It's been a while since we've had a theme this based
>>65601824
>>65601954What’s your favorite old west loadout anons? I’m quite fond of lever actions.
>>65602007Gimme a schofield and a sharps rifle
Trapdoors are really underrated. Wish they were used more in Old West media, since they were by far the most common rifle in use on the frontier.
>>65602007My fearsome scowl that made some poor gas station clerks recoil and reach under the counter when I stopped to pee on a road trip through the Plains. I miss back when I could be someone of cowboy or a (mild) Western ruffian. Now I gotta teach physics and write proposals and crap.
>>65602029>Now I gotta teach physics and write proposals and crap. What are high schoolers like nowadays?
>>65602022Wish there were more late-westerns so that more bolt actions could appear.
hello anon who made this artwork... I was quite pleased to save this and thought it was fantastic. Hopefully you see this. Well I reckon speaking of the devil my neighbor told me that he was at our local gunshop and a fella traded in a 1952 tula SKS...Any one of you fags got an idea what a good price would be? Yeah I know I could look on gun broker but I'd much rather interact with my fellow autists.
>>65602007I'm dragooooooning!>>65602039I always thought that most westerns focused on the later period, after the Civil War and before 1900, so that they could have cartridge based guns and skirt around slavery.I guess that it depends on your media diet.
>>65602034Slightly younger than people I have to teach and probably similarly bad at math, science, and understanding poorly written lab manuals that should have been fixed years ago.
>>65601954>work didn't suck today>fry up a perfect steak>steam some broccoli, drizzle with butter, rosemary, balsamic vinegar to go with it>pour a glass of kvas>4chan is backwhat a good day
>>65602058>steam some broccoliBlegh
>>65602049So what's community college like nowadays?
My lovely fox wife Leva
>>65602062you have to eat your vegetables so you grow up big and strong anon!
>>65602069Almost certainly a better place to take physics 1 and 2. I feel bad for how much people pay to take a class with over 500 student with most of the teaching done by the kind of people who post in /ak/
>>65602080yea yea I know... but STEAMED OF ALL THINGS? No thanks
>>65602046I’m thinking more along the lines of Joe Kidd and Red Dead Redemption. Really that period before WW1 but after the turn of the century when the old west was dying or already dead but not quite gone from living memory.
>>65602085Yeah, just chucked it in the cast iron after the steak is done, little bit of water, on goes the lid, and it's good to go by the time the steak has rested. You don't have to obliterate it into a soggy mess.
>>65602080I HATE steamed vegetables. I like the crunchiness. Broccoli is gross either way though
>>65602022Did you know "trapdoor" also called needle rifle?
>>65602091The smell and texture is a no go for me. I don't like broccoli anyways. Baked cauliflower on the other hand..>>65602140>I HATE steamed vegetablesYou tell em

Anyway...
>>65602214Thank God. For a second, I was worried you might not be a virgin like the rest of us.
>>65602214Oh yeah I think you talked about this awhile ago at least your uncle that is. Well that sucks. >Anyway......so what are you doing in minecraft? I haven't played since at least 2024 myself. Im thinking of actually playing the OG Xbox one version for a nostalgia trip although I think I'll just get more depressed doing so..

>>65602216>not be a virgin like the rest of usOf course he isn't. He have a baby at his house, how could he hold himself.
>>65602007Personally I just think there's something neat about a good old fashioned SxS, that and a Dragoon because BIG IRON
>>65602224>Well that sucks.Yeah.>so what are you doing in minecraft? I haven't played since at least 2024 myself. I started a new world in the latest version but after seeing all the new shit it feels like way too much. I went down to version 12.2 (for no reason other than that's what 2B2T is on) and I gotta say that without the shipwrecks and nether portal thingys everywhere, getting iron and diamonds after mining and exploring caves feels a lot more rewarding. I eventually went up to version 1.14 since apparently blue dye didn't exist in 12.2, which hindered me from making the Republika Srpska flag. >>65602228Man that's my family, not me.
>>65602246Did you hear about the umamusume live concert in the US getting cancelled because they were unable to obtain the necessary visas to enter? Now there's a bunch of sad taiki art everywhere

>>65602450>>65602453Yeah, it's always funny to me when you can immediately tell a character was drawn by a man with minimal experience with women (or vice versa), shit's just so obvious.Of course, nothing is more awkward than a man written by a woman who clearly doesn't have many men in her life, now that's some awkward ass shit.
>>65602459>drawing a tomboy makes you an incel Holy projection
>>65602441>Ram RanchHonestly, it still baffles me that a songwriter actually wrote this shit? I mean why? To protest? To promote gay sex?

