>pick up a book
>read 20 pages
>novelty wears off so I drop the book
>pick up another book
>process repeats ad infinitum
Anybody else have this problem?
>>
>>23537500
put on an audiobook and read along
>>
>>23537500
You can't even get a feel for a book in twenty pages. The author hasn't even finished laying the groundwork at that point.
>>
>>23537500
what the fuck does "novelty wears off" even mean?
>>
>>23537591
It means he's unable to focus without the constant stimulation the internet has provided.
>>
>>23537500
Try not being a brain damaged zoomoid.
>>
>>23537500
just switch between the same two books
profit
>>
>>23537741
You don't understand. After the first 20 pages, I lose complete interest in the book. I never pick it up again even though I really wanna read it.
Books for this feel?

I understand perfectly well. Just give yourself time to miss it. Pick two books that are completely different. Shitpost on 4channel when you get bored. Gee, I can't help you if you won't help yourself.
>>
>>23537500
Read the bible with a determination to read it cover to cover. This will help you build the discipline for reading and maybe then you will give books a chance.
And what do you mean by novelty anyways? Do you just enjoy the idea of reading a book?
>>
>>23537751
Amphetamines.
>>
>>23537751
Maybe you just have to stop reading for a while, and then everything will return back to normal
>>
>>23537817
If he fried his brain with social media which I presume is the case simply quitting reading won't help. Rather quitting the Internet is the way to go.
>>
>>23537500
How can he be THIS smug when he is wearing THAT hat?
>>
>>23537757
Kek, this is the very book I am not reading because of terrible attention span
>>
>>23537886
you are not missing much
another advice, screw this 1000 books you must read before you die shit and read something that is relevant to your interests
>>
>>23538078
I was reading it for the second time. I love Calvino.
>>
>>23538091
to each their own, I guess?
but what novelty are you speaking of if you've read it before?
>>
>>23538105
No, I'm not OP. Novelty is no issue for me, The Idiot is one of my favorite books. I've just had my brain fried, probably by porn, (which I've quit)
>>
>>23538142
I don't really reread books unless it's dense nonfiction. My understanding is that people do it as a sort of comfort activity? But why would you be bored by your comfort activity?
For example I can barely stay focused for five minutes but if I have some important project to finish in a week I sudenly become very engrossed in whatever inconsequential book I am reading right now.
>>
>>23538192
I'm not bored. The problem for me is I'm not paying attention and have to reread multiple pages that my brain thought it was reading while retaining zero information.
>>
>>23537500
stop scrolling and read faster
>>
>>23538199
idk man
I don't do porn becuase it's a slippery slope
try... jogging while listening to classical music
sounds brain healing to me
>>
>>23538250
It's slippery poles too. Lots of them.
>>
>>23538250
I listen to classical music almost exclusively. I don't do cardio because I'm a lanklet trying to put on muscle.
>>
>>23538286
I would have said meditate or something but that's just gay and moving around is more fun
if it's something like information overload I personally think that it's something that modern humans will just have to learn to deal withbut you should really not watch porn
if you give yourself some time to live a quiet and healthy life you should be back to normal
>>
>>23538330
No, I never "reset" that is a lie
>>
>>23538331
Why not?
>>
>>23539176
Because it doesn't happen. I even am attracted to a twinky looking guy at my church. The reset is more broscience.
>>
>>23538286
cardio is good for leg development, respiratory health which will help you workout longer, cardiovascular health which I don't believe I should explain the benefits of. Do cardio lanklet.
>>
>>23537500
read short stories. Develop the ability to read & read critically
>>
>>23539298
Once I get to 200 pounds I'll work it in. Probably going back on Gomad again too.
>>
>>23539320
your call ultimately but I believe personally that cardio will only benefit you if you start doing it now. Gaining muscle takes time and adding the cardio now will only help build more lean mass which looks this best if you're trying to looksmax.
>>
>>23539428
Not, I am trying to submit to the curse in Genesis 3. I want a job doing hard labor, I don't care if I look fat or whatever.
>>
>>23539429
understandable, find comfort in the suffering.
>>
>>23537500
maybe try a book of short stories then?

my problem usually is:
>pick up a book
>devour it
>another
>devour it
>another
>devour it
>2 years without reading anything
>remember i can read
>pick up a book
...
>>
>>23539439
No, it's just because I'm schizophrenic and collect disability. I want to offset it with some grunt work though they will be paying me for said work anyway. Basically you go to this place at 4:30 I. The morning and the only qualification you need is boots with the triangle on them.
>>
>>23539429
>I want a job doing hard labor
Bruh
>>
>>23537500
