I just can’t forgive him for what he did to Tolkien
>>24115716Fuck Tolkien, we already got good movies of him, he ruined wheel of time. That was the last Amazon prime payment he gets from me ever.
What's wrong with it
>>24115716Nobody even watched any of the Amazon Tolkien stuff anyway, it's impact is virtually 0. If anything it made people appreciate the books, movies, even the video games more. >>24115796This anon gets the actual sin that was committed.
>>24115716I doubt he even knows who tolkien is
>>24115820>it's impact is virtually 0Imagine being this naive. Precedent is everything.
>>24115847What precedent? What tf are you talking about.
>>24115848he's saying that since the first tolkein series is ultrashit subsequent ones will absorb at least some of that shit
>>24115820>Nobody even watched any of the Amazon Tolkien stuff anyway, it's impact is virtually 0This is true and the same applies to wheel of timeNo actual fans care about this and normalfags who watched them are mere dust in the wind who forget what they watched a week laterhis shows are little more than prostitution to the settings they are in and have little more relevance than the costume they wear to entice clients
>>24115847Does Tolkien even need anymore adaptations? The Hobbit movies alone was a disaster and the Shadow of Mordor/War games shot themselves in the foot with micro-transactions and patented the Nemesis system. There's a dwarf themed video game and a hobbit themed video game coming out and nobody cares about either. I didn't even see that War of Rohirrim because it was somehow shit too. IDK how you fuck that up. Does anyone even play the Lord of the Rings official tabletop game? Why would they when you can just run a game in Dungeons and Dragons with virtually no changes. Tolkien adaptions were eventually going to slowly suck anyway, if anything the Hobbit movies set the precedent. You think Rings of Power would exist if the Hobbit movies were directed by Guillermo del Toro? Or if the Hobbit movies were removed of their filler and made more faithful to the original novel instead of trying to be the LOTR movies?
>>24115870>his showswhy do you guys keep saying his shows. is he even involved? isn't he just the founder and figurehead of amazon? or is he producing the fantasy slop too
"Tolkien, like space travel, is a personal obsession for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos" — I find this quote from the Vanity Fair article about The Rings of Power ironic because I really think the heart and soul of Tolkien's writing is the total opposite of everything Bezos holds in high regard.Tolkien hated the abuse of big industry.
