When was the last time you read a book that was released not more than a decade ago?I'm genuinely asking this because all I ever see you people talk about are the same several books that's more than decades old.
I read The Netanyahus a few months ago. It was pretty good but it really requires you to be up on Israeli politics which I am not so I missed much of the nuance of his criticism of Netanyahu/Netanyahu's Israel. Despite that it still had plenty to keep me interested and his general views on Netanyahu still came through loud and clear.

>>24117549Last year I read a short story collection called “Cartoons” by Kit Schluter (the translator who brought Rafael Bernal’s “His Name was Death” into English) which released in 2024.

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
Books have been around for thousands of years and the very very best of classics have been sifted from the 99.9% coal, which is more appealing than diving into a coal pile for a 0.1% shot at a gem
>>24118654Did you enjoy it? My wife read it recently and liked it, but not quite as much as Between Two Fires.
>>24118798If you write and want any chance at getting read by anyone you need to pay attention to what is going on in the lit world if for no other reason than to make sure you don't put in all that time on your novel only to find out someone already did it or something close enough that it will only get you labeled as an imitation even if that label is unfair. Helpful in many other ways as well.
Why would I read anything written today, classics have withstood the test of time and thus are guaranteed to be good. This not to even get into how most of the books published today are trash.
>>24117549a couple days ago, hoping that it would contain some information additively useful to my researchit didn't
I don't read recently released books because I don't enjoy LGBTQ or BLM crap.
I regularly read recently-released books. But it’s all non-fiction
i'll read new shit but only if it's not a chore. there has to be consensus on the historical value of some pain in the ass to read shit before i'm gonna bother.
pachinko min jin lee
All of these books are garbage.
>>24117570>2009 is looked back on fondly compared to the current yearOh man we're fucked.
>>24117549Last year when i read a biography on Enver Hoxha released in 2016 and a book on Statistics published in 2008 which is close enough to a decade ago.
