How does the experience differ shooting a 45 colt versus a 44 magnum?
I have a big iron 45, but sometimes I wonder if I’d like shooting a 44 magnum. Am I bi caliber curious?
>>
>>65470685
They're usually nothing alike
.45 Colt is comparable to .44 Special in standard loads. Some of the hot rodded loads can compare to .44 magnum, but not a lot of revolvers can handle them

No it isn't. The slide is partially cocking the hammer on every shot. The trigger is most similar to a standard striker fired pistol. I've shot them and they have no difference of feel in the trigger than a glock
It's quite possibly the worst gun you could use as some "le pwnd" for striker fired pistols

P10c is lower bore and a correctly sprung. Vp9 is the very definition of "made for the military" as it is sprung for +p but without the system in the USP that makes everything soft shooting. If you get the vp9 then you will have to run something like 200rounds of 124 9mm in order to wear out the pistol enough to shoot 115 well.

>For what possible reason would DAO be an advantage over DA/SA?
Over DA/SA specifically? When you're arming rank and file cops knowing full well that most of them will put the minimum effort into the minimum training actually required to keep their job, and some of them will be just plain retarded.
There's a reason, or a couple reasons really, why DAOs were taking over the LE world, right up until Glock ate their lunch by convincing everyone a 5-pound striker pull and a 10-pound DA pull were precisely interchangeable with respect to safety.

1. Consistent pull means a better standard of accuracy for a given amount of training. Difference goes down rapidly with increasing training, but at the level of your average non-firearm-enthusiast cop, it's significant.
2. One less way for retards to fuck up -- having a decocker means, sooner or later, somebody forgets to decock after chambering a round, then immediately ADs because they built sloppy handling habits around a DA first pull.
>>
>>65470859
The hk lem system should have been the fix. You have the same striker-like trigger normally, and if you have misfire, you just pull the DA trigger to force the round to go off. Dont know why that system didn't take off or get copied
>>
>>65470859
This argument is like saying steaks are inferior to mashed carrots because adults can eat both but babies can only eat the carrots. DAO is inferior to DA/SA in every way possible, end of story.

>>65470899
>Dont know why that system didn't take off or get copied
Because DA/SA is also superior to LEM.
>>
>>65470794
>tranny Bebop gun
Your Jericho will never ever be a real Cowboy Bebop gun with that rail and IWI markings.
>>
My next striker will either be a vpa1f or glock 45.6
My next hammer will be either a p30l or hk45.
>>
>>65470899
LEM is indistinguishable from DA/SA when you're actually firing and is accidentally an excellent civilian concealed carry trigger system while not really benefitting retarded cops that shoot a 45 round qual once a year.
LEM is really good when you have a small pistol and holster it with your thumb on the hammer, but also want a nice single-action pull weight on the draw

Not directly handgun related but does anyone here have a favorite 9mm can for PCCs? I know it's not handgu nrelated directly but I'm getting a Sig MPX this week and I want to suppress it. I know I will need to get an adjustable gas block, that's something I have already accounted for.

I was eyeing the Silencerco spectre, deadair mojave 9 and the deadair wolfman 9. I'm going to get a plan b set up for whatever can I do wind up getting because the sig 13.5x1 LH thread pitch is retarded. I'm more just curious about performance especially in their long configurations.

I know I can pick up a spectre 9 locally right now for like $750, not sure about either of the dead air cans.

I was wondering one day that if they made a 92(90two) and a USP with a polymer frame why did they never make a 226 with a polymer frame?
Turns out they did and it was a flop. It does feel like a more expensive gun than it costs though
>>

>>
>>65471191
>blatantly dishonest.
>The Lem reset is way too long. I understand that you really like the trigger system but you are letting your bias cloud your statements here.
the LEM reset has the exact same distance of travel and feel as DA/SA (V1 vs V3S):
https://files.catbox.moe/bignja.mp4
which makes sense because all LEM is doing is letting the trigger out via a sear and cocking piece that releases the trigger while holding mainspring tension. it's not some hideously complicated mechanism, it's basically just DA/SA that allows the trigger to fully let out rather than being held in SA mode when cocked.

Kek, i know, I know. Honestly never thought it would be of much use but it warped and cracked the frame as soon as I began tightening down the screws and there was a slight measure of resistance. It warped badly enough that i had to get an impact drill and a wrench to back the damn screws off enough for me to get my slide back out. It was a whopping $18. I left an honest review. It was exactly as described: a 3d printed product in the form of a rear sight pusher tool. Lol you get what you pay for.

