He’s pretty good but he’s extremely overrated, most of the people who laud his style are talentless hacks who use simplicity as a disguise to hide the fact that they have no poetic talent. Hemingway himself started writing that way because he was a journo, and it then became a feedback loop from his clique of ass-lickers.

He was alpha of the clique of ass lickers not the source which is Stein. The journalism story is mostly fake, certainly had some influence on him but no where near as much as Stein did. There is a reason Anderson hooked him up with her, he was copying her style from the start.
