When I started my transition I basically told myself:

It helps a lot to set realistic expectations, it also helps to understand that other people (cis people, mostly) WILL have unrealistic expectations and will find you disgusting if you don't meet those expectations (hence boymoding until I pass, because cis people WILL expect me to pass no matter what stage of my transition I'm in when they find out I'm trans and will be disturbed if I don't).

Like yeah, I could just not care if other people find me gross to look at for a couple of years and go full hon mode, but that seems like way more trouble than it's worth.
