Post your handwriting.Also calligraphy thread.
Holy shit this one actually looks good

>>23807053This is mine b.
>>23807574>you share your board with fools who do not know cursiveno wonder these times are shit
>>23809001100 years from now some pseud faggot of the future would make a similar comment mocking people that string words and sentences together with their minds for not knowing how to type with their hands. >"erm, it's heckin' over guys. know one knows what QWERTY is anymore. I own a keyboard and type with my hands. you're all brutes and I'm heckin' sophisticated."
>>23809122>mocking people that string words and sentences together with their mindsI didn't articulate this well. I meant typing with their minds, not with their hands.
Calligraphy is so relaxing and chill I can put on some music and do it for hours. Been thinking about switching from copperplate to block since way less people do that. Anyone do both here?
>>23809129>know one knowsit's not too late to learn cursive. Don't hate it because you don't know it.
>>23809247I learned it in grade school but lost touch with it over time. my handwriting would be better if I wasn't given my own school mandated macbook air in like 7th grade. part and parcel of being a zoomer.
>>23809216I do broad edge. I really wanted to get into pointed pen stuff but I suck at it and could never get past the point where my practice sessions showed meaningful improvement.
>>23809590I found it easy. You just need a good nib and well-mixed ink. For me it was 90% using the right gear.
An example where I’m not trying very hard to look pleasing, in otherwords, my handwriting in its purest form.
>>23809622stop eating candies you're getting fat
>>23809622sorry for uploading sideways my mistake
>>23809626minä syön lakupalaa...
>>23807494kids see ghosts
>>23809590same. Plus I like medieval manuscripts and Latin palaeography has beautiful aesthetics
>>23809815sorry fags for horizontal
>>23809815Strangely readable, despite disliking your p, l and every Capital letters, I found your writing easy on the eye.You would also gain, imo, in writing bigger l, f, g, p d and t (you know, they're supposed to be big, take more space than common letters)
>>23810096>Strangely readableThat's because it is readable. Your crits suck. As long as a handwriting makes consistent choices it is valid.
>>23809001I know cursive I just never write in it
>>23807574are you left-handed?
Give me something to write in blackletter
Faggot thread
Coming through don't mind me
>>23814617Why is it so stretched out...?Your handwriting, I mean, not your rectum.
>>23814980Well I guess because I wrote it large for the pic, but also because that's just the style. Basically palmer business script
>>23814617Based
>>23814617>the angle of that 'T'I wanna die.
>>23815528Don't do it!
>>23815635I've never seen such an atrocious cursive "D".Your handwriting certainly has personality, at least.
>>23807053Are there any books for adults to improve their handwriting? I can't even write in cursive. My handwriting is atrocious and I hold a pen incorrectly and start from the bottom up, instead of top down. I remember my 4th grade teacher bitching at me about it, but it was never rectified.
>>23815845I'm almost 40 so I'm pretty much fine with just printing in all caps for the rest of my life, but hey, it'd be nice if I could quickly write notes or write someone a letter without being embarrassed
>>23815840I know you weren't planning to critique mine and not post your own>>23815845Google Palmer method workbook pdf. Your teacher was probably a dumb bitch anyway. Schools haven't taught proper penmanship in almost a century. They give you ugly alphabets and don't even bother to teach you to write with your arm, not fingers. They don't recommend any good drills, either. Nor do they explain the elements of lettering. Nor do they emphasize rhythm, and a million other things
>>23815866>Palmer Methodty bb, I think I googled this years.ago, but never followed through. I also had some scanned PDFs of books on penmanship from the late 1800s that were absolutely beautiful, but I suspect wouldn't have been of much use to me because I'm guessing the methods wouldn't transfer well to ballpoint pens. You think it's likely someone can go from chicken scratch to neat and legible with a year of practice and journaling?
>>23815880Dunno. Probably. The most important thing is to not write with the wrist or fingers. Training to write from the elbow and shoulder is the key to beautiful, sweeping lines.Don't overlook those scribble exercises that are just lines of concentric circles. Those circles, lines, etc are the fundamental engine that drives your writing, and represent the bound of how good your real script can look, in a way.Understand the formation of all letters are basically designed from deviations from a repetitive "scribble."Also pay attention to tempo, and rhythm. You know how you might be instructed to draw a letter in stroke 1,2,3, etc? Well you don't want to practice in a way that's training your muscle to slur strokes 2 and 3, etc. When you complete a stroke you can pause the pen indefinitely, and nobody will be able to tell, but the loop for instance is a SINGLE movement and needs to be executed as a single step. You can write with any pen, it doesn't matter. Some pens, like gel pens, are slicker than others and actually become hard to control, especially for a novice. Ballpoints have resistance which can be desireable. I also like the disposable zebra fountain pens you can buy. Write with anything. Also practice explicitly what you're bad at. Double letters like r's or f's are hard, so yes, practice them specifically. You know how i said a stroke is a stroke? Well after practice you can sort of neuromuscularly "concieve" of two letters at once. For an example of what NOT to do, look at my two g's in nigger. The second one got wonky (because actually i don't really practice or write anymore). So I'd probably want to drill that and regain my chops, if I cared to. Actually there's about 6 or 7 errors in my "Niggers tongue my anus" if I was being picky. Not paying attention the bottom line, midline, etc. Definitely know and respect the elements of a glyph, because consistency in that is what makes for good handwriting. That's all i can think of rn. There's a lot of good resources online nowadays.
