Bec by Darren Shan is the fourth book in The Demonata series released but it is the first chronologically, set in Ireland around 1600 years ago. Thought Demon Thief was a blast from the past? Lets go even further – and see what the hell Shan is cooking up with this one. Also, a happy new year everybody!Previous Thread:>>24054879Lord Loss I:>>24004762Lord Loss II:>>24017568Demon Thief I:>>24021566 Demon Thief II:>>24032763 Slawter I:>>24044135Slawter II:>>24054879
CHAPTER 1 - BEGINNING
CHAPTER 2 - CASUALITIES
Now if that is not an intriguing opening, I am not sure what is. This could be quite fun, actually. I shall continue in the new year, but for now I am off with me lads, dear anons. Feel free to share your new years resolutions - and a happy new year to you all.
>>24070921Loved Bec, it's the book in the series I remember most distinctly.
been looking forward to this one, it was always my favourite

>>24070998I've been anticipating this one too.
>>24070921Happy New Year OP! And what is this, every odd number book Grubbs' story and even being someone else?
I don't remember if it gets brought up at any point, but it's kind of ironic that the Grady (previously Garadex, previously MacGrigor, etc) family's desire to flee and hide from their family secret has probably resulted in branches of the family far-flung all over the world, thereby spreading and perpetuating the curse. Just digging their grave deeper by trying to climb out of it. Classic vicious cycle.
>>24070921Happy New Year! LET'S GHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>24070921kek the hats are greatHappy New Year OP! This one sounds the coolest but I am still very far behind, my resolution is to catch up!
>>24071884Not exactly, but there is a pattern of sorts you'll notice by the end of the series. I won't spoil it for anyone though to let the readers here potentially notice what it is for themselves.
Book 4. Another new setting, another new character. After feeling a little let down by Slawter, I was apprehensive about starting over yet again. Every time momentum gets going, we are ripped away! With so many threads unresolved and parts in motion and characters we care about, we are asked to start fresh at the beginning of a new tale, in this case the VERY beginning. A literal birth. But it doesn’t take long to get sucked into Bec’s world. It’s quite different from where we’ve been before. One thing that stands out to me is how with Grubbs’ world and Kernel’s world, the appearance of the demons is shattering. It completely uproots their worldviews, it seems impossible. They have to piece their brain together and overcome intense fears, winning the internal battle before they can ever start to battle the demonata. In Bec’s world, things seem different. The demons still threaten to overturn their way of life, but their mere existence doesn’t feel so out of place, so contrary to the humans’ existence. With that being said, it will be interesting to see how we become attached to Bec as the new protag, as she will likely not have the same shellshocked stage of development as Grubbs/Kernel, and will have to be sympathetic and triumphant in other ways. Happy new years anons!
CHAPTER 3 - REFUGEES
(sorry, internet shit the bed again)
CHAPTER 4 - THE BOY
>>24074105Thanks OP!
>>24074105We got a full party here ready for adventure.
>>24074101>one of the upsides of taking in the MacCadan is they have a handful of warriors>immediately lose one to some mysterious quest that could well be a trap laid by demons or fairiesbuggeration
>>24074105When you list the significance of the players like that it sounds like a terrible idea, should've tried a compromise with the twins and kept one back at least. Oh and thanks for posting even throughout the holidays.>>24075378So much for the luck of the Irish.

CHAPTER 5 - THE RIVER
CHAPTER 6 - THE STONES
>>24076624he gets about doesn't he
>>24074162>>24075687You're welcome. >>24074778>Village Retard>Smith>Tribal Prince>Four Warriors - One Old, Two Young, One Female >Village priestressNow thats an interesting setup. Bit combat-focussed for my taste. Speaking of which - apologies to my later posting. I grabbed up the Pathfinder Games in the sale and they got my hooked.>>24075378I think you get the twins only one by one - and I can understand, that the older guy wants to lead the party by experience and also follow through, since he asked for it. Sending the prince seems more risky.
>>24076624Nice to see a familiar face among the demons.>>24076783Combat is what you need when you are wandering the countryside where demons can attack at any moment.
