Has he written anything that isn't explicitly Islamic, or is there any good scholarship on his thought? His philosophy seems quite interesting from what little of it I know.
>>23816107So basically Khomeinist(?) literature that isn't explicitly Islamic. No issue if it's in Persian, I can get it translated by a friend.
>>23816110I dont think someone like Khomenei would have written anything that is not Islamic, I dont know of course, but these guys see/saw themselves as the vanguard of Islamic existence, especially these Shia men, who see themselves as martyrs already.
>>23816107Check out the book A Critical Introduction to Khomeini. Its the best book out there. It gives a good overview of his times, the development of his political theory, and his mysticism. I'm not sure what you mean by "isn't explicitly Islamic." Khomeini was trained in mystical philosophy, law, and religious scripture and those were the main things he wrote about. He wasn't a secular person. He did write a now lost commentary on Plato's Republic, letters to foreign dignitaries etc. but Khomeini did see Islam as an ideology akin to Marxism and liberalism, and thus for him everything was inflected through Islam. If you want other Iranian Islamists, or Islamists that influenced them, that aren't just preachy religious lectures, then take a look at Jamal Ahl e Ahmed and Muhammad Iqbal. The latter was a sort of Islamist Nietzschean.
