What does "arguing in bad faith" mean and is it in any way related to Sartre? Are people just blowing wind whenever they say this?
You're using arguments you know are wrong or something, I don't read
It can mean being intentionally dishonest, such as feigning ignorance or pushing points that you know are wrong on principle for rhetorical reasons.For example, Holocaust deniers. You can show them the mass graves, the evidence. Some may silently accept that it happened, yet will still argue in bad faith that it didn't in order to advance a political goal.It is often the case with genocide denial. People don't deny genocide in order to get to the truth, it is an act of willful malice. A political power struggle, people deny genocide in order to disenfranchise the victims of genocide, like the Armenian genocide.

Sartre's definition can technically be extrapolated into some workable instance of 2 minds in one person, and one of the minds is exerting an inauthentic influence over the other mind.
