Are there any good web-novels out there? Anything that isn't fantasy LitRPG/Isekai? Anything that values prose and ideas over stupid battle scenes and magic systems? I find the concept of a web-novel just the modern serialized format and there's got to be some nigga out there writing longform lit in this way.

I want to do this for my series because I don't want to restrict myself to word count limit in order to get trad-published. But every web-novel I see is poorly written and just plain awful. Is there no middle ground? Am I doomed to fail, not because of sheer length, but because it's not written like a video game? I was debating releasing a chapter (or two) a day because I was gonna write/edit the whole novel before posting it.

if you're writing overlong it isn't literature anyway. Perhaps you're too retarded to understand this but impactful stories are merely intricate metaphors, no GOOD metaphor requires fantastical settings or thousands of pages. Not to mention that the genre you're talking about is more focused on dialogue and "characters" (self insert LARPing and creating constructs to idolize/crush on) which are irrelevant in crafting a good metaphor, because the people in a story are not supposed to be real people but metaphors themselves. Even if you have "good prose", whatever you write is still going to be shit because fundamentally you don't understand what a story is, this is why shit like war and peace fails and don quixote is only relevant as a comedy.

Except I'm explicitly NOT writing fantasy, faggot. Please read the post.

Length and scope are just as important any other mechanic. War & Peace could not have been written as a short story. Your entire post reeks of projection. I suggest giving your mother a hug.

nope, sorry, doesn't matter. no one actually has 1000 pages to say. people only read war and peace despite its length. every page after 300 objectively makes a book worse. The only reason people write webnovels is to have a parasocial relationship with fictional characters, then of course you want it to last forever like fucking naruto or something. After episode 500 you're just repeating the same shit over and over.

Where would you read a web novel? Are there website communities or is it like webcomics where people own their individual domains?

And I don't want to read your dysgraphia. If an industry that's happy to publish pulp doorstoppers like Sanderson isn't accommodating enough that's a you problem.

I've tried to read dozens of web novels, dropped most either at the first paragraph or already at synopsis. 98% of these "writers" clearly never went to school, or read even one real book in their lives, and never learned even the most basic, primitive building blocks of a narrative.

The remaining 2% have the ability to express themselves in writing in a way that makes some sense, and had me read more than a chapter or two. But in the end, what they had to say was simply not one bit interesting, they failed to take their idea in any meaningful direction, or else they went full jew and removed their work from the net after putting it on amazon. fuck web novels.
