You would know better than me, if you care to look at it. Lam is the only online source I would trust on the matter.

Let me know how his treatments are working and, like I said, it may take a few months. You might want to keep notes with your exercises, just brief observations that you can recite for him during appointments.

As always, keep in mind you might have even more options via Specialized Physical therapy, the Shroft technique and epidural injections. Pain management is, well, a pain to manage. But everyone eventually develops some challenges over long enough, so don't feel you bear such things alone. Thats another thing a tai chi class might offer, a sense of community and support, if you find a good one.

I guess I am grasping for solutions by managing Tai Chi, I am just trying to offer anything I can to uncover options for relief.

And I try to remember that everyone takes damage eventually, we just don't often see it, and its not always visible. I also like the pillow idea. I have all sorts of what I think are lesser issues, and just the other day I told my doctor that I stopped taking some pills because the pillows seemed to help more, redirect bloodflow to prevent symptoms. So do indeed play around with pillows, and different sizes and lofts. I have learned that no one pillow or position is the answer, but rather moving them from time to time, since keeping them in the same position for too long seems to be problematic also.

I wanted to expound a bit on tai chi a la Paul Lam. There is a lot of room here for me to miscommunicate, so I want to be clear.

For one, I didn't mean to sound like a race tard by suggesting your Chiro #2 must have some special knowledge about tai chi just because he is Asian. I just mean that its more culturally relevant there so he probably has more intuition about it than Westerners, especially since he is a chiropractor. I am listening to Lam rn talking about it for rehabilitation, hoping I can find the right intro for it. I also wanted to clarify what I mean by helping and my rationale, and dispel some tropes about tai chi.

Tai chi is considered a martial art, but people in the west confuse this with fighting because it attaches to martial arts which are usually viewed as combat. It is also looked at as exotic spirtual mumbo jumbo because a lot of larping Westerners do actually interpret it that way.

So to clarify, tai chi is a martial art in the sense that it *assists* other combat disciplines, not that it is one itself, in the same way that calisthenics help combat techniques, but is not one itself.

As for the spiritual interpretation, I just find it outdated, if poetic, like most matters of faith and philosophy. For example, the idea of "chi". Its a way of understanding an abstract, not a literal, physical thing. Its useful to think of as real to communicate a concept, but I am not suggesting there are actual invisible spirit forces involved.

Its a difficult thing to explain, because of what it really means in practice. Here is where it might help to explain what it symbolizes in discussion:
