In the last thread I saw saw someone saying they had trouble ordering from Astrovials. Would it be wise to order from her? I know I might have to wait from my order to be shipped and that's fine with me, I'm just worried about other sites going down lately and the situation with otokonoko.

Question regarding progesterone

I keep reading people saying "Switching from estrogen to prog" but I thought you were meant to take both at the same time and prog was just an extra thing on top of it.
In the case where I do monoE I'd need to look into taking some sort of AA if I were to do said switch, if it's a thing, right?
>>
did i fuck something up? i've been on mono EV 6mg/5 days for 2 months now but i've seen no change at all
>>
>>37444854
there is no switch, both at same time, get the bioidentical kind not the kind that starts with methyl or something, stick it up your ass, dosage of 200mg a day or lower, based on vibes
>>
>>37444854
Yeah you take both at the same time. If you take it orally you might want to look into fin or dut because it might convert into dht.
>>
>>37445237
are you getting your levels tested? get your levels tested
have you literally been on HRT for only 2 months?
>>
>>37445518

>>
>>37445237
I'm not an expert on this, but what are your levels? If you haven't taken a blood test yet I'd suggest doing it asap if possible. But keep in mind that 2 months isn't nearly enough to see any significant changes.

small like 'tear', idk what else to call it, in the stopper on my vial. it's not closing up, noticed it like a month ago. there's nothing actually in the vial and i use tiny fixed needles so seems unlikely i cored it but what do we think? is it fucked? it's still mostly full so throwing it out would suck :/

>>37446053
Yeah
>>
>>37446063
Then why would anyone take it orally then
>>
>>37445839
it's fine, this happens if you use a needle with too low gauge
my problem with this is all the contents have been pouring out when i've taken it in my carry on for flights, but just don't do that and you should be good
>>
Will it be more difficult to lose stomach fat when I get on HRT in 17 days from now?

maybe, maybe not, the only answer you need is that it's always better to get on it ASAP

is astrovials good now ? I saw that yellow vial / cooked oil incident from a few months ago, and also that problem with concentration on /r/transdiy like 3 mo ago. But now everyone seems to be recommending them ?

How long does it usually take Otokonoko Pharmacy to ship? It's been about two weeks since the confirmation message, is that normal or should I reach out to her?

>>37447103
way too high, you're wasting alot of E. it won't really harm you but you can dial it down by over half

can someone give me a rundown of the different types of estrogen injection solutions? i've always used valerate cause that's what i was prescribed, but i'm gonna be on diy again for a bit and i've heard valerate is worse for consistent levels due to shorter half life? wondering if one of the other solutions would be better (temporarily anyway, they'll just put me back on EV later when i'm insured again) or if it doesn't matter
>>
>>37447215
thats normal, i think depending on what part of the shipping cycle she is in, she will take longer or shorter to ship your order.
generally i'd say 3 weeks is the average, sometimes shorter sometimes longer, so i'd expect your confirmation to come soon.
i've never had her miss an order of mine in my 1.5yrs of buying from her

I recently started an increased dose from 127 pg/mL, a second .1mg patch, and I’ve been freaking out the last few days because I’m so so so so so scared of getting a blood clot. Every little feeling I have, I worry it’s a blood clot, and I worry about it traveling to my brain or lungs or heart. I don’t know what to do, I can’t handle this. I feel like I’m going to die. Please, someone help. Estrogen in the 200 pg/mL range has about the same risk of blood clotting as birth control, right? That’s not that bad. Are blood clots common on this sorta stuff? I mean, I eat very healthy and exercise and stuff. Sure, I sit a lot to play games and read and stuff, and I’ll be sitting a lot more when I start college. I dont know what to do. Please help me. I dont know what to think about all this. I’m scared, and I don’t even know if I should be scared.
>>
>>37449341
cypo or eth is better. cypo has a good enough half life for a full between injections without crazy difference between peak and trough. eth is even more steady to the point you can do injections every 10 days. I take a blocker but follow mono-therapy guidelines now so my estradiol is always above 250pg/ml.

how long does teahrt usually take to restock?
everything's listed as out, but there's a notice on the site "just taking a break for a couple days, see you october 1st." is that normal for her, like should i expect to be able to order next week, or should i go ahead and buy from another supplier this time?

i've been going on 300-400 pg/mL at trough (don't measure my peaks but they would be like 800 or something) for years, and i'm still living.
with injections it's bioidentical hormone directly into your body, the blood clot risk is equivalent to that of a cis woman with equivalent estrogen levels. and 200 isn't high

