They are a slog.
>>

Currently reading The Hunt for Red October, it's alright.

Post in the genre fiction containment thread.
>>

isn't that just all novels? I'm asking about Tom Clancy specifically.

I thought that was the counterstrike logo for a second lul

They're 2in. thick war operas. They're OK, but you'll turn the last page and immediately begin forgetting it.

He's the James Patterson of military fiction.

Hundreds of ghost writers using his name to churn out slop to mindless genre readers
>>
>>24113113
Red Storm Rising is probably the best Cold War gone hot story
>>

All I know is that any video game that has his name attached to it has like a 9/10 chance of being shit.
>>
>>24115939
All games with "Tom Clancy's" slapped on them I know are Splinter Cell series, I played first half of them and they're awesome.
>>
>>24116147
The 2000s Tom Clancy games went hard as shit.
>>
>>24116147
Did Clancy write the games?
>>
>>24116201
The games are just based (or so the gamemakers say) on his books or the books written by other people under "Tom Clancy's" title.

Who is Tom Clancy, but about the late 30s and WW2?
>>
>>24113113
He keeps them coming despite being dead WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?
>>
A couple of things you need to know about Clancy books (at least the ones written when he was alive):
>the US government*, military, and law enforcement are made up of the most competent human beings on the planet (*unless they're liberals)
>the Soviets are bros who don't really hate the US and assist them regularly
>Jack Ryan is so virtuous and honorable he makes Superman look like a degenerate
The Sum of All Fears is probably as good as it ever gets; the digressions are somewhat limited, there's genuine stakes/tension, and it's the only time Ryan isn't a total boy scout and loses his shit a little
