As a whole, web novels are infamous for content sprawl and pacing issues. >>24788101Haha it's okay, I don't need to be on your guys' list.
should i start writing RR reviews with a “sinometer”, aka measuring how chinese wn-like each WN is and arbitrating thus: low reviews for containing the taint of MTL-like chinesery; high reviews if they have western literary tropes and a lack of chinese ones?
>>24788027>4chan pass user in the webnovel general Whale-kun, how many patreons are you subscribed too?
>>24788126your scale is backwards, westslopper-kun
As a westoid I hate to admit it but the east are dominating us in the webnovel literature sphere. At first I thought it was because of sheer volume of output but the more I thought about it the more I realized it was incorrect. No, the reason asians are so good at it is the lack of morals. While your average western webnovelist is busy laying out their characters moral values with sensitivity mittens for their latest slow burn epic, the average asian webnovelist has already skipped that shit with their edgelord mc already offing the first of their opponents and established a basic understanding of the world while sizing up the next competitor to murder and rob. Honestly kind of humbling when you think about it.
>>24788172this is just the reverend insanity fag. don't be so obvious
>>24788175>Mislabeled and fails to refute point. The west loses yet again.
>>24788122wrong cover
>>24788205>refute point.your "point" is "i like this". you can't refute an opinion dumbshit
>>24788172I'm reading sss-class suicide hunter and gongja is a huge moralfag albeittrying to make the world a better place and get good endings for all the bit characters and even enemies is like the central focus of the story since his actual cheat skills are so op it's not really in question that he could somehow win in the end. there's a lot of focus on contrasting him with his asshole predecessor the Flame Emperor who he stole the time regression power from and basically replaced
>>24788214I accept your opinion
>>24788175Reverend Insanity is good though, I don't get why more authors don't try and copy/emulate it, instead they pick the lowest common denominator as a basis of their work.
>>24788485I didn't like it.
>>24788485It's very easy to tell why you wouldn't want to emulate RI by simply looking at its fanbase
>>24788526Don't you people want a paying audience? I think emulating one of the most popular (if not the most popular) web novel out there will attract paying customers. Don't forget that it had a published in China before the ban.
>>24788526can't think of anything worse than having people who liked your work
>>24788535*publisher
>>24788535Do most of it's readers know english?
>>24788485>I don't get why more authors don't try and copy/emulate itIts too edgy. Seems obvious.
>>24788553There is a huge demand for such work in the West. The West is currently drowning in traditionally published liberal lit and the shitty smut/litrpg in web novel scene. A serious dark novel with villain mc is desperately needed.
>>24788574Tons of those , wtf are you talking about?
>guy sends me pm saying they'd like to transate my work into Japanese and market it in Japan>ask work samples and say I don't approve machine translations>no responseI don't get it, why even bother asking for permission? If you ran somebody's work through grok or whatever, and posted it on some nignog site, the odds of the original author ever knowing about it are close to zero. Even if they did find out, what can you realistically do? Not like those other text rip or audiobook sites care either. It's fighting windmills.
>>24788485Saw this book being shilled constantly.Read the first three chapters.Character A says one word.1000 words of internal monologue.Character B says one word. 500 words of internal monologue from B’s perspective. Then 500 more words of A’s inner monologue. No wonder it has 2000+ chapters.
>>24788609>read the first three chapters
>>24788615>it gets good after 1800 chapters bro
>>24788620It gets good at chapter 1, however do read at least a dozen chapters before forming an opinion.
>>24788631It's complete shit from line one
>>24788485> I don't get why more authors don't try and copy/emulate itI know why, it's not very good. If you're an edgy 13yr old teen you probably its the best thing ever but all it does is cut & paste every trope out there and makes them as generic as possible.
>>24788696It one of the most popular webnovels out there, even years after it stopped being updated it's still in top 3 list of most read novels on many sites. I see people here constantly bitching about how to attract more readers, monetise their work etc but they all ignore the obvious dark story with villain protag genre that is clearly very popular with webnovel readers.
>>24788732Again , tons of those in RR
>>24788636>>24788696seething contrarian
>>24788750There is not a single novel similar to Reverend Insanity on RR.
>>24788779You might want to ask yourself why that is.
Who's the Mishima Yomu of the western webnovel scene
>>24788223Gongja and Undertaker (infinite regressor) are both massive moralfags but they are both some of my most favourite webnovel mc
>>24788787I just can't think of a reason, I mean RI is massively popular, there is a demand for such work yet nobody is writing anything like it. All we get is litrpg and harem garbage. Could it be that gooners are only capable of writing slop and nothing else?
>>24788732If it's such a surefire recipe for success, why don't YOU write an imitation for RR?
>>24788825I can't write.
>>24788485>>24788535Because it sucks?
>>24788830It's insanely popular.
>>24788822>>24788833Popular? The only place I'm ever seen it mentioned is here.
>>24788835I have seen it mentioned on RR forums.
>>24788908You must be one of the three people that read them.