Thank you for not just calling me stupid. I know I'm stupid and am afraid of dumb stuff. My friend even told me that she's on birth control, vapes, smokes weed, and eats fast food and is still healthy and has no blood clots, so I feel like I'm doubly retarded for not listening to her. Anyway, it's nice to hear some actual anecdotes from people with higher estrogen. I just know from reading papers that it's got a risk, albeit a very tiny one. I think, realistically speaking, those numbers aren't necessarily representative of reality.
>>
>>37455409
yeah some people just want to be lazy and tell everyone to go google it, which like it's fine to google it too, but questions like that are also exactly what this thread is for! and it takes just as much time to call you stupid as to say something actually helpful lol.
but no you're not a retard, you're looking at side effects and being careful with your health and literal life, that's being smart. just gotta not let it paralyze you. blood clots are scary but as long as you keep active (especially getting on your feet a decent amount each day; most common clot risk is sitting too much and clots forming in legs then detaching and going someplace dangerous) then you're likely gonna be fine. know the symptoms of DVT and SVT and if you see a risk ask your doctors. and ofc when you get old keep a closer eye. and don't smoke (advice i should take oops). but yeah main point, just be aware, and then you can use that information as a source of confidence to not hondose yourself or live in a state of fear about it.
>>
>>37454694
bumping this question with a graph and clearer question.
is this a good dosage adjustment for switching from 12mg EV weekly?
i always measure at trough and i think i've basically been wayyy overdosing my E for years attempting to keep trough high, but it looks like with EC i can retain those levels with half the dose and much less insane peaks?
300-400 is a good range right, that's not gonna be hondosing myself? cutting the dose in half like that worries me

>>
>>37455662
But is it worth being scared of? I'm getting mixed messages, because firstly I was told that these people are very high estrogen and are fine, but now I'm being told to keep an eye on it as if it actually IS something I'm in danger of.
>>
>>37457213
it's like heart attack and stroke risk, or signs of bad infections. everyone should be aware of the symptoms. for clots, especially women and older people, moreso those with additional risk factors like smoking, sedentary lifestyle, high estrogen is just one other risk factor on the list.
it's something you should have been back-of-the-mind keeping an eye out for anyway, basically. no moreso than other women, it's just one of those things
>>
>>37457213
well to clarify strokes are caused by clots
but signs of a stroke and signs of a clot are different, stroke is a 911 situation, clot forming is a go straight to the doctor and fix it before a 911 situation
but all of this is stuff everyone should know, and also stuff you shouldn't let become a constant anxiety. find that balance, like i said before use the medical knowledge as a source of confidence that you're fine, cause probably that's gonna be true for the normal human amount of time.
oh also speaking of medical knowledge, learn proper technique for the heimlich and cpr. you may never need it, but if you do you could save a life. it's been relevant to me and i don't even wanna think about what would've happened if i hadn't known it
>>
>>37457303
>high estrogen is just one other risk factor on the list
So I'm in danger, then?
>>
>>37457374
if you take a proper dosage, you're in no more danger than a normal adult woman.
if you take too much, you're at a slightly elevated risk, probably less than most pregnant women. you'd have to take wayyy too much hrt to exceed the levels in a pregnant woman's body for months at a time. and if you're monitoring your levels you should never get anywhere near that risk.
i replied to you above that i've had trough 300-400 for years and have been fine. i am gonna lower my dose i think, but like i fucked this up for 7 years without it killing me, there's leeway here.
objectively the biggest risks for clots are age smoking obesity and sitting too much. E is distantly behind those.
>am i at elevated risk
yes
>am i in danger
that's a subjective personal judgement, but you should be able to see by now why most of us (and all cis women lol) decide E isn't enough of a danger to remove it from our bodies
>>
>>37457458
Is 200 pg/mL considered a proper dose? I'm on patches, so I don't really have a trough, that's just what my estrogen should be at constantly, more or less. I've read on Transfem Science that it's got about the same risk as a combined birth control pill. That's not really dangerous at all. So... I shouldn't be worried, right? Is it just that women naturally have a higher risk of blood clots than men, so of course I'm gonna be more at risk if I literally become one? I mean, I don't really get it. I feel like I'm trying to convince myself that I'm safe when I, by definition, have an elevated risk, which is NOT a good thing. I should not have an elevated risk.
Also, how much sitting is too much sitting? I mean, I'll sit for a few hours at a time most of the day, but I get up plenty. I also do yoga daily and want to start jogging. Is that ok?
>>
>>37457374
danger is a larp but you shouldn't be on high E all the time
i was overdosing 12mg EEn for like 5 months before switching to 4mg
high E increases shbg which may or may not result in E being less effective
>>

