i get most would just say oh because it’d be for you and make you feel better but like i don’t wanna have to go get a new birth certificate, new ids, new bank card and change all my info for essentially nothing. seems like a waste. is there any actual benefit to this that would help me in the long run
Some people (say, Doctors) are the type to take your license verbatim. You could be passing all day just to get misgendered because a doctor or police officer took your license too serious. However if your name is already gender neutral, or a chronic shut-in, you'll be safe from this.
>>38521261it kinda depends on where you live but some countries/territories are set up in a way where your legal stuff follows you everywhere. not having my name and sex changed in the last country i lived in meant outing myself to every new employer and every time i went to the doctor or pharmacy, mainly because of insurance details. it just got exhausting and sometimes led to me experiencing transphobia where i wouldn't have otherwise. even apart from that it's just draining always needing to have a conversation with the cis HR foid or the GP's receptionist about being a tranny. the country i live in now has no record of my transition, my ID number is an afab one and it's attached to my female name and i find it's a huge weight off my shoulders, i haven't had to talk about being a tranny once since moving.
>>38521284yup i thought as much. thanks
