I'm looking for a book that is similar to Kino's Journey light novels where they travel to other lands with sometimes absurd things; maybe similar to Mushishi too.

>>23535374How are the Kino's Journey light novels, are they any good?
>>23535442Seconded, and by proxy also Baudolino by Umberto Eco (not my favourite of his, but some feel its his best)
>>23535442This seems difficult to find anywhere...
>>23535374Mardi by Herman Melville
>>23536930beat me to it. the characters of mardi travel to islands with strange laws seem absurd but also obviously parody things we do. very like kino.>>23535374gogol's "dead souls" also fits, but less so. our hero travels to the estates of different land owners and each has a different way of governing his serfs. to be clear though, i both prefer mardi overall and feel that it is a better fit for what you're requesting.
>>23536814You can find it by searching "The Travels of Marco Polo" by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform.
>>23535374The fifth book in the chronological reading of the Narnia series is the best example of this I can think of. Stephen King's Dark Tower series also fits that genre. (I haven't tead the Kino's journey light novels, though. I've only seen the early 2000s anime adaptation)
>>23535374Blood and oil in the orient. Its aboutthe authors boyhood adventures as a refugee traveling around the caucuses and middle east. Lots of fun descriptions of different tribal groups and customs