I'll probably grab a "real" one instead of taking the shortcut. I just get tired of going to the LGS and forking over $40 to insert the rear sight every time I build out a new glock or want to change out sites. I build new "not glock" copies frequently enough that I can justify spending $100 for a "real" sight pusher

Neither is accurate enough at 50 yards for Bullseye
>>
>>65471847
>Am concerned about the 23's trigger however
the mark 23's trigger smooths out after a couple hundred rounds. I know this because my mark 23 from roughly 2007 has a better trigger than the "trigger job" I got on the LTT optics cut one I have.
the action and decocker mechanism is complicated as shit and there are no tutorials to taking it apart so beware of doing your own trigger job or disassembly since the last time I fully disassembled mine I was sweating
I don't know what expert you're talking about that has a bobbed hammer unless someone LEM'd it
the drawback of the MK23 is that if you don't like the sights, you're fucked unless you can find someone willing to fab or modify something like a fiber optic front sight. Also changing the elevation requires purchasing a new rear sight and installing it, versus adjustability on the USP-Ex
Aftermarket on the USP series is pretty big, so the headroom of where the trigger can go by installing parts is pretty high with short reset kits and flatface triggers. this aftermarket does not exist for the MK23

if you're using it for bullseye, you're paying $1000 extra (or $67.25 if you're burt) for features that don't contribute to bullseye shooting really at all.
I'm all for doing retarded shit with expensive guns so if you buy the mk23, you have my full support

like anon said there's actually an internal hammer that sits inside a cutout of the enclosed slide, that hits a firing pin
this is what it looks like on a five-seven MK2, but it's very similar on the M&P57
>>
>>65472020
A hammer, but internal. Literally
>>
>>65472032
>>65472048
>>65472050
How is that any different than a shrouded hammer? If I'm not mistaken, the idea behind shrouding the hammer is to prevent snagging from the draw. Isn't that basically the same term for the same thing? Is the M&P57 DA/SA because of its "internal hammer?" Can't be now that I think about it, I don't think you can decock it into DA.
>>
>>65472057
Google shrouded hammer, bro. It's still exposed so you can thumb it back into single. The idea here is to compete with strikers. There are a couple of advantages of internal hammer over a striker from my perspective. The recoil spring doesn't need to be as strong and it can make malfunctions easier to clear. And probably harder for the YOs to convert to FA.
>>
>>65472057
A shrouded hammer is still usually partially exposed
An internal hammer is fully encapsulated within the gun, like in the chiappa rhino. The m&p57 is indeed SAO and usually hammer fired guns have a better feeling trigger because you’re asking a single lever to a less mechanically complex task
Factory 5.7 is also primed with small rifle primers which have a thicker cup and require more force than pistol primers
>>
>>65472066
>>65472072
Why don't we see more guns with an internal hammer? All these explanations make it seem better than a striker fired gun. For the money, I'd rather take a hammer over a striker. The M&P57 is the only gun I know that has an internal hammer.
>>
>>65472078
The Colt 1903 Pocket "Hammerless" had an internal hammer.

It blew me away to learn they were making striker fired guns around the turn of the century. I for a very long time thought Glock invented the striker fired pistol.
>>
>>65472094
lmfao, if that blows your mind, check this out. this is a vz. 58. It's an AK looking rifle that isn't an AK. It's a short-stroke gas piston operated, striker-fired rifle.
>>
>>65472078
Both the m&p57 and FN Five-seven have internal hammers
But you probably can name double digit numbers of internally hammer fired guns without trying because basically every PCC/SMG and intermediate caliber carbine uses one
In pistols it’s not terribly space efficient and requires different springing because there’s less hammer momentum with a tiny internal hammer versus a fat external one
A simpler answer is probably that most striker parts can be made out of laser cut sheet stock or castings, which cuts production costs, which manufacturers favor
>>65472094
The Luger P08 is also striker fired

Come again? I know this replaced the vz52 because the Soviet Union didn't like the czecho-slovaks were using proprietary 7.62x45 ammo, but had no idea it was this radically different. I was disinterested in this because I thought it was just another Eastern Bloc AK, but now it really piqued my interest.

