Any recommendations for books about roman sexuality and specifically roman male on male sex? I watched leather apron club's video about roman homosexuality and sexuality and it turned out the guy took some context out of the sources and didn't fully cite his sources. I know I should try to learn about the wider society outside of that to get the most accurate context I can but I want to get some idea about those two before I try to learn more.
The first couple of chapters in Brown's Body and Society is what you're looking for. Young Roman males were known to experiment with same sex relations in their youth but Rome wasn't some porntopia.

>>23822794Eh I mean like sources directly from the horses mouth. I can't just modern scholars around this subject as I've seen alot of them twist what romans or greeks said into something else that may have not been true.
>>23822808Brown practically invented late antiquity as a field of scholarship. He's as sober a historian as it gets.
>>23822815I'll check it out then but I do want to check outa variety of primary sources to get somewhere on my own conclusion.

My son don’t do this there are far better ways to spend your time than read about (alleged) male on male penetration

>>23822789Don't listen to that crap. Same thing was done to the Greeks. Pic related, it's as primary source as you can get.

>>23822902I just want to know the full context of roman male on male sex and sexuality so I can debooonk the pro gay ancient roman retards who's been given so much attention now.
>>23822990In the medieval islamic world they allowed homosexuality if it was done on a slave, pretty interesting.

>>23822805Seneca was the biggest fraud of all the stoics. Living the high life with sex servants and personal cooks while preaching about being unattached to wealth.>"I do not claim that the Stoic's way of life must be poor, but I do claim that wealth must not be the master. Wealth is the servant of the wise man, the master of the fool."