>>
>>37457844
dunno how patches are like but you should aim for 200-350 pg/ml E at trough
>>
>>37457867 -> >>37457889
if you can supress your T at 200 pg/ml then you're golden
you should aim for the lowest dose possible but something like 350 is still okay

if you're curious, these r my bloods at 4th month
10-12 mg/10 EEn days
T 25,65 ng/dl E 677 pg/ml

and 6th month
and 4mg / week EEn
T 14,8 ng/dl E 359,75 pg/ml

less E somehow resulted in less T than before (i assume it might be because i've been longer on E, still weird)
i wanted to aim lower than 360 pg/ml but i'm 17 bmi and estradiol calculators don't apply to me
>>
>>37458095
odd, i wonder if i'll see similar. my T is pretty nuked either way though, 12mg EV had it at 7ng/dL at last draw i think. i am gonna switch to 6mg EC and see if that keeps it down but i could probably cut dose further than that too

>>37458828

>>
>>37459004
i am 100% sure this guidance is a result of people practicing bad med storage and use, with unclean draw needles or vials sitting out on tables collecting dust.
i've never had an issue using vials for months at a time. as long as the needle you draw with goes in clean (right out of the package and swabbed imo, & swab vial top), and you don't brutalize the stopper or leave vials sitting out, you should be fine until it runs out

>>
>>37459910

>elevated risk
elevated relative to what?
>elevated risk relative to a cis man otherwise the same in body composition and lifestyle
yes
>elevated risk relative to a cis woman otherwise the same in body composition in life style
no
>elevated risk relative to any other random person
unknowable
>>
>>37459217
Where do you store vials?
>>
Is this hondosing? (It took me 2 mg to reach those levels and I've been doing it for 11 months after lowering them progressively for 4 months cause they skyrocketed at 222 pg/ml for the first 2 months (total time on hrt 18 months, not much has happened)
I now switched to 4 mg each 7 days and it reaches 150 pg/ml again, may go for an even higher dosage idk
>>
>>37459989
i keep the cardboard boxes they come in, drop them in and close the box, then put it in the cabinet next to where i keep the box of needles and the sharps container

https://transfemscience.org/articles/vte-transfem-analysis/
>In terms of higher estradiol levels delivered non-orally, the estimated 2-fold increase in risk of blood clots with estradiol levels of approximately 300 to 500 pg/mL (Sam, 2020) is notably lower than the average 4-fold increase in risk with widely used EE-containing birth control pills.
>Based on the usefulness of these levels for suppressing testosterone production and the widespread usage of EE-based birth control in cisgender women throughout the world, the degree of blood clot risk with high-dose non-oral estradiol, in reasonable amounts, could be considered therapeutically acceptable in transfeminine people (Haupt et al., 2020).
So, here it lists risky levels (albeit less than birth control) as 300 to 500, which is not what I'm at nor will I be there on a second patch. Most likely 200 at least.
What I wonder is where you get the idea that I have no elevated risk compared to a woman. Because, to be honest, I'm ok with a higher risk as long as it's like a woman's, because I would already have that anyway. I have a higher risk of breast cancer, too, because I have boobs now.
>>
>>37460114
you should have no elevated risk compared to a woman with the same estrogen level as you, because it's bioidentical, it's the exact same chemical right to the blood without adding strain anywhere else in your body to absorb and process it first.
and research seems to hold that out. 300-500 is a bit abnormally high as a consistent level for a cis woman, so cis women with that much estrogen in their blood would probably experience the same risk elevation if we tested for that comparison.
there doesn't seem to be any reason to believe it's because it's a cross-sex shift in the hormone profile, just a raw numbers question of how much E can safely go in human blood per body mass
>>
>>37460156
200 pg/mL is not physiological levels, though. That's slightly above physiological levels, thus the risk involved. Unless I'm wrong. That paper's chart lists 200 micrograms transdermal (my dose) as "high." However, there at the bottom, it lists 300-500, so I'm a little confused.
Also, that's the wrong link. I'm sorry: https://transfemscience.org/articles/estrogens-blood-clots/
>>
>>37460230
>>37460156
Hmmm, well, maybe you're right. It says that 100 microgram patches typically yield 100 pg/mL of estrogen. That means that my levels are likely around 227, which is on the high side of physiological levels. Is that a fair thing to think? Just because 200 micrograms is listed as a high dose doesn't exactly mean that it will result in supraphysiological levels. I suppose you begin getting into danger territory when you get closer to 300 and above, right? I'm not sure if I'm reading it all correctly.
I'm starting to feel less scared, though I'm not 100% able to let my guard down right now.