For the sake of this discussion I was only referring to handguns, though I wasn't aware that internal hammers dominated that market segment.

It never even occurred to that the P08 doesn't have an external hammer. Cool fact tripfren.

What? No. Don't get a .380 glock. Get the bodyguard if you want a compact .380, but why the fuck would you want a .380 glock? Are you european?
>>
>>65472148
I've been here three times, asked for opinions on first time owner friendly conceal carry guns and last I was here I was bombarded with "get a glock 19, or maybe 42"

I come back periodically to gauge other opinions. I'm in KY so not worried about permits currently, just want something to start on with affordable ammo for practice.
>>
>>65472156
>just want something to start on with affordable ammo for practice.
Then you 100% want 9mm. I'd say get the g43x w/ the new 15rd mags or the g47 if you want a bigger gun.

.380 is a weak cartridge, there is a reason there aren't many .380 PCC/SMGs. If you're standing in front of someone without any barriers, then .380 is okay - even in a ~3" barrel. I would worry about car doors/windows and windshields if I was carrying a .380 though.
>>
>>65472162

>Would you spring for semi-auto on the 43x? looks like it's basically an extra $100
it really depends on what you want. For me personally, I carry a hi point 40 S&W. On the weekends I usually pick up fries from McDonald’s for my cat. It’s on the rough side of town. 40 shoots a bigger bullet than 9mm so that’s how I know it’ll be good for the hood. If you don’t go near the hood, 9 will be fine. Anyway, just make sure you do research and if you have the opportunity to test out the gun you get, then that’s good. Get what you feel comfortable with. 40 has knockdown power, but sometimes if you’re not careful and don’t know what you’re doing, it can jam. That’s why I can never recommend 40.

There's still people out there that buy shit like the Walther PPK which has a bevvy of issues.

For whatever reason there hasn't been a single reported case of a flux raider ADing. That could just be due to them being much less common, but some have claimed that the tighter frame to slide fit may play some sort of role in that whole situation. YMMV.

the raider has a manual safety and both a stiffer and thicker frame than the normal polymer P320 grip modules that protrudes wider than the slide

i don't get what the argument is, that people should be paying agency price for something that is in most respects functionally equivalent to a cheaper product, despite not having SOP/authorized dealer/agency buying requirements that they have to go by?
a TLR-1HL puts out 1,000 lumen at 20,000cd; an X-300u puts out 1,000 lumens at 11,300 cd, what in your mind justifies the X-300u being 100% more expensive than the TLR-1HL
the x-300u is fine but at a certain point you should just start shoving pokemon cards into your riflestock if the measure of a flashlight is the price

going into active COMBAT knowing you're going to get SHOT AT THAT DAY is different then you putting an O-light on your carry gun on the genuinely extremely off chance you actually gotta blow someone the fuck away

there's a difference, and you just need to be aware of the difference so you don't expect your cheap shit to preform at the level of other shit. Some people are fine with cheap/mid level shit on their carry and HD guns because they aren't going into COMBAT and you will probably never have to fire your weapon in anger at anyone

Everyone needs to experience a flux/pistol chassis to see how mid they are compared to a roller delayed PCC.

I have one at my LGS for 1800 dollars and nobody is EVER going to buy that fucking thing, its not a good handgun and its not a good PDW, it sucks at being both. The stability you get from the shit ass blade stock barely makes up for the fact you have to carry this piece of shit in a bag as opposed to ON YOUR BELT like a normal person carries a weapon.

like don't get me wrong it's neat, but it's not 1800 fucking dollars neat... a P365 XL isn't even 800 dollars so you're paying what.. 1200 for the fuckin frame? I guess it does have a TLR and Sig dot on it so that's probably 50% of the whole cost of the frame but still.. DAMN

getting shot at doesn't make your flashlight less reliable. dropping it on the ground makes it less reliable and that can happen when you're fiddling with it on the toilet. i want a light that is made well so that it WONT flicker or shut off if it gets knocked around. this is a difference of only like a hundred bucks, you know? even when i was making 24/hr i didnt scoff at that.

bro you're trapped in like 2005, cheap WML's are much better then they have ever been.. I'm still not going to buy any of them and will stick to surefire and streamlight but tons of newer companies are cranking out 100~ dollar WML's that work fine for ILLUMINATING A TARGET

