remember to visit your local library!

put those tax dollars to use and check something out!

attend an event or listen to a presentation!

ask your local librarian to do an interlibrary loan if they do not have the book you want!

t. your local library worker

p.s. - ignore the homeless addicts, please

I had an interview at my local library, moved to the next stage for a 2nd interview and didn't get it. Out of humilation I refuse to go in there.

I wish they'd shut them all down and replace with some kind of warehouse pickup system for books only. All the books you really need are available on Kindle anyway, so maybe skip the warehouse.

I went to my local library (rural England, real, not New)
Half of their catalogue are children's books and romance/crime novels. The history section is popular garbage. I could not find a single classic work.
They have a good collection of local history books. In the one I picked up the other day there was a paragraph about the house I grew up in.

just place whatever you want on hold. then you can just go in, pick up the book, and get out.

I'm about to, I desperately need a good writing group, I'm wondering if a library would be a good place to find one
>>

it never hurts to look! my small library has just started one. it's all-ages, so it's not very /lit/, but it's better than nothing. there was a lot of interest in it.

It's definitely worth using libraries especially for books that are hard to find online. The other things that you said are just too idealistic for this world.
>>
>>24119382
wtf are you talking about. i need to go online to find books the library system doesn't have, not the other way around.

google books have more than any library in the world, since they scanned most of them including collections the libraries discarded subsequently.

this isn't 1990.

I'm not poor and I like annotating. So I'd rather just buy a book.
