I got VFS in like mid 2024 and I was really sad at first because I thought it failed, I didn't sound female.

Then I visited family in Portland in early December because I was planning to move there at the start of 2025 (The move went well and I now live here), and I figured, fuck it, nobody in Portland of all places is gonna care about the fagvoice, might as well let it out.

But the weirdest thing happened - with the fagvoice, I started getting gendered female consistently on the phone, by strangers. People called me "miss", "girlie", "lady", etc., and when I discussed details of my move using my deadname, people assumed "Deadname" must be my boyfriend / husband and I'm just calling / answering for him.

I guess I pass now? But its not like I wear dresses or makeup or anything. Am I still a boymoder? I don't know. picrel is what I look like.

Even got surgery and was convinced it failed before I figured it out. Here's what finally worked for me:

The back of your tongue is connected to your larynx. You can visualize this by looking in the mirror and sticking your tongue out at yourself - your larynx will rise.
So, in order to achieve proper resonance, you need to control the posture of your tongue, really, not your throat.
Now, try keeping the tip of your tongue touching the back of your bottom row of teeth, but try to move the back of your tongue as close to your top front incisors as possible.

I'm doing fine, myself, but I needed a few years (and probably one or two more) to graduate college (check), get a job in my field (check), and build up a nest egg, so I can move out (WIP). I live in the most conservative county in my entire state (they have big trump parade floats every week without fail), have parents and kinda-friends that hate trans people, and I have/had things tethering me to the area (in addition to college).
And you know what's crazy? I don't have it bad at all compared to many. My parents aren't going to literally kill me if I get outted. I probably won't lose my job (not 100% on that...). If I came out as *just* gay, I might even be accepted. There's so many others here in infinitely worse situations. I don't think I'm pathetic to boymode as I have, and I think it's especially insulting towards those people in worse situations who can't come out without fear for their physical safety.