I have a turbo on my Beretta, but I think I would rather have the ultra for a handgun, then toss the turbo onto a rifle.
>>
>>65473196
stepping up from a pistol to anything with a stock and something resembling a foregrip is a pretty huge step in 'type' of gun idk if I'd even really compare them anymore

it does have a decent footprint still if you have any extended mags, but if you keep it in a bag with flushfits you're sorta screwing over one of the advantages of it which is really high capacity. I guess you could keep the flush fits in the gun and then have a spare extended 25/30 round next to it so if you have a moment while deploying swap to the larger mag and take the small one and shove it in your pocket

It just really loses points for me that you kinda NEED those larger mags or you're stuck with a pistol that has a stock and basically no other advantage. It IS really stable even with the shitty blade obviously.. you have more points of contact and it does have like 6" of barrel so.. idk like I said it's neat but not 1800 dollars neat.
>>
>>65473206
>reddit spacing schizo

>>65473208
>do you need a holo sight
Do I need it? N O. But I want it, and I'm curious to compare it to my other dots.
>>
>>65473148
I like how the Jarvis comp looks as well, but I wouldn't call the Beretta one ugly though. The Beretta comp wins for me because it doesn't require a set screw.
>>
>>65473216
If I ever got a 'retta I'd want the compensator from leon the professional
>>
>>65473208
>do you really need a holo sight for your handgun
I thought the same thing until I actually fired a handgun with a holo/red dot and yes it actually is pretty amazing. You basically just remove the need to have your front and rear perfectly aligned. If you already have decent fundamentals for pistols a red dot will just make you faster and more accurate 100%

it's a personal preference too, if you dont have irons that co-witness and your dot goes down you just get to guess-shoot through a giant square with maybe your front sight for reference.. so that would suck. I'm gunna get a Holosun SCS for my CZ P10C Ported, it sits really low on the slide and lets you have a lower 1/3rd co-witness with your irons. It also matches the slide serrations and looks really cool.. AND you dont need mounting plates for the SCS series.
>>
>>65473211
>it's neat but not 1800 dollars neat

the chassis itself is 600 bucks and sometimes goes on sale. they have an even cheaper polymer frame for 400, a 365XL is about 500 used.

>>
>>65473219
As the other poster pointed out, I don't mean a red dot, I mean a holographic, IE: Eotech. it's a different technology than how a red dot is projected. More complicated, less battery life, you can't have multi reticle, but it's better for the tism.
>>
>>65473218
out of curiosity I was checking which one that is and it's apparently Italian unobtanium so.. this guy named Alan with Griffith Guns makes something called the Biohazard GG92 which looks similar. Leons comp has ports straight out the top with no cuts that you can see from the sides, but it's pretty close in how large it is and its overall dimensions

OR the Rics SGS, that one actually looks a little closer but idk how to buy them, they're out of business now... but that Griffith Guns guy is currently active so
>>
>>65473237
Can you post a pic? If it looks close enough then maybe that'll go on the list
>>
>>65473234
I see what you meant, I work at an LGS so people often call them both and don't really understand they're different so yeah. Holosights also usually have better paralaxing along with what you listed.. I should have followed the replies up further lol my bad

>>65473258
Berettas are fucking great guns bro, extremely accurate, hammer fired, classy looking while still being extremely reliable and 'duty ready'. You have the regular 92 series with the DA/SA or you can go the XI route and get a 1911/Beretta lovechild with controls like a 1911, SAO with a even better triggerpull then a normal Beretta's SA pull. I have a Squalo so it came out of the box with some competition upgrades already on it and I love that gun. It shoots great and feels amazing in my hand, AND it looks fucking rad, its my classy carry/comp gun.
>>
>>65473270
You don't have to sell me on the 'rett I already like them. I pocket carry a bobcat when I'm not appendixing my vp9, so I already have my toe into the company. I just haven't seen a true need for another 9 yet but I could justify it as "first hammer fired 9"

Revolvers are the easiest handguns to shoot (sans high power snubbies or something) due to how much weight they have and potential lack of recoil when using XX caliber special rounds.

They look nice. For that price, there's a catch. Fall apart upon recoil or battery life measured in days.
Alternatively, they've revolutionized pistol optics and everybody else will have to dump their prices to stay in the game.

It's a well-made gun but it has one of the worst triggers ever, so you'd immediately want to send it to LTT if you did buy one. If you want an HK just to have one then buy something in 45.
