Monsters, Dragons, Beasts, Creatures, Horrors, and Miscellaneous Lifeforms Edition Version 2: Magical and/or Alien BoogalooFAQ:>What is worldbuilding?Worldbuilding is the process of creating entire fictional worlds from scratch, all while considering the logistics of these worlds to make them as believable as possible. Worldbuilding asks questions about the setting of a world, and then answers them, often in great detail. Most people use it as a means of creating a setting or the scenery for a story.>"Isn't there a Worldbuilding general in >>>/tg/ already?"Yes, there is. However, that general is focused on the creation of fictional worlds for the intended purpose of playing TTRPG campaigns. Here you can discuss worldbuilding projects that are not meant to be used for a roleplaying setting, but for novels, videogames, or any other kind of creative project.>"Can I discuss the setting of my campaign here, though?"If you want to, but it would probably be better to discuss it on >>>/tg/ . We don't allow the discussion of TTRPG mechanics, however. If you want to discuss stats or which D&D edition is best, this is not the place.>"Can I talk about an existing fictional setting that is not mine?"Yes, of course you can!>"Does worldbuilding need to be about fantasy and elves?"Worldbuilding, as already stated above, and contrary to what many believe, does not inherently imply blatantly copying Tolkien. In fact, there are many science-fiction setting out there, and even entire alternative history settings which do not possess supernatural elements at all. Any kind of science fiction book has an implied setting at least, which involves a certain degree of worldbuilding put into it.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>25180591No I think they're directly generated by stars or decay of other elements, I might be wrong though. Many isotopes are super long lived which is why they're still around in the crust. I might be misremembering, don't take my word for it. >>25130237My setting is in a weird place between post apocalyptic and cyberpunk: Vaguely like the setting of Gibson's "Peripherals" but with ASI (that came and went) instead of cross parallel universe internet. What kind of psychological effects would growing up in a decaying, rapidly depopulating VERY high technology society have? I'm taking japan and some of the decaying rural towns in the US as inspiration but I can't think of many other parallels.
>>25180672*The Peripheral, not Peripherals
What is Warhammer's aesthetic called?
Heating Mars' poles to release stored carbon dioxide and putting up an artificial magnetosphere would be enough to make it habitable, right? Or am I missing something?
>>25180930Not even remotely. The soil is toxic, the frozen gases are less than a tenth of what's needed, and there's almost no water.Terraforming Mars is a waste of resources.
What makes something "deep"? Is this a subjective quality? Can everyone have a different and valid view of something that is deep? Does the term imply emotional or intellectual complexity? What are authors that are deep?
>>25179521Deep=density. >emotional density>informational densityTolkien=deepVladamir nabokov=deepBut in different waysSurface level=nothing more to it than meets the eye. Less thought put into it. Less emotion.
>>25179521I find a book deep when I can read and reread and constantly find new connections, new ways of thinking about it I hadn't though about on my previous read, new details I missed. So Finnegans Wake, Ulysses, Gravity's Rainbow, The Sound and the Fury, Moby-Dick and all that jazz. Though personally I find Finnegans Wake inaccessible without scuba diving gear and specialised training, I prefer more shallow waters, at least for now.
~25 years ago I opened a pack of baseball cards and that exact card was right on top. I was never into baseball cards or the like but they had those special limited edition cards which could be immediately resold for considerably more than you bought the pack for so you could buy something more interesting than baseball cards. It was pretty much scratch offs for people who were not old enough to buy scratch offs, but they were also a form of currency and could be traded for any number of things. Bill's card wasn't worth much but 8 year old me got a thrill out of 'fuck face,' I kept it in the playboy I had traded some cards for.
It's hard to define because anything you say about self reflection and emotional weight some fan of Rupi Kuar can say the same thing.
a deep or deep-er author is only bad, when they are *trying* (too) hard to BE deep.if they naturally have the vocabulary, the philosophy and emotional language to do it,as well as have something worth saying...it can be good or even great.its when they try to *force* it, it gets old quick.
Reading feminist literature about art:>"The pommel of his sword looks like a dick, and he's holding it as if he's masturbating".I swear feminists are like 14 year old horny male teenagers, but then they go to public and pretend they don't like sex.
>>25170363christians in general are known to do this. their number one symbol is a corpse nailed to wood
>>25171652it should be pretty obvious to anyone that's learned about Michelangelo that he was bisexual if not fully gay and his repressed lust for men was one of the inspirations for his artI mean>Pope asks him to paint the ceiling of the sistine chapel>Says no, it's too big and I'd rather spend time sculpting instead>Pope INSISTS>Michelangelo agrees to do it only if he gets to choose what to paint>proceeds to paint ignudi around every scene for no discernable thematic reason
>>25170180>>25179531By the way, in the same book she has a chapter on Michelangelo's David. And she's REEEEEEEEEEEIING over the fact Michaelangelo's David is not circumcised, he's gigantic and that his stature pagan influenced (muscular). In other words: That's actually "Goliath" in Disguise. In the eyes of jewish feminists, We are Goliath. They are David.
A reminder: You can download the stuff here and share it in discords and other boards. You may prevent abuse in the future if you do. (or at least ruin the reputation of feminists and prudes)

In literature class in high school, you got extra points for reading anything the lit teacher had on her big shelves.then you took a little test to prove you read all of it.all I have to do, is read books and prove i read them?to guarantee an A?so yeah I read Canticle.my thoughts mirror OP's thoughts.it was okay, but...I was waiting for it to really take off?never really did.at the very end, I'm scratching my head.the hell was even the point.all I could come up with...catholic religion, is old and less useful every passing year.seemed to be the only real theme.Comment too long. >>25180597I blame the hand women keep forcing in Achilles' life against his consent.Somehow because Achilles' loves men, women feel they have a kinship and can self-insert into his story??? I dont know the reason really. If women want to make a female version of Achilles a la Skyros, which then prompted the creation of plays in which women would act in his role then they would do better choosing a hero that even wants association to females in the first place so that kind of shit stain doesn't linger around my life.Good fucking lord Im sick of women and their sexuality. Such bad feelings all around.Youd understand if you were being sexually harassed by men.

A New Age of Politics is to come where force and strength reign. What books should I be reading to be amongst the dominant political force when the time comes? I have already read Evola, Jünger, Spengler, Hegel, Schmitt, Habermas, and I have also read Breker's own writing, which has galvanised me. But the clock is ticking and I do not feel ready. Also books on getting rid of homosexual feelings are highly requested. I have not seen anywhere where the Great Thinkers talk on how to get rid of such feelings so I am very lost
