Ive heard the no sole shoes activate lower legs more than upper so I assume thicker sole will activate upper legs more. Maybe even get tiny heel with all your shoes as they allegedly make ass look better so I assume they engage the muscle. This is the only help I can think of. Sorry.

do lifts that specifically target the glutes so your quads/hamstrings wont take over as much

had the same problem before i figured out the right form with the legs. worthless exercise for me because i refuse to go to the gym tho, thank you for the disclaimer that its useless without weights because many gloss over this.
