you sounded out of breath by the end of this recording were you forgetting when to breathe? this happens to me sometimes when i'm nervous...if not nerves, though, that might also be something to work on.
very cool to have an exercise buddy though!!!!! i wish i had someone like that. i wonder if you'll be doing the same thing i am now lol
>>42284703
oh good! i really liked that recording :) speak however you're comfortable, but i wanted to say that i thought you sounded great there and that if you wanted to you could definitely have a lower voice...i think you may have been pushing just a tad too low and it sounded slightly forced but it sounded easy for you and i liked it a lot. as you were talking about "modify[ing the voice] downward" i thought you sounded best, particularly, i think, at the first syllable of "modify". just food for thought, i suppose.

it took me a minute to find, but we used to have a pasta for resources. last thread (>>42206600) was also very successful and may be worth perusing, if you have the time.
here are some other links which have been floating around lately:
http://lena.kiev.ua/voice/ (this is probably what you want right this moment)
https://sys.4chan.org/derefer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbuymeacoffee.com%2Falyssavt%2Fno-explanations-instructions-feminizing (i still haven't read through this one but i keep posting it.....le sigh..if you read it tell me whether it's any good i've got to go to work)
https://wiki.sumianvoice.com/wiki/pages/voice-examples/ (this one is for imitation, i think; i have checked it but not too closely)
what you will first want to do is learn how to manipulate your larynx, which is described by Lena above and in some resources below. big dog, small dog, and swallow-and-hold are two easy methods for just starting out.

i ran out of characters, but i also recommend to literally everyone that you should be singing!!!!! it is not targeted practice and thus will take longer than using these resources and trying specific things, but singing will teach you, by its very nature, everything you need to know about your voice, just by the simple act of your doing it. i can't be too wordy now because i do have to go to work but my favorite stuff to sing, and what worked, accidentally, for me many years ago was post-hardcore music. please, please be careful, though, that if you choose to scream you do so SAFELY. this is something you absolutely should look for specific and detailed tutorials on. but the high vocals of post-hardcore music are actually mostly produced through the same sorts of techniques you'll want to use for voice-training.

i am also scared of the gym hence my never having gone..it helps that the one at my firehouse is a little more private; i was all alone for like an hour and a half in there.
anyhow you sound great honestly :) it sounds like it could be a tad strained, like you are either pushing yourself too high or trying to speak quietly, but you have great resonance and you are remarkably non-nasal which is very lucky or very skilled of you. good job nona.
>>42290117
correct! you are a little nasal i think but that is the only problem i hear. i don't know if i really have advice for speaking loudly, but theoretically your volume should come more from below (breath support) than your vocal tract proper, so you should be able to speak however loudly you would like without issue. theoretically. idk if that is useful at all but maybe it helps clear a mental block or something idk..
>>42290150
true!!!!!!!! you do sound great :) definitely keep yourself in practice so that you can get used to it but i hear almost nothing to criticize here, aside from a slight nasality which is only to a degree such as i sometimes hear in cis women's voices anyways. ygmi nona good luck at your job :)
>>42290742
no...i'm sorry. i'm a luckshit, i think :( the advice i give to most people is to speak as naturally as possible (so basically focus on resonance and let pitch sit where it will) although i am beginning to think this is sort of ignorant. if it works for you, though, that's pretty much my whole voice.
>>42290923
breathy but you do not sound like a guy at all lol. brainworms. you're also a bit monotone but that's not really a clocky thing; just something you could work on if you care to. it is, in fact, going well ;p

1/2.....
>>
..........2/2

>>42291062
as was said by the other anon it is difficult to feel confident in judging this, but you sound like you are doing alright. your resonance may be slightly low, and i think you might be a little nasal. not bad at all, though :)
>>42291160

i believe it is just a matter of practice. my memory is poorer than that of any goldfish but i recall when i was really focused on voice-training years ago i eventually became so accustomed to it that it became my resting voice for a while. you've sort of just got to use it aaallllllllll the time. it's muscle-memory.

time and ease are positively correlated, nona :) you will get there. i don't hear a rasp, personally, so much as nasality. working on relaxing your throat is a good general goal, so if you feel you're too constricted that might be something to start with. it will give you endurance, too.

>>42295962
i don't think you should go into this planning to sound like a certain type of woman; sound like you!!!! the problem you have now is with resonance. raise it a little bit and see how you feel :) i think your accent is cool, by the way....it should not be an impediment.

if you know how to manipulate your larynx, raise it, physically. if not, >>42286908 >>42286944 here :) swallow-and-hold i think is the easiest demonstration of the concept because it's kind of impossible to not raise your larynx that way.

you certainly do not sound male at all so i suppose that means you pass :) i guess it's hard to say, though. it sounds like you are very breathy but idk if that is bc you are sick or if that is just how your voice is (in which case i would tell you to try giving your voice a little more resonance). in any case yes you do pass lol
>>
>>42296496
>(in which case i would tell you to try giving your voice a little more resonance).

you definitely are improving on the nasal front!! just work on finding a pitch that feels natural to you. it doesn't have to be particularly low or anything; i just meant that it did not need to be so high. it sounded a little like you were straining to reach the pitch you spoke at for the majority of this recording. but keep at it :) nasality is rough that is why like 99% of tranners have it to some degree lol
>SWALLOW AND HOLD FOR LONG DURATIONS[...]/////WILL///// CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE
real? anyhow you only really need to do it once to understand the concept and then move on to figuring it out for actual.
>>42297488
see above nona....you can't give up before you even try :( big dog, small dog is also good. i know this stuff is difficult and embarrassing but you will never get whither you want to be without practice. i haven't got a whole lot of time before work but if you want i will try to talk you through it. i might just be a little slow to respond

im feeling confused, im rewatching a resonance video and i think im doint my m's and ns right
>>
https://voca.ro/1mojhDKYE6X1

Anon here from last thread who people said sounded ftm pre transition, I am trying to avoid that kind of thing now. I think I was trying to add fullness by going lower or something.. I'm not sure.. I want to avoid sounding shrill and having too tinny of a register. Thank you for the feedback last thread. I might try a lower pitch Also I am curious what anons think about the question of accents I mention in the recording. Incase you don't listen but are curious, basically: if you come from an area like e.g. in my case the deep south, but you kind of cover up your accent, does that hurt your intuition around like gender cues or like affects / is it easier to pass in your native accent even if you cover it up normally? I don't really have an opinion on the question myself but I find it pretty interesting, because e.g. southern voices are not just changing the way they stress stuff but actually have v diff vocal characteristics e.g. heightened "nasality" or a brighter buzzier tone.
>>
>>42297747
well, i do not know what video you may be watching, and nb it is likely you actually know more about voice-training than i do, but /m/ and /n/ are both definitionally nasal consonants, which means that their sounds are produced by blocking the passage of air from the throat through the mouth and redirecting it up into the nose. i'm really not sure that it is possible to produce either sound without vibration in the nose. i would be very impressed if you could, lol. don't worry yourself about it, nona.

thanks and yeah, I think that's the main thing I have trouble with, not sounding so 'small', but to be honest I've always been a quiet speaker with my whole life everyone telling me I should speak up lmao, so it's hard to for me raise my volume while keeping the voice, but I really do need to try harder!