>>65601276I didn't get to reply to this last thread because of the PHP crap, so I'm putting it here. All things being equal? Megacity probably. Preferably somewhere cold enough where an outer layer of some sort is always acceptable. Hell, I'd live in fucking Norilsk if I could get whatever gun I wanted legally and hassle-free.Rural areas are fine and all, but it's admittedly a pain in the ass as it is living in my sleepy southern city where everything closes super early. Only 24 hour spots are waffle houses, two whataburgers, and one gas station. Not even bars remain open that late here. We already have fairly good gun laws, may as well go bigger on both the gun and city fronts. 24 hour everything with full autos? Absolutely, the only shitty part of the deal is indoor ranges potentially being restrictive about what ammo types you can shoot, because they already do that here with non-slug shotshells (potential equipment damage) and steel bullets (fire hazard). Outdoor ranges here are far more laissez-faire about whatever you bring, but there's only like 2 around here, one that's too far for practicality and another that's almost never open and has some kinda membership bullshit. If you mean like cyberpunk-tier megacity though, I'd imagine that indoor ranges could be about as good as the outdoor ranges that already exist here with all the benefits of the indoor ones (can just set up and shoot for a fee), as well as being 24-hour deals. I'll take that deal in a heartbeat.
>>65602571The older you get the less you want to be up late
>>65602512That is indeed the dream, a woman without any of the bullshit of women, sadly such a thing cannot exist, a male brained woman would simply be too powerful.
>>65602046The golden era of the Old West was largely in that post-Civil War/pre-1890s period, though a few old movies like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly take place during the Civil War. Surprisingly, that example doesn't really take either side of the conflict, there's a lot of grey areas surrounding the war and the men in it that none of the main characters are really personally concerned with at all. If any movies about the Alamo count as westerns, those are probably the furthest back you'll see (notably with no real revolvers, I've seen a couple movies where the Mexicans have duckfoots and pepperboxes though), though that's more historical retelling than independent historical fiction largely divorced from actual events. That's probably about as far as you'll get, while the Old West could reasonably occupy settings from long prior to the revolver to the cusp of the World Wars, most people are gonna expect some of the stereotypical "cowboy" guns. They're at least gonna expect revolvers at bare minimum, if they see a pistol that isn't one they'll be confused.I find it a shame because you could go all the way back to before the Revolutionary War with this. I've always thought there's some untapped potential around early Mexico, there was a sizable Japanese population there for work and they got stuck there after Japan closed their borders again. A western focused on a new-world samurai wielding a brace of flintlocks and a katana sounds awesome, but many people are ignorant of this period in history in the first place. You might also manage something far later than pre-WW1 in certain areas, even up to the 40s most people in the rural US still lived similarly to the late 1800s. Most tech they'd see is a tractor or a pickup, if even. It was culture shock for a lot of farm boys being sent from that world into the thick of World War 2. The main thing stopping that time from having Western settings is organized police forces, especially on the federal level.
>>65602584Probs why so many dudes wanna fuck a monster girl. They're not only without most of the bullshit but they can actually handle themselves and are totally down with decimating someone should they have to.
>>65602576I'm nearing wizardry, so I understand that. Used to be able to stay awake multiple days at a time if I wanted in my late teens and early 20s, now I'm finding it harder to pull even one all-nighter.Regardless, I prefer to exist in the night (and still work nights, despite the increasing difficulty of adjusting) the main obstacle is that there's no services then. If I could do everything I have to do on a daily basis in the nighttime hours, I would. Church/confessionals, shooting, eating at a diner or getting a half-decent coffee, just going to the store for a battery or tool or whatnot. So far everything I've listed needs to be done in the day, when it's hot and the sun shines in your eyes. I'd rather be sleeping past those hours in air-conditioned comfort.
>>65602593>no uma event in USAwhat a shame
>>65602606uhh... I don't mean to prod but.. you're not a vampire.. are you?

