Think about it - would you rather read a book about a beautiful person that does everything right, or an ugly person with lots of problems? Personally, I would pick the second. Having things that make you sad and hate the world makes you more interesting, gives you a more specific perspective. Without being challenged, it's hard to develop as a person.
