Why does he get called an unreliable narrator? I read the book and he seemed pretty reliable to me
>>

I expected him to describe Dollys private parts in detail but he never done so.

Honestly it seem he seems more biased than unreliable, it never felt to me that he was making shit up to lie to the reader, more so that he was framing things in a way that made him look better, which i don't really get why that's the most notable part of the book for some people.

Another one expecting fap fiction and getting literature instead.

We could be relied upon to be a nonce

he's unreliable in the sense that the telltale heart narrator is. HH is insane

>more so that he was framing things in a way that made him look better
does he even do that, considering all the things he leaves in?

But why write about an underaged nymphet then? He should have just written literature about some old woman instead.

people are too retarded to ask themselves that question. They can’t tolerate the notion that the story is complex and beyond modern black-and-white views of right and wrong. There is no real meaning behind it all, no lesson. It’s simply a love story.

You might just be a bit too naïve, anon.

thoughts on the famous 'lolita riddle' 6 part videos available on youtube?

Haven't watched those yet.

Because people don’t know what the term means or how to express the way a book made them feel. They’re probably trying to express the fact that despite being a pedophile, Humbert is charming, witty, and intelligent, it’s easy for the reader to like him except for his perversion. He’s wrong about how much Lolita likes him but he never lies, he just is incorrect, he doesn’t make up anything that she says or does and as a result it’s pretty clear that she always saw his behaviour as abuse or exploitation
He’s morally unreliable but if he’s factually unreliable it’s not employed very significantly

It’s not porn for nonces, nonce

A) that would be an entirely different book because the narrator’s lust would no longer be a sufficiently strange thing to be a focal point
B) he did write a book about a younger man older woman relationship but it’s more about manipulation in an adult way
A book about how much a guy loves big boobed wide hipped milfs wouldn’t really be transgressive or interesting in the same way as Lolita. Liking women with big tits and fecund bodies is normal, or at least extremely common. Maybe it could be about some of the pathologies related to dating older, I’ve dated women significantly older than me and there is something odd and possibly incestuous going on psychologically, one doesn’t actually treat them like they’re your mother but there’s some kind of attachment to there greater age than yourself

don't know how legit this is but it may definitely be interesting if one is ready to do the research behind the evidence presented here
