is every page of this supposed to be funny? I don't know when to laugh and when to not. It seems like some chapters are almost serious in a way or maybe they went right across my head. Some parts are clearly funny but then I am second guessing myself when I read through 1-2 pages and don't see anything that humorous. I need the author to tell me when to laugh. Maybe by underlining certain lines or putting arrows in the text

I read this twenty years ago and the entire book was funny except the part where that kid gets killed by a propeller.

The end of that chapter got me feelings feels I wasn't ready for.
You should laugh-cry 24/7, this is meant to be an anti-war propaganda book (or so says google).

It’s meant to be an emotional rollercoaster. It’s making fun of the absurdities of war while simultaneously showing you why it’s so fucked up.

my friend put this on in his car as an audiobook while we were on our way to a camping trip. we listened to the first half on the way up and were in stitches throughout. we hardly cracked a smile during the second half on the way back.
