So...is dark forest theory legit, lit?

No

About as realistic as the simulated universe theory, or the zoo hypothesis. We can't convincingly disprove that, but everything we know about the origin of life, evolution and games theory suggests that nothing in the universe normally works that way. It's a good cosmic horror stimulant, but has no real relevance in actual studies of extraterrestrial life.

Why?

Yes

>actual studies of extraterrestrial life
>never found extraterrestrial life
>never stepped foot on another planet

>Is concept from a novel legit?
Dark Forest "theory" is as legitimate a belief as Reddit's Basilisk.
