When Anon's Novel Fails Time Travel To Try Again Edition

Stubbed >>24788097

>What is /wng/ — Web Novel General?
A general for readers and authors involved or interested in the growing phenomenon of 'web novels', serialized English fiction posted to websites such as: Royal Road, Webnovel, Scribblehub, Wattpad, Archive of Our Own, Spacebattles, HFY, various personal author websites, and more

>Why read web novels?
Not for prose or tight editing or deep themes, frankly. As a whole, web novels are infamous for content sprawl and pacing issues. If you enjoy having millions of words to sink your teeth into to get to know the world and characters, though, you may be interested. Keeping up with other readers on a weekly basis to discuss the story's events unfolding is another perk, in the same way discussing an ongoing TV show might be.

>Why write web novels?
Ease of access & potential for Patreon earnings. Many successful authors gain an audience on their website of choice and funnel their readers into a Patreon. See graphtreon.com/top-patreon-creators/writing for an idea of what some are earning.
Also, once an author has earned a fanbase, transitioning into an Amazon self-publishing career is several orders of magnitude easier than starting 'dry'.

When I get stuck writing I make the next paragraph a sex scene between the characters and write 500 words of fucking. Then I erase it all and get back to the real scene. I find this works well.

Third worlders should just sign their rights away to the chinks at webnovel.com. Guaranteed few hundred dollars a month.

doesn't need to be pure patreonbux, you can make quite a lot on amazon too. 500/500 a month is quite doable so long as you're writing to market, have high output, and are at least ok at writing sloppa

Akaso had irl problems which hurt his growth. But the vast majority of /wng/ is just starting out. So keep that in mind when you look at FortySixtyFour, he's been posting consistently for six years when the market was nowhere near as tough as it was. Not wanting to downplay his achievements but it just is what it is, web novels are going mainstream now.

I'm making a WN like Monster girl evolution but instead being the monster girl, you raise them from eggs->ducks/swans->monster girl. the main premise is slice of life usagi drop daughter raising simulator style in not-isekai world.

picrelated are the two main heroines character design

top is the ugly duckling character, Odile (tentative name). - is very greedy, possessive and insecure
bottom is the golden swan character, Odette (tentative name).- is very genki, airheaded and likes shiny/golden things

I'm going to color code the durations of how long someone (has) worked on their story. What should the colors and divisions be? It could be as simple as less than a year and more than a year, or as much as a different color for each amount of years.
>>
>>24798624
I think the best divisions would be monthly and yearly. So if its under a year, it should be green (and this should be the big division, because there are so many fics that are like 2 months, a month or like a week old on /wng/). A year of work could be yellow, 2 years orange, 3 years red, 4 years purple, 5 years blue, 6 years gold, etc.
>>
>>24797741
Should the author spreadsheet be sorted by Followers or Status? It's currently sorted by Followers. Status would prioritize ongoing series (including stubbed) then by follower count.

status prioritizing would be more convenient

Does it get better or is MEOW just bad?
It's popular enough on RR/highly rated enough to be in the bracket where the authors are usually competent but it's so dull.
I get that it's being sold as "cozy slice of life" but there's very little actual life going on in what I've read. I've read plenty of SoL and know what makes the good ones tick and it's missing here.

I agree with your statement though, even if typing every time the full name of "That one time I reincarnated as a black man in an NTR novel, but why does my mother look at me like that? ~This life I'll gather a harem, starting with my big sister~", its better to do it than to not do it imo.

Thought of an idea for a litrpg based on another one of my favorite games being fucked relentlessly by braindead gorilla nigger devs
>Litrpg world with classes and stats but also has constant changes made by the gods of the world that are given out via prophetic words (patch notes) to the priestly caste
>Changes are completely nonsensical and can take upwards of decades for an issue the gods introduced in a previous patch to be resolved
>Monster strength and spawns being increased because the gods felt like the world wasn't challenging enough, laws of physics randomly changing to "shake up the meta", entire sections of the world disappearing because they were outdated so they'll supposedly be updated sometime in the future (they never are)
>They recommend that you send feedback to the priests, which does nothing
>Priestly caste defend the retarded design decisions to their dying breath
>Main character was born into a shitty class that's considered a joke class but was added in as a "fun challenge"
>Managed to make it actually useful via some exploit
>Gods take notice of him, "fix" the class exploit and reset him to level 1 as an example

It's not very original but it clearly works as an appealing hook to sloppa readers. Everyone likes the MC feeling super duper special. It's power fantasy after all

I've been in the webfic scene since 2019. I just couldn't care less about Chinese or Korean stuff because I don't go to the hellscape that is Webnovels and don't read badly translated ESL works like those on there. In any case, I'm just baffled why OP took 230!!!! chapters to figure out the story was bland, and for me I realized it was bad after reading the first 2 chapters. It's like watching one piece for 900 episodes and asking when it gets good, you know? Also, to answer the original OP's question, Webnovel 's stats are insanely inflated; they deceive you for clicks. I thought that was common knowledge at least.

Fatalism is really just another flavor of nihilism. To succumb to it is to lose all hope of self determination. Soul crushing, but also relieving, in a way. When everything has been decided before you were even a thought, what burden is there to think about what you do?
Imagine a person who wanders through life doing whatever he damn well pleases, for no reason at all. There is no purpose behind his actions, just his moment to moment whims. He could be laughing it up with someone at a bar one moment and cutting their throat out with a beer bottle the next. It wasn't him. He had no choice in the matter. It was destined to happen. If anything, it's divine to listen to the voice of destiny and do its will. And for a hollow man with no voice of his own, destiny has many, conflicting voices with which to direct him.
