Wtf did I just read? Like I knew I read Harry Potter books like 20 years ago but I barely remember this garbage. Like holy shit how can this franchise survive the pile of hot garbage that is Deathly Hallows?
>>23979398What was so bad about it when you read it this time?
>>23979398Yeah, it is horrible. It doesn't detract from the true quality of the first novels, though it really is just a total mess. She was spending too much time doing movies and other shit to write a coherent finale. Illogical hunt for a horde of MacGuffins, and nonsensical final battle where every single character even mentioned gets a cameo. It's probably the reason why she never returned to the world in novel form.
The series is really only good up to book 4. It gets way too bogged down in real-world young-adult BS after that point.
>>23981627It gets too serious and leaves comfy public school environment, at the same time there's no romance present, even though it was alluded to previously. What's worst of all, she stops with light whudunit set-up in favour of plain action. Worst of her Strike novels does the same, but luckily the rest of them are very good.
>>23981645Should have gone the VN route. Wouldn't mind reading about having sex in the cupboard hiding from the teachers, or bullying, or vandalism.
