of the caliber. they always have much lower average velocities than everything else that they're tested against too, so being chronically under-loaded may very well be their issue. then again, in the lucky gunner 9x18 test, Hornady 95gr ftx had reliable expansion in ballistic gel, and they only had an average velocity of 953fps. so it's also possible that PPU just has dogshit serbian monkey brained projectile designs that won't expand no matter how fast they're flying.

Here's a better reference. The mesko stuff was fine, a little dirty but nothing too bad. This MFS stuff is everywhere and I had maybe four or five case ruptures from a single box. I still have ten boxes I need to do something with. Probably just shoot it all and never buy it again.

The cool thing with the MFS ammo was they actually sintered steel for the bullet so it's extremely light for load, only 71 grains. They did this because they weren't sure if normal Soviet 9x18 Mak would run reliably in the 82's polygonally rifled barrel. I don't know how reloading works, but it might actually be worth it to buy a couple boxes and cannibalize the projectiles for your cartridges if velocity is the name of the game

In the market for a slimline 9 after having a bodyguard 2.0 on my waist I realize having a thin gun is insanely more comfortable for me. So I've spent the last couple weeks researching what to get in my free time and it seems like the 43X/48 are literally the only reliable guns in this segment

>P365
Trigger return spring. Manual says 10k round replacement. Dozens if not hundreds of individuals reporting it snapping resulting in dead triggers at 500-3000 rounds. Also rust also sig. Sucks cause I actually like how they feel in hand and shoot especially the XL.
>CC9
Failure to extracts issues and general feeding issues at an alarming rate for something from HK (USA.. probably why)
>Shield
Pins walking out. Feed ramp issues (literally the same I saw with my BG 2.0). Just general dogshit QC and customer service from modern smith. I'm willing to put up with it on the BG 2.0 cause its a very unique gun.
>Hellcat
Springfield.
>FN Reflex
Typical cheaper FN pistol issues FTF etc. etc.
>CSX E-Series
Honestly seems to be great I just HATE how it looks
>Kimber CDS9
This intrigued me the most cause everyone loved how it shoots and the grip but seems to have a lot of reliability issues with the gun itself and the mags.

I guess I'm just going with a 43X. Kinda boring and I know I'll probably dislike the trigger but I want something I don't have to be anxious about.

Sounds overly autistic. Just get the one you like the feel and shootyness of most, which sounds like it's the P365. I also agree, it's one of the softer shooting micro9s and despite the itty bitty grip it's still quite shootable. Are you one of these people with toxic sweat that has a rust problem? If not I don't see why the Sig would be a proberlm

43X is fine too. Is that the one where Glock finally, in the face of aftermarket superiority, updated their magazine to nominal double stack capacity?

Why is my opinion important, I don’t even own a staccato. I should, I want one for carry as a “mid tier” carry gun I can trust since it’s built for Heroes (me).

I am immediately suspicious of the claims from the dealers who got kicked out. I haven’t finished Ben’s video but I’ve already made up my mind that Staccato can do no wrong and clearly the dealers weren’t selling to Heroes.

3-5 range days + dry fire and I'm already in the danger zone for the spring just hurts my brain.

Ordinally, 45 ACP struggles through barriers but if the expansion were limited a few tenths then it might perform better against automotive glass or composites while still have a final diameter wider than what you'd get with 9x19 JHP's.