Remember, a good airgun can change your life for the better!
>>65602593>Surprisingly, that example doesn't really take either side of the conflictNot surprising at all, since it's a revisionist western. No heroes, no villains, and many tropes get subverted. The more you think about it the more you realize that whole movie borders on parody.
>>65602623Whats a good air pistol that's accurate for target shooting?

>>65602022Kinda unrelated to what you just said, but 1860s-1910s US military uniforms were peak aesthetics, best uniforms in American History hands down
>>65602039>>65602046>>65602593I, for one, would like to see Westerns set before the Civil War. Most people seem to think no Americans set foot in the West before 1865, aside from Lewis and Clark, a bunch of fur trappers and Mormons

>>65602932>This premise relies upon the majority of Union soldiers caring about slavery in the slightest,They did care about it later on in the war and a not unnotable number cared about it early on.>>65602844I think that premise was already run all the way through with GATE and it was thoroughly unsatisfying for the most part.
>>65603009Also no union regiment is capable of establishing a large gunpowerder state on it's own lol. nor is a modern regiment of the US army either.
>>65602967g00k m00t tripped over the wire that gives the glowies acces to the backside of 4chan so they shut it down
>>65602932>This premise relies upon the majority of Union soldiers caring about slavery in the slightestWhether they saw it as a way to cripple/punish the South and win the war or out of genuine abolitionist sentiments, the vast majority of Union soldiers at the end of the war wanted the country to get rid of slavery for good>anyone present within the military at a time when basic literacy was still uncommon to have knowledge of how to go about building steam enginesBy 1860, the literacy rate among the white adult population in the northern United States was around 90%Regiments from the North, and more specifically New England, would have factory and railroad workers, lumberjacks and various other laborers. Let's say some guys from the Army Corps of Engineers and a steam ship with its crew get isekaid with them and a lot of the 1860s technology can be reproduced (albeit roughly and with a few adjustments) if given enough time>to negate the necessity of a massive dedicated servile class in such a preindustrial world.Pre modern Europe had a bunch of countries without a servile class and they were doing just fine, if not better than countries with serfdom or slaveryOf course, where the Union soldiers appear in the world and the local political, religious and economic context at the time they arrive largely determines how things will unfold. But if they manage to secure a decent amount of territory in a quiet place and are given a few years, they have the means to kickstart their very own industrial revolution with all the technological and societal changes that entails
>>65602932>A military unit with no women among them stranded in a strange world sounds more like the start of another retelling of Heart of Darkness. That's what would probably happen if a confederate regiment gets isekaid instead. 1860s Mississippians or Georgians would feel right at home in a place where people are treated like cattle based on some arbitrary differences
>>65603011See >>65603017Men of the Civil War were citizen soldiers who had all kind of very useful crafts and occupations before enlisting in the army : miners, lumberjacks, craftsmen, factory workers, farmers, tailors and so on and so forth, you also had engineers and teachers among the officersThey are much more capable of recreating their society in a new world than 21st century soldiers would
>>65602967Something about vulnerabilities with PHP. I ain't a computer guy so idk the specifics
>>65603009>GATEThe manga is MUCH better than the anime, if anyone's wondering, in all aspects
>>65603028>Men of the Civil War were citizen soldiers who had all kind of very useful crafts and occupations before enlisting in the army : miners, lumberjacks, craftsmen, factory workers, farmers, tailors and so on and so forth, you also had engineers and teachers among the officersYeah but a 19th century society still had hundreds of years of development on it, and it's not likely that they'll have all the knowledge, resources, or infrastructure to make an empire before they all die or go senile unless all the building blocks are there for them to just slot in place. I think people just continually underestimate how much work has gone into getting us where we are right now, probably because the modern culture emphasises constant progress. And yes, this includes conservatives.>>65603031I still don't think it's very good. The concept is interesting, but without fleshing out the other side into at least spiritual equals I think the type of story will always trend towards slop.

