I finally got around to reading this and I was pleasantly surprised. I had heard that it was a much more interesting dystopia than the likes of Fahrenheit 451 and 1984, which I have read in the past, but the book itself is also much better written. The story was largely paced well for a start and it had the better marriage of world building and narrative. I also rather liked all the rapid perspective switches, interjections, and contrasts the book used, they really helped to convey what the characters were feeling. Don’t know why I made the thread to be honest. Discuss it I guess?

With the advent of modern, psychology and psychaitry, and the millions of mentall ilnesses, and the drugs for treating these various ilnesses, it seem far more realistic. Much in the same way the crucx of the book is that one drugs that makes you forget about your life and uphold the status quo.
