I made an autistic timeline using books that claim to be set in the real Earth timeline and used the new Testament to mark the BC/AD shift.Other autists are welcome to contribute books to place on the timeline.
Do you even need any more than these books?
>>24114884Needs Dune, obviously.
Why don't they have guns in book of the new sun?
>>24114934Dune would be placed between the present and Wolfe I suppose>>24114952Doesn't Severian use some sort of laser weapon at some point?
>>24114884HG Wells Time Machine after Wolfe I guess.I agree with >>24114956 and Dune before Wolfe
>>24114956>>24114960BOTNS is like a MILLION years into the future, right? An insanely long time.
>>24114963Not MILLION possibly but still a long time.
Feels like LOTR needs to be further back on the timeline. Tolkien said that our present age is the Seventh Age of Middle-Earth. LOTR ends with the Third Age ending and the Fourth Age beginning. I bet there's a ton of time between the Fourth Age's start and the Hyborian Age.We might even say that the "Hyborian Age" is one of the ages after the Fourth Age. Probably the Fifth. Tolkien said the Seventh Age started wiith the Birth of Christ. We might even say that the Fifth Age was ended by the Flood, and the descendants of Noah repopulated the world at the start of the Sixth Age.
>>24114970Assuming each block in the image is an Age LotR is at the third/fourth age mark.
>>24114884Alan Moore did this in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.https://lxg.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline
>>24114986Well Moore didn't create this timeline per se. I think it's made by fans who considered the events that happened in the original fiction which Moore took the characters from for the comic, even what's not actually mentioned in the comics themselves.
>>24114884The Dying Earth series takes place billions of years in the future.
>>24114884Zothique and Dying Earth, both of which are precursors to BOTNS, also belong at the end of the timeline
Also The Night Land is set in far future Earth
>>24114970>underrated
>>24114952They actually do have firearms in Book of the New Sun. It's never outright explains but it's implied that a lot of the knowledge, equipment, and materials used to make them are a lot harder to come by without the massive supply chains of the past. In the first few chapters there's literally a pistol in the graveyard scene and Severian mentions how a lot of more advanced firearms are more so "maintained" rather than continually made.
>>24114963Botns Is set 400 million years into the future. That's when the sun will start dying
>>24116404The sun in BotNS is dying early due to tampering not its natural decay. The continents are still roughly the same and ruins indicate maybe thousands to tens of thousands of years.