>>65602967The entire infrastructure of the internet is based on a few companies, including Cloudflare. Yesterday there was an insane vulnerability in the system that allowed attackers easy access to the sites via PHP. Therefore to fix it you had to patch the security of the website. Leave the site up would allow people to still read but also leave it open to attack in the meantime, so the expert advice was to just shut down your site until it was patched. So 4chan went down, as did loads of sites.
>>65603042>The concept is interesting, but without fleshing out the other side into at least spiritual equals I think the type of story will always trend towards slopGentlmen, may I humbly introduce you to "The Lost Regiment", by William R. Forstchen>"In 1865, a Union regiment marches aboard a transport ship only to be buffeted through space and time and shipwrecked in an alien land, where these Civil War soldiers introduce unheard-of ideas of freedom, equality, and democracy">"They land on Valennia, an alien world inhabited by various transposed human civilizations (such as medieval Russians) and hunted by the Tugars—monstrous, nine-foot-tall, horse-riding nomadic aliens who treat humans as a food source">"Armed with 19th-century repeating rifles and artillery, the Union soldiers must help organize a peasant revolt, spark an industrial revolution, and wage a war for survival and liberation"It was written in the 90s but it's still available for sale. There's 10 or so books iirc, I'm currently reading the 3rd, and it's a lot of funIt tackles exactly what anons have been discussing in this thread, and I think a lot of people here would like it if they're into Civil War stuff, SF and well written stories full of action and drama

I've been wondering, if you're really supposed to "flush out" corrosive primer salts with hot water, let the gun dry, then re-oil it to prevent rust, how exactly did soldiers in the field clean their guns? I doubt most of them were pouring a bucket worth of water down their receivers/bores/gas tubes/bolt face every single time they cleaned their guns (which would have to be pretty frequent)
>>65604347>how exactly did soldiers in the field clean their gunsPiss.>(which would have to be pretty frequent)no it wouldn't. It's not like they're shooting all the time.
Based on /g/'s ongoing coverage, basically two critical PHP security exploits that allowed full RCE (remote code execution, aka we just 100% hacked your shit all your base are belong to us lol we exfil'd all your data and changed all your passwords because we had root access lmao) were discovered using frontier AI a week or two ago. Turns out the PHP Foundation knew about these since 2024 but determined there was no way for human hackers to exploit them, but whoops genAI is now fast enough to do it, not smart but fast enough. They had security patches almost ready to go but were coordinating with security companies like Chainguard and Calif to roll out a simultaneous patch to prevent exactly what happened... Until some retards at Chainguard and Calif leaked enough data to not only alert the world's hackers these exploits existed, but exactly how to hack into every PHP system on the globe, roughly 12 hours before the patch was actually ready in a usable form.Absolute fucking chaos ensued. By government order Japan went completely fucking dark, every national cyber security agency told everyone to go offline too, and massive chunks of the internet including 4chan and the Internet Archive had to go offline in order to protect themselves until the fix binaries were ready in a user-patchable form. Amazon reported their honeypot servers recorded well over a million of these specific PHP attacks in something like 2 hours. Even today there's literally millions of smaller orgs and unattended servers running obsolete PHP builds that are 100% root hackable in literal seconds using these flaws since the emergency patches are only for the latest PHP build. Absolute fucking madness.I will post more about yesterdays absolute insanity in a bit.

