What's the most difficult to read fiction book you've ever read?
The Golden Bowl
>>23622029Proust’s ISOLT is likely the most verbose fiction book you will ever read. It is really straightforward but just written in a flowery way.

Definitely Finnegans Wake. Nothing else comes close, it's gibberish. There are also difficult, but approachable books. Ulysses, Pierre; or the Ambiguities, and Faust part 2.And there are also a few I know only by reputation: late Henry James (Ambassadors, Wings of the Dove, Golden Bowl), Thomas Pynchon, Arno Schmidt (Bottom's Dream), Carlos Fuentes (Terra Nostra).
