I've always been one of those trannies (or, at the time, reppers) that went "oh yeah I don't really have that much dysphoria" but after introspection and time I realized I did and I was really suppressing how much I hated myself and how much of that was due to being male. Nonetheless, my dysphoria was fairly basic and oftentimes I could take my mind off of it by watching something or working on something, and I also depersonalized a lot to the point that I completely could not identify the thing in the mirror as "me" to any meaningful extent. The realization that this was part of and connected to dysphoria is in large part what convinced me I wasn't faketrans and got me to start hrt.It's been a few months and after an initial period of doubting myself and briefly becoming the most gender essentialist person on earth I am pretty confident that I'm doing the right thing and I have to be a woman, but with this a dread has been growing that has started exploding out. I feel so unbelievably wrong in my body and if I'm not numbing myself three ways at a time I can't think about anything except how wrong it feels to have these long arms and this big ribcage and this horrible horrible jaw. I couldn't stop crying for hours last night because I felt so completely trapped within myself, like I was violating and raping myself with my own body. I often felt, as a sort of defense mechanism probably, that I was an un-embodied substance made primarily of experience that was just unfortunately and temporarily tied to a body, the details of which were mostly superfluous. More and more this dualism is crashing down and I feel completely like my own body--which is, in part, what I wanted from transition--but I feel it in the worst and most agonizing way. I genuinely wonder if it'd be better to remain emotionally stunted on testosterone (dropped from ~1,000 ng/dL to ~20!) than experience this hell. It probably gets better.I'd love to hear other's experiences to know I'm not alone.
