Yoshitaka Amano's art is fantastic. I ordered the book because I just watched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, which I highly recommend.

Dropped. It's one of the worst things I've ever read: almost like reading a bad anime. Apart from some interesting world building in the beginning it doesn't have much going for it.

It's almost spooky season, so it's the perfect time to read it. You're probably better off watching the movies or starting with the later books though. Most of the stories are standalone, so you can read them in any order you desire.
