recommendation for books about adventures? I really liked Asian Odyssey by Alioshin where he escaped the commies in the Russian civil war and how many challenges he faced and people he met. any similar books?

About a British volunteer for the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. Pretty interesting book from a typically little known perspective.

I'm not going to post it since it's a work in progress but basically I've been working on historical research looking into Asian Odyssey for a while and Alioshin wrote several books which are currently lost, but a while back we unearthed a prequel to Asian Odyssey which covers Alioshin's life in the military right up until the opening scene of Asian Odyssey and which was clearly intended as a sequel.

It's was self-published several years after his death by one of his neighbors, under his neighbor's name, so it's not exactly clear the exact history there, but it was clearly written by Alioshin- not only due to the style but also several biographical details and one of his relatives has produced an early manuscript of the work.

He also wrote a biography of the Cossack Yermak which he considered his greatest work, but I've been thus far unable to track it down. The publishing rights were purchased but it was never released as far as I can tell.

If you drop an email I can keep you updated. The history behind this book is extremely interesting, as was Dmitri's life. I'll be releasing a new edition at some unspecified point in the future which contains all this biographical/historical information, but there's a lot there. Alioshin was a prolific writer who somehow got passed up by mainstream publishers after Asian Odyssey flopped during the second world war.
