To this day I still think they only pulled her because they knew they were trying to make nupersona and that's exactly what her style is. But her actual conceptual facial anatomy is really poor for a character designer. The face that she draws have zero depth or expressiveness and basically the only work that she makes that is technically impressive is stuff that has the face excluded. So she was a horrible option for sprite design with the exception that her art would appeal to persona fujoshis because the style is recognizant. That's the only visual appeal. The color palettes are also just not very visually appealing either. I don't know if she was kneecaped because I do think she can do better work than this though. One of her art pieces that I think is actually good attached. They don't let her use any of the things that make her art style appealing in three houses at all. Completely kneecapped. Even with her best work, she's still relatively mid for a Japanese artist because their culture is so art-focused desu. You could have hired some random twitter doujinshi artist and they'd do better concept work.
It sucks because they didn't let her do the things that are good about her work for the sprites at all and that's everything that was visually appealing. They went for a thick outlines and a weird 3dized style when they should have given her more artistic liberties like they did for the awakening and shadows of valentia sprite artists. Even if her base designs aren't very good if they let her utilize thinner linework and didn't try to make everything stylistically identical to the 3d models it wouldn't have ended up as ugly.

Idk. Japan is so condensed full of good artists. I don't know if maybe she's good at extreme amounts of volume or something and that's why they had her do the sprites but it's one of the things I'm most autistic about. After studying art more I can finally label what I don't like about it and it's weird because I've spent years just saying "why is this so visually unappealing to me" or thinking it's just because it looks like persona art but traced but now that I know the language, I can kind of determine that. There's a lot of things that are actually functionally wrong with it and it's not just a subjective thing
