Posted this in the last thread but didnt get a response.
Im currently retrofitting my rifle. I am looking to reduce weight where I can and need some advice. I built it when I was younger and I didn't take weight into account. Here's what I have replaced so far:
>Shorter barrel
Bought a 16in gov't profile mid length replacing my 18 gov't profile rifle length
>Shorter handguard
I currently have an 15in RPTR M-Lok and am looking at the RPTR 13 in. Im looking for a shorter handguard because I am getting a RIFLESPEED Gas Controls and need a shorter handguard to access the dial.
>Carbine buffer weight/tube vs Rifle Buffer/tube
>Optic
Eotech EXP 3 on a unity riser with magnifier on a unity fold to center mount
>IR Laser
I currently have a Dbal D2 about mid way up my handguard and its pretty chucky. Is it worth selling my D2 and getting a FP PEQ 15 or OGL? The D2 is 8.6oz vs the OGL's 8oz and the PEQ's 7.5oz. It doesn't seem like it's worth it. The only positive would be in capability since they'd be FP laser instead of a civilian.
>>
>>65423859
d2s are 12.5 oz with battery compared to peq15 at 7.5 oz according to we own the night
govt profile is bad and 16" is also bad; dd gov profile 16" is ~27 oz and bcm elw 14.5" is ~21 oz
so changing those two things would save you ~11oz
could probably shave another ~5 oz by switching to a t2 from the eomeme
>>
>>65423859
I don’t have any civilian experience with, only military
our dbals were different though, we had the -A2
the Dbal is the super old version and Peqs are so much newer
We tried to get as many weapons to have the Peq, and a Dbal only if we didn’t have enough
it is so much more simple with a large button to press on top and a top mounted knob
and it wouldn’t be as bulky on just one side as the d2
but it would only be if it its worth it to you, lasers are something expensive to switch out and it’s a minimal weight difference
so you would have to hate the dbal enough to want to change it
you can probably get more weight savings out of the other parts
you just need to think how much you want to go towards more recoil from the shorter gas system, but still with rifle length and not an SBR you should be mostly ok

>>65423876
>so you would have to hate the dbal enough to want to change it
I dont hate it per say, its just bulky and want to shave down weight where I can to make it more handy
>you just need to think how much you want to go towards more recoil from the shorter gas system
That's why I chose the rifle length initially. I wish rifle length gas systems were reliable in shorter barrels. Im hoping that the mid length is similar to the rifle more so than a carbine.

A perfectly valid reason to use irons. I personally have a little bolt action carbine that I removed the scope from and just shoot with irons for no other reason than that I think it's more fun that way.

Flow 9k if you don't wanna fuck with the springs and gas plug. Otherwise with a regular high backpressure can you're gonna have to add in the cost of an ILWT adjustable plug and a set of yellow or white springs, probably both since they're pretty cheap. Though if you want 8" your only choice is to also get the ILWT barrel so might as well get it with the plug installed already unless you can find a gen 1 or 2 with one but those are hard to come by.

Pretty clear to me and it didn't take a 20 minute video of regurgitating PSA's self interested misinformation to figure it out... Form 1 registration of NFA firearms including SBS, SBR, AOW and suppressors is being challenged. Plaintiffs include all current and future GOA members... Plaintiffs are granted injunctive relief prohibiting the enforcement of the challenge NFA provisions against the.....all current and future GOA members thus can in accordance with their local laws, manufacture private non-commercial firearms such as SBS, SBR, AOW and suppressors without Form 1 registration and the kicker.... They don't even need to use a PSA product they can use a steel pipe and a nail.

YHM Kurz Ti is the best suppressor mounting device system out there currently IMO. Lightweight, mounts are 1.17oz
Short, mounts add 0.25" to the OAL of the suppressor
Cheap, They're $120 used but I've seen em as low as $60 at times used.
Active retention. Direct thread, and the whole host of sleepy ass threads+le heckin taper (Dead Air Xeno, YHM SRX, Plan B, Atlas etc) don't actually have active retention of the suppressor. Considering the failure condition of the suppressor coming loose... this is unacceptable.

Important: The folding sight assy should only be installed on NEW barrel assy's. Never machined for a Front Sight Base.
Yes, this Colt assy can be installed on standard Colt M4 series barrels if a rail assy is used.

It seems undeniable that the top priority should be backpressure and avoiding gas to the face
Beyond that, optimizing backpressure with whatever secondary parameter matters most, whether that be flash/signature suppression, duty use/full auto rating, recoil performance, exostomg mount compatibility, looks, etc.
Am I the single non-retard here?

tacswap has a ton. First result when I search is one for 350, second 395. There is a flood of them on there, pick what one you like.

NTA. Dont budget build. Buy a stripped lower and have it marked "other" at the gun merchant. That way you can turn it into whatever you want, then turn it back. You can get an acro with an adm mount new for 600. The acro can also go on your pistol.

If this is real then the only way he is close to 200lbs is if he is also close to 5 feet tall.

Battery powered?
Do you like the illuminated reticle?
I've been on the fence as to ACOG + red dot vs LPVO and think I've decided the ACOG is for me, but I think I'm leaning toward the TA01, no fiber optic, just a crispy black reticle
Do you generally like the illumination and find it useful?

>this will be the primary part that would determine the weight of the tool. You might want slimmer/lighter weight barrel if you are only after weight.
Im looking for a balance of shootability and weight. I dont want a barrel that will shift its poi after a few mag. Ive heard pencil barrels have an issue with that. Are their barrel profiles that are lighter but still have a chrome bore and have similar resistance (For lack of a better word. I know that every barrel had a point were poi will shift but ive read that govt barrels are a good compromise between the head resistance of an Hbar and the weight of a pencil barrel.)
