Are there any books on fog? I'm looking for books that focus on venturing into the unknown and characters feeling lost in alien environments.

Unironically the Tartar Steppe by Buzzati. One of the themes is fog and the allure of the north.

fog features prominantly in only the first chapter jack london's "the sea wolf". you may also enjoy this poem, "fog" carl sandburg.
>The fog comes
>on little cat feet.

>It sits looking
>over harbor and city
>on silent haunches
>and then moves on

It's not really "on" fog, but a large part of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest follows The Chief through real or imagined fogs; none of that made it into the film. Pic related has a phenomenal murder scene in a sauna; bit more of a stretch but it's a very good book, and that scene captures the panic of obscured vision really nicely.

The Miner by Soseki. It also has a fog scene.