Patches don’t have a trough, do they? I mean they’re designed to be constant, right? When would I want to get my tests done? >>
>>37468908
good to hear, thank you verifieranon! <3
>>
>>37470886
what are you screeching about? hrt q&a will always be a little slower than the rest of the board, most people don't need it often. and board is slow at baseline cause the site is dying

ymmv but E craters very fast (half life charts will show you), then a monthish or a couple months of low hormone fog, then if you haven't had orchi T will start to reassert itself. the first things you notice, as with starting hrt, will be skin and hair. any peach fuzzy hairs you pluck or shave will start coming back darker. fat will redistribute off your breasts and hips to your stomach and thighs, your face will lose fat too, and your biceps and shoulders and calves will bulk out a bit with no effort. you'll probably also start to feel ragier and hornier from T shooting up. only W, you can eat more without gaining weight again (to a limit of course) which may help you cope with no hrt emotionally. and the natural T muscle bulk may also tighten your waistline (especially if you didn't have much fat to move to the stomach in the first place).

It says out of stock, I hope she isn’t, I was feeling so much tangible regret.

hello chaps. i have started hrt as of about a week ago (week ago). i'm pretty happy with this development, but ever since starting hormones my acne has been going insane-o mode. now, i've always had acne ever since i was a teenager, but it's usually fairly chill, really only a couple pimples here and there. however they have now EXPLODED in number and they are way more inflamed and painful than usual. did this happen to anyone else? is this normal? when can i expect it to calm down? please help gang
taking 2mg estradiol and 100mg spiro daily currently btw
>>
>>37472134
thats an awful dose. its probably not even doing anything, where did you get it from?
>>
>>37472211
a local doctor who my therapist referred me to. his whole gimmick is he only treats trans people, hence my blind faith in him. is it really that dire anon? i thought it was only low because i'm just starting out
i know spiro is used for acne treatment which is why i'm confused at how it's getting worse
>>
>>37472395
yeah... thats bad, you should diy instead. thats basically a standard placebo hondose

well the good news at least is i looked it up, and it probably isn't the hormones' fault i'm getting acne, but most likely the steroids i'm taking for crohn's disease
i'm going to have a lot of things to talk about with my doctors soon...
>>
>>37472511
well, wikipedia says they usually only give you those steroids at first when they first diagnose you to improve symptoms. but i would talk about your hrt dosages at the very least
>>
>>37472622
yeah... it just sucks because i already hate my body and having worse acne is not helping at all
but i shouldn't stress about it because that makes it even worse
>>
>>37466531
yea most of the bodily changes happen, white not as much as I hoped everything is fine. I'm a little more depressed than usual so maybe there is some merit to lowering my dosage
>>
>>37446695
AV has been perfectly fine for me, been using their EEn for almost 4 months now and works perfectly fine, no discoloration of the oil either
>>
Progesterone monotherapy?
Body is generally unhealthy and I've read a lot of Ray Peat. Has anyone done something similar?

I think I have a mild allergy to benzoate alcohol, I inject SC on my thigh and everytime I’ve done it I’ve felt sore for the next couple of days
What do I do, I don’t want to be sore for the rest of my life
>>
>>37475345
ask your doctor about it, idk if you diy
>>
>>37475358
Worthless reply
>>
>>37475345
if you're brave enough i think injecting IM avoids the allergic reaction
>>
>>37470886
>THE HONS WERE THE ONLY SMART ONES REEEEE
too true
luckshits are retarded and know nothing
>>
>almost standard practice in British private trans healthcare organisations for psychologists to order the patient’s dosage be limited to an almost placebo level until they’re satisfied with the progress of the patient’s social transition. This practice is completely unprecedented internationally, completely unfounded in evidence, rejected by WPATH internally and largely regarded as an attempt to appease transphobes espousing the Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria conspiracy theory.
