If a court says discrimination against gays is permissible, regardless of whether that's over a cake, a job,an adoption placement, a house, or something else, people who have already been discriminating against gays will use that as a shield to keep doing. The function of a court is to provide justice for those too weak to physically fight back against persecution. A court that pretends persecution doesn't exist because it quietly likes that persecution is not really a court, it's just a mouthpiece of religious fascism at that point. But yeah, courts here, or anywhere, have never really stepped up and said, no, you really cannot discriminate against gays even if you are religious. I mean Sweden and Denmark have in theory, but I doubt that's enforced.
