I've also seen the opposite side of this issue. When I was new to the city I live in now, I went to a few bisexual support/social groups in the hopes of meeting more queers in the city. It was a casual meeting where people could meet and shoot the shit and get support. I was very disappointed to find out that the "bisexual" group was mostly just men who'd married straight women and then started to cheat with men after marriage got boring. Several had strongarmed their wives into accepting an open marriage because there were shared assets and kids. I think this is the source of "all the girls are bi now" trend. Women get to experiment with gender presentation and sexuality more liberally than men. And with the push for acceptance of lgbt stuff in the last 20ish years, a lot of people have reexamined their sexuality and realized things like, "well I would NEVER have sex with another man/woman, but sometimes they can be hot" and boom, suddenly they're bisexual on a technicality.