>>65604361I accidentally swapped a few numbers. Needed to fix them quickly UNLIKE SOME SERVERS.To add a cherry to the shit sundae that was the PHP apocalypse, we found out Emudhra, an Indian "IT" firm that is/was one of the world's main trust certificate issuers used easy to guess 1-3 digit numbers to generate an unknown number of certificates (out of a total of 60 million issued by Emudhra worldwide), one of which was 4. Yes, the number 4. What should be a 100+ digit number creating a nearly unbreakable security key... Was literally the number 4. A child could easily break that "encryption" and do a MITM attack to impersonate any website or organization, so suddenly Microsoft sending you a "security patch" named coolvirus42069rapesyourpc.exe that you can't block because lmao signed Microsoft trust certificate was a real life threat. So yes, we let fucking Indians issue literally 60 million worldwide trust certificates using the number 4 as one of the private keys, easily allowing any 12-year old leet haxxor to root hack your home PC, web server, or even your Alexa speaker, in seconds. Once those keys were reverse-engineered the entire worldwide TLS chain was compromised. The big players like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft patched this in hours but again millions of unattended web servers (mostly Linux) need updating, and even worse the IoT like smart fridges and streaming TV are vulnerable too because lmao built-in cert lists. Unlike computers there's no easy way to patch a lot of these appliances, especially small Chinese things like smart plugs and speakers, so all of them are potentially vulnerable forever. The only good note about this is that Emudhra lost 40% of its stock value in 48 hours, is now "exiting the industry", and the entire tech world now no longer trusts India further than they can fling loo poo. Good fucking riddance.

However during the trip the two of them begin to catch feelings for each other as they share experiences and get to know each other better. When they finally reach the town and catch a break the torena realizes just how much endurance, speed, and grit MC uma had and so asks if she would like to leave the uma4hire life behind and become his trainee. >>65604714Some on /g/ say it would explain some of the otherwise unexplained customer hacking attacks BoA has suffered recently. Also, the non-tech suits running the bank figured "their qualifications look good, CA certified issuer, all current quals, all the numbers are in order, don't ask questions and just use product" like they always do. No concept of double checking or auditing, especially since it's your money and not theirs. Besides, like all management they probably figured if something went wrong they'd just sue. Well, Emudhra's stock is rapidly going towards a big fat 0 at the maximum 20% daily drop the Indian stock exchange allows, so BoA can join the rest of the creditors at the bankruptcy court hearings. Nobody's getting any lawsuit money out of that mess, good case or no.One of the bigger ironies I've seen is that the biggest mockers of Emudhra outside of /g/ are Indian IT industry redditors incensed that Emudhra has caused lethal amounts of national Izzat loss. With that kind of mentality governing basically the entire nation it's no wonder nothing ever gets better around there, the few times the governments actually tried cleaning up the slums the pushback from the general population was insane. The only time izzat culture lost to a politician's sanitation campaign in one specific city was when the filth got so bad a plague threatened to wipe out the entire city, like you said, it would take the risk of total genocide to actually get pajeets to finally start acting like humans.Seriously, once you understand the basics of izzat, everything about why Indians are like this clicks.

>>65605380Apparently anybody IT qualified is working 24 hour days to try and fix all the broken PHP shit. Millions of servers running fucked obsolete PHP builds have to be not only upgraded/patched, as it turns out a fair lot of these companies never updated their web apps or critical software to run on the latest PHP build so all that shit has to be recoded from scratch. There's also massive stress from management/clients to get all this done RIGHT NOW even though that's absolutely impossible, with escalating threats towards IT staff from upstairs to somehow force them to do years of work in mere hours. Your friend will likely be working 20+ hour days for weeks or even months. The SAAAAARtificates thing got patched quickly at the web interface level, so it's not really a problem for organized IT departments/staff now. The real problem with those are personal Linux machines (whose owners should be nerdy enough to apply one of the many available certificate update patches) and the much worse issue of IoT smart devices. So many normies have smart appliances, web-enabled security/nanny cams, and even smart power plugs all over their houses that are vulnerable because lmao built-in SAAAARtificate lists with no actual way to update them. All it takes is for one device to be breached and a determined/AI assisted hacker can open up your entire home network, especially if it's set up by a normie "tech" who just plugs and plays without changing IoT passwords from the default PASSWORD1 or ABC123. My response is to unplug all your smart shit until it's either fixed by a manufacturer update (lmao if it's Chinese), or in the case of Chinese shit that can't be updated, take it to the range and use it as a target. Make sure it's blown apart and whatever ROM/RAM chips are inside get a direct hit so no user data remains.
